Physics my friend physics, it is basically thrown towards the wind at high speed and the aerodynamic design of the wings allows the air to push it up. We don't appreciate how powerful air can be because it rarely hits us at massive speed.
A plane's engines are designed to move it forward at high speed. That makes air flow rapidly over the wings, which throw the air down toward the ground, generating an upward force called lift that overcomes the plane's weight and holds it in the sky... The wings force the air downward and that pushes the plane upward.
Wow, this has to be the best and most impressive demo of this wonderful bird I've seen so far. Good camera work, too! And NO MUSIC - yippieee ! Thanks for this stunning video.
Well it"s not so strange or unreal that it has a short takeoff stretch when it is empty and has little fuel. Fueled up and with a heavy payload - around 350 tons - it shall still be able for takeoff from a normal lenght runway. Total max. weight 640 tons. Yeah, thats heavy stuff.
Philip Deboever I don’t know where you are coming up with your thoughts but you are certainly confused. The 225 is actually underpowered. It does have 6 jet engines that produce 51, 600 lbs of thrust on a good day but with a total gross weight of over 1.3 million lbs it’s not the thrust to weight ratio of planes I flew. It’s a dog when fully loaded. And it was never intended to be a passenger airplane. And yes compressed air is a big part of turbine engines but without the fuel they would not run. Large turbine aircraft do not have starters like your car and all depend on either a APU for compressed air or a ground air cart for the start. And I’m sure the majority of the fuel is in the wings of this aircraft. But in multiple sections so it doesn’t shift around and cause flight control issues. There may be other body fuel tanks that flow to the main wing center tanks but the majority is in the wing. And they do consume a lot of fuel per hour especially at lower altitudes. And I believe this aircraft is limited to 36,000’. Excess compressed air from the jet engines does supply the cabin with pressurization. On hot days with heavy weights the crew probably turns that off temporarily to get anything they can from the jet engines. I don’t know what your aviation background might be if any, but mine is one of over 13,000 hours all over the world in aircraft that go higher and faster than the airlines do. Anywhere in the world with one stop and up to 51,000’. So I kinda am familiar with aviation including seeing the AN-225 in person. And many other interesting underpowered Russian aircraft in Russia. This aircraft is actually Ukraine and was developed for the Russian Space Shuttle flights. Used one time to ferry the shuttle. And then abandoned by Russia. The Ukraine put it back into service and it is the only one in existence. A second one was started by the Russians but never completed.
TheInfamousGod Yes it’s the one and only. Originally it sat for years after the Russians abandoned the Shuttle program. Then Ukraine, a spin off from Russia decided to return it to airworthy status. Putting the engines back on it was the first step. And I’m sure getting parts for it is hard.

Underrated😂
Amazing! It only took 23 seconds to get wheels off the ground. So impressive! And Putin only took a few minutes to destroy this beautiful aircraft, today.
Simplesmente fantastico.
Finally, a plane that can get off the ground with my sister inlaw in it.
That's cold man, she must be huge.
Her name is Mirya I guess.
Juice556 Lmfaooooooo
You should ask your sister in law to bring your mother in law with her lol
what if someone actually thought this is comedy. what a weird world that would be.
Looking at this behemoth fly already blown my mind, just awesome.
I had a similar view as camera man in person once. This is a seriously big object.
That’s a beautiful aircraft...
lt is the only one of its king....What a Plane...W0W....Thanks very much....From Kentucky USA
Yes, it's the only flying An-225 in the world. Thanks for watching, Steve! Greetings to Kentucky :)

Racé , élégant , maniable et gigantesque ! le nouvel ANTONOV est une merveille .
Powiien otrzymać zakaz lądowania na całym świecie. To zagrożenie dla ruchu lotniczeg!.Ltjący złom z epoki Breżniewa.
I'm amazed this is actually larger than the Lockheed C-5 Galaxy I used to work on. (Navigation communication technician AF Reserves)
That plane is my true love😍😍😍
12 segundos para despegar....INCREÍBLE !!!
Because is empty. Of it were carrying something heavy like helicopters and pieces of another planes would be heavier and taking more time for reach the minimum speed for take off.
640 tonnes lift. Great aerodynamics on this magnificent albatross.
... the peak of aircraft heavy-lifting ... :) even more wonderful when it's used for life-saving missions (corona supply for ex.) like during the last days .. !! greets
the camera operator job done is much more amazing than what it films
Stunning engineering and spectacular flying

A beautiful beast
The most famous plane in the world met her fate
At 1:50 it moves, 2:08 its front wheel already took off.
Its engines must be massively powerful to lift that behemoth from the ground in that short run and take off. Just wow!!
"That's not a plane, that's a planet"
Nice comment
