I was on a 747-400 back in the mid-90's making a short jump between Rio and Sao Paulo, Brazil before heading back to the US during a nice tropical storm. Apparently the pilot grew tired of all the lightning and turbulence...so he throttled up and put us in ~45+/- degree climb to get over and out of the storm cells. My co-worker slept through the whole event. Those folks NOT adhering to that little "Fasten Seatbelt While Seated" sign (light) received a quick lesson as to why they install those things. It was both interesting and sad watching people leaving their seats and making friends with the ceiling.

The sad thing is something very similar actually did happen at Haneda Airport. A Dash 8 Coast Guard plane turned onto the runway just as a JAL A350 was touching down. All 379 passengers and crew aboard Flight 516 from Hokkaido made it out without major injuries, quite miraculously, but of the six service officers on the military plane (which was to bring supplies to quake-stricken Ishikawa), only the captain survived. Apparently a contributing factor was that the runway approach lights indicating "wait" or "turn onto runway for takeoff" were not operational. So, always look both ways whenever you plan to cross the street, folks!

It's AMAZING how realistic computer graphics can be nowadays! I really couldn't tell that it was fake until it made that impossible climb. Although, there was a moment when the plane was taxiing for takeoff when the underbelly of the plane suddenly got darker. Also, the blur around the engines didn't make any sense. I never saw that happen with a real plane.

I almost called BS on this video until I read the comments 😂. I knew it wasn't real from just a few seconds into the video, then when I got to about the 7:44 mark I was like BS! 🤣 But then I read the comments that this was a flight simulator I was super impressed at the VR. Incredible!

@@russell_szabados telefax I believe is where Someone typed a message that went through as dots (holes) in a strip of paper that was fed through another machine at the receiving end that could read the message, (I think that’s what they were called) I’m 54 too and remember learning on one but they weren’t around long after doing my training

I let my pilot cousin look at before I told him it was a simulation. I thought he would have a thrill to see the vertical takeoff. He did! Then realized Alaska Air doen' t operate 747's. Looks good though! 👍

I love flying, I haven't been on an airplane since 9/11 I miss it. That's my favorite part taken off and in the Boeing 747 in that vertical I can just imagine what it felt like in that plane that would have been awesome

@sue whitton I first flew on a 747 in 1979 when I was 11 years old. Got to fly on 747s only three more times in my life, they’re beautiful airplanes.
@@russell_szabados telefax I believe is where Someone typed a message that went through as dots (holes) in a strip of paper that was fed through another machine at the receiving end that could read the message, (I think that’s what they were called) I’m 54 too and remember learning on one but they weren’t around long after doing my training

I let my pilot cousin look at before I told him it was a simulation. I thought he would have a thrill to see the vertical takeoff. He did! Then realized Alaska Air doen' t operate 747's. Looks good though! 👍
If he's a pilot, I would think the first thing he would notice is that 747s cannot physically perform a takeoff like that.

There are a lot of very early cues that this is a simulation.
If your cousin is a pilot and it took him so long to see that it wasn’t real, let me know his name so I can avoid getting on a plane he’d be flying.

Did I just see that plane go through a tiny helicopter when it landed? I had to rewatch it over and over again and it goes through it. WTH?? Ok, this was a flight stimulation and I was fooled by the realistic graphics!

I love flying, I haven't been on an airplane since 9/11 I miss it. That's my favorite part taken off and in the Boeing 747 in that vertical I can just imagine what it felt like in that plane that would have been awesome

..at 7:33, a helicopter appears at the bottom left hand corner of the video, and appears to be flying right in front of the plane for a few seconds ..at 7:44, the plane flies right through the helicopter ..hahaa!
