Looking forward to this and to the sequels. These games were massive for me as a teen and I still love them (or at least ME1 and especially ME2) even with some glaring problems.
I absolutely love The Mass Effect Trilogy, and I had the opportunity to play it all for the first timenin one weekend on 360. I need to play them again.
Vanguard is pretty good choice, it's probably the class that improves the most gameplay wise while going through the whole trilogy. Nice Retrospective.
You might enjoy Star Control 2. Self contained star spanning action-adventure RPG with a ton of distinct, memorable aliens. Some of the best sound design and character design I've seen in a game. The update/remake, "The UrQuan Masters", is free. And it has a fun primary gameplay loop, which you tactfully acknowledged Mass Effect doesn't have. (I got to the Citadel and realized at one point that I was doing a nonsense fetch quest to fulfill a different nonsense fetch quest on the promise that eventually the game would open up a little and stop feeling like an exposition dump with poorly executed action beats between scenes. It had been hours, and like with KOTOR I lost faith that it was ever going to be engaging. I played some Godhand as a pallet cleanser and never picked ME up again. Still glad others enjoy it, and I appreciate your review.)
It's a christmas miracle! Damn, more then a decade has passed since playing the original Mass Effect trilogy & I still recall ME I+II being my personal 'star wars' during my pipsqueak days. I'd love to see more mass effect theories! Reaper stories, closed systems that maybe survived. Just mass affect stories general 🥇 I was reading a story recently about an isolated team in an observation excursion when the reaper invasion happened. They hid on planet with an evolving intelligence not worth the reaper attention. The team observed the war.
Mass Effect, the first one, remains my favorite of the three games in the trilogy. As much of an improvement the other two games made upon ME1, the way the story turned in Mass Effect 2 with the absolutely absurd ending and the terrible (in my opinion) decision to soft-reboot the whole cast makes me loathe it. Yeah the writing is good, and the characters are great, but everything we did in ME1 was just blown to oblivion for no good reason at all. ME1 reigns supreme for me, and in one reality of our world, I'm sure ME2 and ME3 truly built off of ME1 and it's DLC cliff-hangers.
RUclips can get very weird about graphical language/content so I censored myself from the get-go to avoid having my video claimed and re-rendering/re-editing it. In short, boring inside baseball stuff

There is no (unique) gameplay mechanic due to Sheperds interaction with the beacon. That was a major disappointment.
