I could listen to you dudes talk about anything.... the subject matter is almost irrelevant, cuz the value for me is just hanging out and relaxing with you dudes, not learning some arbitrary information. You guys always deliver and leave me with a smile on my face!
@CasinoGuitars somewhere out there every time you post a video, is someone having a really hard time... that found you guys and just for a little while they get to take refuge in one of your videos, and hang up their problems for a minute so they can catch their breath... what you guys do is incredibly important, and the impact you have on the world is far greater than you will ever know... on behalf of all the people that haven't had a chance to say it yet.... THANK YOU!
I went into a GC after my shift at the pizza shop nearby, still had my work shirt on. The manager asked me how much I thought the mics I was looking at were worth in pizza. 30 minutes later I showed up with 8 pies, left with two pencil condensers. Classic win win.
I love it when guitar shop employees do this for loyal customers. I checked out a sale at a shop for the place I usually go to, many years ago, & got a discount on my next purchase & few small things thrown in for free. It's just good that there are so many people that will take care of each other in the guitar game!!!!!
GC used to do that. I bought several guitars from them in the mid 2000’s and I always negotiated the price and I always asked for little things like a strap, strings and guitar stand. They always accommodated my requests. They were even decent straps. They would tell me a price limit on the strap and I would pick one out. This was the Nashville GC. They knew their gear and were always right on the spot to help, no matter what the item. I would even get discounts on pedals. Once they negotiated a deal on a Gibson Les Paul and then I asked for a military discount and got 10% on top of the negotiated deal. I’m sure those are harder to come by now. The GC nearest me is junk so I don’t even go anymore. Sad.
@@bks252 I went to the same local store for from when I started singing with a band in 1999, added rhythm guitar to my resume 2001 years until the owner sold it & retired in 2008. I got to know the people there quite well. One of the guys knew that another store had a sale on EVH Wolfgang guitars. He asked me if I'd check out the prices. I did & when I came back he gave me 2 or 3 packs of strings & a bunch of picks. I was 21 at the time so I was pretty happy. I was at the same store for about 2 hours playing different guitars. There was a family of 3 shopping for the kids first guitar. One of the parents asked me if I was there often. I raved about how great their customer service was. I was there the following weekend & was told that the people I spoke with bought there & mentioned talking "to a customer". Again they gave me a bunch of little stuff that adds up. That shop is still open, still has really nice people but no inventory & not very reliable when ordering anything. Anything more than an effect pedal, or something that's at the store, I'd go else where.
I don't know if Casino Guitar considers me an MVP, but they are my go to guitar shop. I've purchased three guitars and two amps from CG and the transactions were wonderful. In the beginning, before I'd purchased a guitar, I talked to Jonathon on the phone for half an hour discussing a potential fender build. He was knowledgeable and pleasant and answered all of my stupid questions. I ended up buying a Fender Custom Shop from off the wall and I couldn't be happier. I really enjoy your videos, keep them coming!
I think I’ve just recently been crowned a VIP at my favorite local shop. Owner called me giving me a heads up on a few guitars he had coming in. Great dude, never tells my wife how much I’ve actually spent there.
One day my wife and I are going to take a road trip from the ATL area to your shop. We’ve already talked about it. I desperately want a shop around here just like yours. We have a great local luthier who builds incredible guitars but they mainly just sell used gear or inexpensive new guitars. Look out boys because we are coming! Don’t know exactly when but I can’t wait to meet you guys.
G'day Jonathon & Baxter, I had a giggle with your donut comment.... When I was working at the bike shop, people would come in with a little problem, which would take a minute to fix, and then we'd send the custommer on their way. For those jobs, we had 2 rules. The first rule was, if you don't add any parts, don't charge them. The second rule was, if they insist on paying, 3 separate times, the fee is 1 vanilla slice for every staff member. We even had a preferred bakery to send them to. Thanks for a great video Andrew
I feel you on customers being crappy. If you're going to buy a guitar, buy the damn guitar! Don't jerk the store around. I have a buddy who works at a music store and occasionally I will get some great deals, that said I WILL NOT jerk him around. Back in 2020 I bought a Epiphone Les Paul Special in TV Yellow, the first year it came out for the NICER price. I had been waiting for THAT model to come out since 1996 and I went and put some money down when he said he had it. I then went and paid it off the next paycheck and he gave me a great price on an Epi hardshell case too. I'm glad I bought that one too because the next year the price just went up considerably, like $350-$500! I got it at the EXACT price I wanted to pay for it and what I thought it was worth. Treat your guitar shop friends like you would your preferred tattoo artist and DO NOT jerk them around... AT ALL!🤨
Good video. I know that the relationship you develop and more important to me is how the store and the staff I interact with make me feel when dealing with them. I don’t want the feeling that I am just another customer and to feel pressured to make a purchase or they are too busy to give me adequate time. I don’t feel I have a “friendship” with the couple stores I deal with but I do feel that they are there to help me make the best decision for my needs and I trust their recommendations. I also find that these stores are quick to get back with me and offer a good price often without asking for any discount. Thanks for your insight.
Bill, Thank you for sharing your experiences here. Great points and all the best to you always in your musical journey and adventures. If we can ever help just let me know as well.
I had a regular sales guy at L&M's in Toronto in the 90's. I'd bought a lot of stuff from him, and also brought friends to meet him over a course of years. One day he called me and said there was a special guitar going into the annual basement sale that he knew was right up my alley. I was first in line on sale day, and as soon as I saw it, I knew which one he was talking about. That day I bought my Strat plus deluxe for 1/2 retail price, and it's been my favorite guitar for over 25 years now.
I am a vip for one of our local stores. It is real nice to be appreciated for the business we bring. And your right usually get first dibs on limited runs and always some form of discount on stuff
my favorite guitar shop (twin towns guitars, mpls) will usually throw in a strap and setup if you buy a decent guitar. they have an excellent variety all the way from squire classic vibes, to fender/gibson custom shops... the employees are all excellent and have looked out for me on repairs, and saved me a lot of money. I drive way out of my way to shop there. I always buy something when in go there, even if it's just some strings.
Hey Baxter. Haven’t talked in awhile. Good video. Wanted to tell you the other day my granddaughter told me the guitar we worked out to get her there was her that’s what I would take if house caught on fire thing. Hope you had good Thanksgiving. York
Casino has learned how to ACE the guitar VIP Experience, from special order Custom Shop Fenders to what Strings or pedals work best. They treated me like Family, it had to be the Tele, when it first came out no one had them or could get them
If l lived in or around Southern Pines l would probably be a squatter. Your shop is chock full of premier guitars and amps and stuff. Best thing is you guys offer the guitar shop experience l grew up with and haven’t experienced in many years.
Well since I'm up North in Canuckastan & my Thanksgiving was last month. I would like to wish all my American friends and family and Casino viewers wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. Keep your friends and family close even if they do play bass 😂. To all the staff at Casino, keep up the great work, 100k will come soon. Happy Thanksgiving all.
Not necessarily as we are known terrible business folks and prefer good natured hangs to that...well most of the time...:) Thanks a ton for commenting and having some fun!
You guys are so true when you say romance your dealer. I am like a brother to my local guitar shop owner. He knows when I say I want something I'll buy it and he has the money in 1 week. I always leave a deposit even thought he always says no, but he is still a business.
I dont know that I was a VIP but when I was 18 and buying my first set of decent gear the manager of the local shop would let me take guitars and amps home to try them out in my own environment for a few days before I decided. Granted my dad was a fairly well known local musician but I miss those days when there was concierge local service like that. Sadly there arent many local shops like that left
This is a common dealer tactic. If you want to be higher up on the list for limited editions, you have to spend a ton of money in the first place. May be worth it, up to you as the buyer.
I used to drive a bus, and the T, and the Inclines for Port Authority in Pittsburgh. My buddy had a small guitar shop, more or less along/near some of my routes. I'd get lucky some days and have a 30-45+ minute layover, and I'd stop at my other friends' PIZZA 🍕 shop that I used to run for him and worked at for a long time when I was a younger, and He'd give me a couple pies, I'd take them down to the guitar shop and hang out and jam and stuff till my next inbound trip. The best part is where I would park these Busses lol. And how I would park them...backing into a spot against the curb with just enough room to scare the shit out of onlookers. If I had 12 inches of room from my bumper, It wasn't even a challenge.
I would love to have a VIP relationship with my local - they have a ton of cool stuff but are open by appointment only. Miss just being able to stop by on a Saturday and chatting with the staff and other customers. Also occasionally walking out with something I never had intended on buying and having to explain it to the wife. As a result I’ve only been to the place once and have never bought anything from them.
I have a feeling the guy who came in the next day for the '69 LP was picking it up for his buddy from the day before. I hope not, but I can't help but think it!
Hot take. I’m an at least weekly regular at a handful of local shops. Spend way more than I should at all of them and consider them dear friends. This relationship has had an adverse effect on my customer service experience. I’m always pushed to the side in favor of making better experiences for less frequent or new customers. It’s an across the board thing that happens in most industries, I think. The best service experiences I’ve had have been shopping at new guitar shops on the road as a new customer.
well you wouldn't be in the wrong to let them know when you specifically need help, but if you're there for 4 hours you know darn well you can't monopolize their time that long. I hang at a store sometimes, but I don't try and interfere with daily business. I also try to help newbies when appropriate without killing sales
hot damn i must be a VIP the fact i live on a island in the south Pacific is neither here or there ,, but i do get that first phone call .. and i do bring food in for my friends at the shop on the regular whether I'm buying anything or not .. never thought about shoes lol . have too admit i would have a serious problem if i ever visited Nashville mostly because of shipping involved

If you’re serious, the shop will usually work with you to get you the guitar, but don’t tire kick… 6) Don’t visit every weekend. 7) Buy the shop guy coffee or pizza. These guys will appreciate you if you’re cool, genuine. It helps if you can play, most of all don’t be a dick. 😊
'Friend of ours' means he's known to the organization. 'friend of mine' means he's a friend of the guy saying that. I read that in book about a mob hitman who went to prison for killing the look-alike by mistake.
I’m a GC VIP. I buy Pro Coverage on EVERYTHING I buy. Guitar picks? Check. Guitar strap? You bet! Strings!? You better believe it! Strings are $9.99? Let’s make em thirty-five. 😂😂😂
Haven't you noticed that Baxter will always find a silver lining even on a turd. Don't destroy what could be a dilution with possible truth or facts. He will always figure out a way of making a story a beautiful one no matter what the reality may be, that is one thing I really dig about him. Beats the mindset of most who just focus on the world coming to an end. LOL 🤠 Have a wonderful day, even if it really isn't. 😁
@BaxterClement (spelling? lol) You do know in your heart sir, that he probably sent one of his bandmates or "roadie friend" in to buy that poor Les Paul? I mean, I prob. would have. lol Happy Thanksgiving Bax to you and yours (including employees lol)

Guitars are like women, we just wanna play with a lot of them, but to do so usually have to buy in, and then it's cheaper to keep her. Also, you dream about one, want so bad, then get one, and notice the compromises that come with any such thing and either settle or go back to searching and repeating the same cycle as many times as it takes you to learn what you need for you. Yep, just like a women (to women lovers that is).
Tip 1, bring a garbage guitar and argue over the price they offer. Then, wear the other stores merch in the store. Buy a piano and return it. Man, play loud and badly. Retune the guitars to drop c. Leave the amps on. Use a quarter for a pick to demo a new guitar. Smell bad. Bust the merchants balls in presence of VIP customer. Ask if they still have the guitar "porn picks" like they used to. Offer to do lessons for children only.

Definitely no arbitrary information here. For that, there’d have to be some information period! Lol

I’m a GC VIP. I buy Pro Coverage on EVERYTHING I buy. Guitar picks? Check. Guitar strap? You bet! Strings!? You better believe it! Strings are $9.99? Let’s make em thirty-five.
😂😂😂
That was perfect! Well played sir, well played!
As an Italian, a friend of ours means something totally different. 😂
I just tried to pull in a VIP favor at my shop (I've spent over $30,000 there) and there was zero support. Not everyone is as cool as you guys
do you think the guy who you wouldn't sell that guitar to sent someone else in the next day to buy it?
Haven't you noticed that Baxter will always find a silver lining even on a turd. Don't destroy what could be a dilution with possible truth or facts. He will always figure out a way of making a story a beautiful one no matter what the reality may be, that is one thing I really dig about him. Beats the mindset of most who just focus on the world coming to an end. LOL 🤠
Have a wonderful day, even if it really isn't. 😁
What if: my only (to my knowledge) neighborhood/closest guitar store is a Guitar Center? West of Cleveland OH
What if you live outta state. Our local shop are Jerks..other than that all we have is G.C.
He sent his buddy in the next day to buy that LP for him lol

Guitar flipping God Crickets Unite!
@BaxterClement (spelling? lol) You do know in your heart sir, that he probably sent one of his bandmates or "roadie friend" in to buy that poor Les Paul? I mean, I prob. would have. lol Happy Thanksgiving Bax to you and yours (including employees lol)

Money talks. I also don't waste shops time. If I've got the money I bite. If I don't, I don't waste their time.
You know you have too much money when you come up with the brilliant idea to buy a 69 LP, just to trash it.
I will trade you 2 shoes for just 1 guitar.
you should retitle the video to " how to treat guitar collectors better than guitar players."
