I'm a Samsung ecosystem junkie, so I'm getting this for my birthday next month. But your analysis was very helpful. It's so very Samsung to not fix easily fixed issues in their products. Awesome review!
You're so right Andrew. A lot of missed opportunities here with the Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro 360 and yet I'm not surprised? It's just Samsung being Samsung. No Haptic TouchPad, the fact that you only get 16GB of soldered RAM and no option to even upgrade to 32GB during the ordering process is really unacceptable! Also, why are they still using SSD from a third party manufacturer with slow speeds instead of their own? The Webcam, internal mics and speaker quality are good but if this is all you get for the price and nothing else, I would definitely skip Samsung as there are better options out there in my opinion. Awesome Andrew!! 👏😁

@@JJ-cq6hu Exactly and we have no idea what Intel is charging for the CPUs with 32GB of RAM. The price may break Samsung's economics for this product. One day people will understand that $1699 for Samsung is for suckers who don't wait for it to be sold for $1299 or $1399 a month later. I saw the Galaxy Book 4 Edge for $899 at Best Buy a couple of weeks ago and that launched at $1349 this summer. Lenovo, LG, and Samsung prices are to give you an illusion of a discount when the product is marked down to the price they intended all along.
What would you recommend getting instead??? Not asking in offense, I just need a new laptop asap and I have looked around- hp, Lenovo, and Microsoft are so expensive... Which model would you recommend?
Love how you call these companies out. If they are going to ask for a lot of money put all the hardware tha represents the value of what ypu are asking. Thank you sir for communicating what others do not.
It's the same shit I said the last 5 years... Samsung's "PRO" model has Windows 11 Home on it - NOT "PRO". Samsung's "PRO" model has only a 16GB option. As a 30+ year Graphic Designer running Adobe products, this is the killing stroke for me, and that's why I will always choose Dell or Lenovo over Samsung, eventhough I would love to use the S-Pen, but all 3 companies use Wacom technology with their Styluses, so it's not that big of a deal. That god-awful 1/2" chin on the bottom of their screen is so much of a design error it's almost unfathomable. This is supposed to be a machine that appeals to "PRO" creatives, yet it's so much NOT a "PRO" device that it's comical... Marc, you've pointed out many things over the years about the trackpad, and the SSD, too... I'm Samsung user too with a Tab S8 Ultra, an S23 Ultra, a Galaxy Wear OS watch, Samsung monitors and TV's all over my house as well. It's disappointing that this mega-brand just obviously will never do Windows Computers right. Just insane.
I love your reviews and the consistency of them. I have a couple of suggestions, if you don’t mind. Most modern styluses now have 4,000 levels of pressure or more, so repeating that in every review feels a bit redundant. What’s more important is the technology behind them. For example, Microsoft Surface and some other devices, like the Asus ProArt convertible, use the MPP pen protocol, which is fine for note-taking, but no serious digital artist would rely on it. On the other hand, Samsung uses Wacom’s EMR pen technology in their devices, which offers superb line quality, on par with or even better than Apple’s protocol. I think this nuance is worth noting in future reviews. Unless Microsoft improves their MPP, their devices are suboptimal for serious digital art. Another suggestion is to replace or complement the GTA V benchmark with benchmarks for Cyberpunk 2077 and Red Dead Redemption 2, and maybe Wukong. These would provide more relevant and representative information. GTA V is good and popular game, but it's pretty old now. It is playable even on Android devices via emulation.
I appreciate your take on this. This is precisely how I feel about the Book5 Pro 360 as well, but for me it's more the fact that there really isn't much change compared to the last two generations. There is no significant change in performance, no improvements made in the display, no changes in the design (to make it more ergonomic). Absolutely nothing. Do you have any idea how long I've been waiting for a worthy successor to my Book3 Pro 360? Too damn long! The Book4 Pro 360 wasn't it, and now the Book5 Pro 360 STILL isn't it. What the frick Samsung. I ended up returning my Book3 Pro 360 due to poor QC on my unit, as well as other quibbles like the razor sharp sides that dig into your arms.
I fully agree that a 32GB option is actually a must have. Regarding the haptic feedback: sorry Andrew, but there is no need for it simply because you can do everything including drag&drop without clicking. And if you don't click, you won't need a haptic feedback. The main problem with the touchpad is its position which is the main reason why I would not buy this notebook.
Andrew I think that step by step we are moving the overton window with respect to laptops, although Apple has had it for a long time, which is to sell us expensive products that are not top top in all their specifications.
Nice pc. Camera and mics and speakers are good. Very good display. Agree with you about the keyboard. If they ever redesign their keyboard they should improve the key travel and also the numpad layout or remove it as it is functionally useless in this iteration. Port selection is good. Nice to see an sd card slot as most other manufacturers do not include it on their newer models. Also agree for this price to put in a faster ssd card and haptic touchpad. What are these manufacturers thinking when designing these products? Thank you for another great review.
