JBL L100 looks and sounds great!
Mark Levinson give the notes....
I worked in hifi retail in birmingham in the 1970's i worked with JBL and we sold many pairs of L100 speakers they were loud forward and in your face they really sang to you but my god they were good, nothing else we had in the store came even close to the JBL's from memory they were a bright sounding speaker just outstanding. No i could never afford a pair but that was 1970 maybe this time around lets talk to the bank.
Sir I want to 16 inch speaker. Of jbl
So you new the L-112 which has been the best JBL speaker to date
În England you can not aford a pair of JBL L100 ?!:) than who ? I do from Romania ?;)) you salary is ×10 times like ours you gain 2500£ in England i only 250 £ in RO but ii have this speachers JBL L100..
The all unite from Mark Levinson is expensiv like 50.000£
Who sing the first song??????
Loving this!
JBL L100 classic wow awesome sound
I don't own any jbl but I like loud music a since got a hint of one best of all..
Your bro from kenya
I love JBL. Mine is array 400. Very satisfied. When I play The Beatles Let it be album like I've got Paul singing Get back live to me. Fantastic.
One does appreciate the sound quality of them but I must admit a preference to my tannoy Westminster royal gr but that's only my opinion.
Классный звук, лёгкий, светлый, и в тоже время прекрасно отыгрывается весь частотный диапазон, сочетание лучшего в мире на мой взгляд транзисторного усилителя и одной из лучших акустик дали такой отличный результат.
The new Mark Levinson Integre amp really sounds good: Well balanced and transparent sound on audition.
Yeah one of the best integrated Amps dir me. I Onkyo prefer the Big bryston integrated a Bit Note cause of neutral Sound.
Awesome sounding!
Unreal sound quality❤
Amazing audiophile speakers!!
Loves me some Levinson gear! Sounds great, Terry!
Thanks very much for sharing yet another top notch vid!
Very nice. And a gold vintage style, too.
i think its wonderful i love tour vidéos keep doing this
Thanks for sharing 🎼👍
I bought a set of new in 1978 JBL 4311WX Control Monitors the professional version of the original JBL L100 and had the same size drivers. I still have then and they are still in perfect condition and always sounded incredible on every type of music I play on it in 2,000 parties in 42 years. Always great a real legendary speaker still popular today. The new L100 Classic is better and cost more but worth it.
I don't believe the new L-100 Classic are better than original L-100's....the Classics are made by harman and the Original were made by JBL,,never the same , but maybe you did not like the L-100 original very much because they use paper tweeter which do not sound so detailed,,,later in 1979 JBL produce the L-112 which has been the best JBL bookshelf to date,,,better than the L-100 Classics
pense num aparelho de áudio com uma qualidade sonora muito boa 👍 você ouvi os graves, os médios, os agudos, tudo em harmonia ótima qualidade, Fernando Antônio, Pernambuco Brasil
Lovint this speakers… The sound is perfect… tiene un equilibrio perfecto. Y su imagen atemporal…🤙🏼🤙🏼🙌🏼
love my little JBL monitors... great sound.
Aw bless your wee cotton socks.
Wow I thought I seen all your videos. There is definitely some magic going on in there. Thanks for sharing
If you have watched all 900 of them respect :)
Those sourd absolutely amazing. I have one pair of JBL's. the indoor/outdoor Northridge series and I love them. I am a novice/intermediate audiophile. I just love good sounding speakers and these sound incredible to me. I wish I were rich and could afford to build an incredible sound system. I wanted to add, whoever and however this was recorded is outstanding, really gives the viewer a true sense of how the speakers must sound.
How the fuck do you know they sound amazing? You are listing to audio recorded on a shitty mic that's coming out of completely different speakers, YOURS... You have completely lost your little mind...
Very crisp!
jbl!!..nice set of sounds,.also the sounds that played...
Hanne Boel sounds GREAT! rly, dude
Gotta love that silky smooth Levinson sound ❤❤❤
Exquisito Audio muy alta definición y muy real
Sound is perfect, even through my smartphone )))
Your right how funny it does sound good
Good song the first, very good indeed. The sound has punch and is entertaining. Good job as always by your part, shooting the camera. Hey, even the second song likes me a lot.
Un buen equipo es bueno escucharlo sin ecualizador.
Wow, didnt expect this sound quality of these JBLs! Noticed some commercials for them before, but this is good!
What device do you use to record the sound? Superb!
Yes, this is the jbl the legend in sound 🔊
Why is the left speaker exactly arranged as the right. The port, midrange and tweeter should be opposite sides of each speakers. Are they using the same channel speakers?
Very impressive sound (very ''livelike'') although I'm not sure I could listen to that intensity for hours without fatigue.
BTW - really enjoy your channel Terry.
Are you fucking mental? You are listing to a shitty mic in a room, what the fuck are you even saying..?
Love the JBLs. Smooth, controlled with lovely detail. As always great bass scale and response due to the wonderful bass driver. Great video as always sir 👍
are they still bright?
Top de mais 🔊🔈🔉🎧🎶🎶🎶🎶
Give me a yell when you preview the 'Big JBL's in the wings..'!
word!
✅ Hello!
what microphone do you recommend for me to record my auditions with fidelity?
Good video
Y como siempre JBL con muy excelente calidad en el Audio gran definición y claridad asombrosa y mucha profundidad y realismo
impressive demo. i was there.
Nice.
Hi Terry, my JBL 4312 speakers are 6 ohms, and I'm going to use a Mcintosh integrated amp model MA6900 to drive them. My question is should I connect the speakers into the 4 or 8ohms terminals ?? Thanks in advance for your advice ! Best regards, Jim
4 ohms I think
Fist time seeing an actual decent presentation of this speak. (I have been looking forward to this as the originals are an important speak to own for me....lived them when new.)
My impression? Levinsson stayed somewhat consistent with how they present forward and full (only with a much more smooth and precise modern driver design).
Take? Still a large room party speak/much more capable and not as limited as the originals.
Looking forward to an actual listen and comparison (to other fine “modern” speaks in this price range). A re-issue aspect still has some importance.....possibly.
Thank you for keeping my interest alive with this great video.
Einfach perfekt
Wow Terry those JBLs are wonderful. So many videos on YT are crap. But you are doing a phenomenal job. Keep up the good work
thank you
Awesome, my dream speakers (both JBL Synthesis) right there!Do you just live with the copyright issues when posting sound demo's from shows or do you know a way round them. I am scared of the ramifications but really want to post up some videos!
Dream speakers? They are cheap by any modern standards and quite easy to find...
proper magic.
We used to have these when we were kids growing up, the Jbls , the toshibas, nakamichis, Yamaha’s, pioneers, sansui, technics, klipchs, marantz, he list goes on. We lost our hifi and traded them for iPods and tiny wifi bluetooths.
Hey Terry, I always wear my puffa jacket for serious listening sessions....
I bet it gets a little bit hot in the summer .... :)
Ok very good.
Truly best ever JBL...Real Tribute to James Bullogh Lansing
Как же круто мой сяоми забрынькал :)) не ожидал от одного динамика подобного волшебства. Даже на улице оборачиваются.
Leonard cohen ?,name of the song with ???!
Mantap
Amazingly detailed sound from JBLs.. very refined, even through Y.T. limited quality sound.
They look vintage but don't sound it..
@Mark Godfrey
I am not surprised as, some of JBL's top models are exceptional speakers in anyone's language.
They certainly know how to make speakers.
Dude, you are listening to YOUR SPEAKERS, not the JBL's lol...
Słucham to i niedowierzam jakie to jest super.
1:18 I think a nice song for a very great experience.....
Yello is great for testing a system. They're great, period.
Of course, any intelligent person would not base a buying decision based alone on a Video like this, but this was a REASONABLE approximation of how they might sound. With that said, I used to own a pair of the Original L100's and although the Bass was absolutely phenomenal in terms of tightness, roundness, depth, punch, speed, and dynamic-swing, unfortunately, because there was no real Crossover ( only Capacitors ?? ) , the top-end would tear your head off !! No matter what I did with the speaker Tone controls, I could never achieve that delicate balance between detail & no-sonic-fatigue and I ultimately sold them. HOWEVER, if the mostly very positive reviews Online and elsewhere are any indication, and JBL has addressed the issues I have mentioned, this may just be the last High-End Speaker I ever buy. I make a very good living selling Insurance and would much rather spend my money on Vintage European Sports Cars than over-rated Wilson's and many other over-hyped speakers in the High-End. Take care guys! -Dave in San Francisco ♫
Well, I must be severely lacking in IQ, because I bought them largely for how they look.
Probably because you spent all your money on snake oil and absolutely none on your room...
I have JBL studio 580 and I have to point the tweeters straight ahead and not right at my ear. JBL do have well controlled bass and I've come to love their concert sound.
If I had your money and space, I would give these a try. They are on special at Crutchfield and it's killing my soul not to buy them. 😢
That second tune is a belter! Thanks Terry!
yeah I really like that track as well link to the album in the video description
Great track by Hanne Boel - After midnight, been playing it on my own system for some time, great recording, sounds so good.
Nope
Does anyone know the title of the song
The Clash - London Calling is what you need to play on them full stop.
Everyone who sits down is thinking ooh, Salon and K2! What? They're playing the dorm speakers? Next room
Quá đỉnh
those seats look almost exactly like the ones in the maxell ad
How have u recorded the sound of the speakers?
For this show using stereo professional (lower to medium quality) microphones fixed to a camera rig recorded into a medium quality professional portable recorder. Its not easy recording sound well on the move while shooting video too.
@@PursuitPerfectSystem Wow ok. I really thought that u used an original recording instead of the one from the speakers. It sounds really good!
@@max.racing you can hear people in the crowd talking
@@PursuitPerfectSystem See, you see how fucking dumb this shit is man...?
Very good recording sound quality for RØDE Stereo VideoMic Pro
Thats wrong info man I stopped using that years ago
@@PursuitPerfectSystem Oh, what do you use now for record? It will be very interesting, because I am a big fun for good mics...
@@AutoHot that is a trade secret mate sorry:)
@@PursuitPerfectSystem No, the only trade secret here is that you are full of shit, and that it doesn't matter wether you are using a pair of million pound unobtanium mics placed perfectly in that shitty room, we are all still listening through our own fucking speakers, in our own fucking room. You are all so fucking deluded it's not even funny. Though it is quite funny...
Great sound. I am not surprised at all those vintage style speakers are produced still today. There are certain things those big woofers can do that modern slim designs can't match no matter what smart tricks are applied.
Exactly!!!
First Song name?
Are those metal tweeters? They sound like it. I’ve never heard a speaker with metal tweeters that I’ve liked. Great recording quality to be able to hear that via RUclips by the way. Thanks for your excellent recordings and content!
¿Tiene internet radio?
And forgot to mentioned , the New Mark Levinson amp has a sweet upper midrange, so making the music ebb and flow effortlessly.
Really? An AMP can do that ?
@@joeygonzo of course not
@@joeygonzo it’s not really an amp at least not mainly
It’s a speaker that looks like an amp
What are the names of the 2 music that plays video?
Should be listed in the video description
Check out any recording from the studio "Kirkelig Kulturverksted" in Norway. Absolutely superb sound quality
I would think they are designed to be used with the grills? Might dampen the top end a bit. I’ll admit most speakers I’ve had sound better without the grills though.
top end adjustable with dial
I definitely want a pair!!! They need a matching sub... 😎👍
Valerifon1 L100s do NOT need a subwoofer, unless you want to just destroy the purist sound you can get from a pair of speakers.
yeah, think again...PLENTY of bass here lol
@@davidr346 Hahahahaha, you idiot...
Bass sounds lightweight on those stands. Needs stands better coupled to the floor.
Appreciate the limitations of RUclips but I get the feeling the top end is a bit unsophisticated and would be tiring after a while. That being said I love the way the midrange and low end kind of bounces along. On this evidence the tweeter is the Achilles heel.
Bagus sekali sempurna
А, что за трек играет? Скажи пожалуйста? 🤔
L100s are a good book shelf speaker, meaning that they need to radiate into 180 degrees, as if placed into a wall, they are not the ideal floor standing speaker. You can turn down the treble ... agree that the driver integration is not perfect, don't expect to get enough bass impact to make you really feel the music subconsciously. The older generations of JBL engineers were amazingly able to hear less than 1 db off in linearity over the full range, and they would tweek every aspect of the speaker design until they got it nearly perfectly linear over its full operating range. I don't have the impression that the newest generation of JBL design engineers have developed that level of skill. These speakers sound more like what I remember the better models of Japanese speakers tended to sound like decades ago in overall character, but a bit better in quality.
@Mark Godfrey They were designed for the studio monitor market to replace the standard Altec 604 coaxial speakers which had a large market share in previous decades but which also had an annoying mid range peak which improvements in recording media exposed, so studio engineers wanted a flatter more accurate monitor, which is what the L100s were designed to be. Floor stands are sold to people who want to use them as floor standing speakers that does not mean they were designed and optimized to be floor standing speakers. The L100s sound good when placed into a wall and best when designed into the intersection of a vertical wall and ceiling in a monitoring position. They sound tubby and over modulated when attempting to reproduce bass on the floor, stand or no stand.
Great sound Mr E
its not me I am just recording it ;)
Ah, but the quality of your recording is impressive, particularly when compared with other youtubers recordings at the show 👍
is 5805 a tier above or below 585? How do they compare to each other?
I think its a tier below
@@PursuitPerfectSystem you've probably heard both, what would you rather have 585 or Devialet 220 Pro?
Why does JBL not mirror the midrange and tweeter. Looks like two leftside or rightside speakers are being used.
Looks like a design flaw to me and I wonder how that affects the sound.
From that distance, and in that shitty room, no difference at all, but don't let that stop you thinking all manner of other bullshit is also true, maybe some £1000 interconnects will help... lol
Hi Terry, I have the JLB L100 classic at home and they seem to be quite difficult to drive. Tube amps or low power class A amps don't work with them at all. Even a 300W per channel class D amp is strugling to get this bass driver moving. I would be thankful if you could tell me, if Mark Levinson 5805 is able to drive those speakers? You heard this combination at the show. Were there any signs of the speakers being underpowered? I am thinking of buying the ML second hand, but there is little chance of me being able to audition it with L100 classic. Thank you! Marcin
I can't really answer this question properly I am sorry but if you want an amp that will really drive hard speakers well see if you can pick up a used Gryphon Diablo 300 I have just reviewed this amp and it drives speakers for bass like no other I have reviewed so far. It's beast but an awesome one
Thinking about it you could always go with one of the crown xls power amps but I dont know if they are any good
@@PursuitPerfectSystem Thank you Terry! I was thinking about Crown XLS, but those amps do an internal A/D and D/A conversion on input signal, as you can apply some DSP functions. They do the conversion regardless if you are using the DSP or not. It drastically reduces bandwith and ability to resolve finer details. I prefer to go the traditional class AB route. Gryphon Diablo 300 is a little bit too expensive for me, even on the used martek. Although I must say it looks like a dream amplifier and I envy you that you had the opportunity to live with one for some period of time! As a side question - I watched almost all of your videos :) and I remember that you reviewed ML 585 a while ago. How does it compare to Gryphon Diablo 300? :) Please keep up the good work! Thanks, Marcin
@@marcinkantoch7176interesting some youtubers claim the crowns are glory Amps goes to show
The 585 could be an option for sure I dont remember it being like the Gryphon. Are you 100% it's the amplifier either brands of big amps are ATL Parasound maybe musical fidelity sell a beast of an integrated I think 500w per channel
@@PursuitPerfectSystem I hope it is the amplifier. It may also be the speakers, but all the reviews say that JBL L100 Classic have tremendous bass control, impact and heft, so I am not sure why I am not getting it. I spotted that with higher power amps (150W/8ohm) I borrowed to try from my friends the control of the woofer gets better. Now I have a class A 30W/8ohms dual mono design, but it is not a good match for those speakers. The funny thing is that this amp has no problem with driving other speakers in my room, even monitors which have low sensitivity. Here it struggles, the bass is "one note", slow and not impactful at all. The room is not a factor as other speakers had good bass in the same room and I don't hear any obvious room resonances. I want to try a higher power amp to see if it helps. Mark Levinson 5805 would be in my budget used at around 3500 pounds. Thats why I asked about the show coverage you recorded, where this combination was playing. This combination seems to be a go to system when Harman is exhibiting L100 classic at shows. This amp is 130W/8Ohms and 210W/4ohms, so a moderate specification, but looking at the weight of it, it should have more than decent capability of controling the woofers. I will try to do everything to be able to audiotion it with L100 before making a decision. In the end if this amp won't be able to drive those spekaers properly, then maybe it is better to change the speakers :)
Really need to play some Slayer Angel of Death to fully demonstrate system
Angel of Death nuanced textures are more profound on the K2s
@@herrtrigger7220 sure , then again the k2's cost what 5 times more?

great sound plus not the usual music type seen in demo's, something upbeat for a change.
the link for the first song is to Amazon for a Yello toy?
Sorry about that not sure what happened there
JBL. Top. (Brasil)
Jbl of cuore.
Listening to a live performance without electronic amplification is the only reference source I use. I avoid snake oil in a plastic bottle, no matter the hype. But there are a lot of deaf people with money who think the 'latest thing' equals "quality."
The main problem with that reference method is when you listen to recorded audio on a hifi system its totally different to live music because your listening to the microphone placement not your seated position in the venue and your in a completely different venue. That's my 2p worth :)
Have a set of JBL Studio 290's. They hit way above there price point.
I would have liked hearing these speakers playing more complex music. This kind of music becomes grating fast through any speaker.
My l100a speakers sound their best in a near field situation.
Maybe this newer version can play a larger space with the listener back away as they are set up in this video.
I know huh? Play some Paula Abdul!
Here would be these square with yellow speakers of 10 square meters to put and connect to the compo. Now I'm running for an amplifier for $100,000.
