I think when the child wanted to share his food the teacher said”she doesn’t want your food;”she should have said, that is nice you want to share your food but she has her drink. So he will not feel uncomfortable about his actions
It's awesome to see the children picking up the block and putting the blocks on the shelves. When teacher encouraged them to clean up together as the ants did.
Hi, Samira. All of our classroom resources are free to download, print, and share from our website, challengingbehavior.org/implementation/classroom/practical-strategies/
Thank you for sharing these strategies great for parents and teachers. It takes a lot of love, patient, understanding and dedication. The outcome is so satisfying at the same time, we are forming great citizens. :)
Children do well with new skills this give the children the opportunity to make their own decisions and chang and correct it if they want to fix it if they need to, it's a effort.
They are our 'solution kit' cards. They have been updated since this video. You can find them in resource library by searching 'solution kit'. challengingbehavior.org/resources/ They come in classroom and home versions, as well as English, Spanish, and other languages (home edition).
I noticed that all of the children in this appear to be about 3 years old or older. Also, I am wondering whether any of the children have any receptive and/or expressive language delays or disabilities that would require different techniques to be used in order to teach them those same skills.
Thank you for this comment! The Pyramid Model is a framework designed to support children's social and emotional development and competence. We always recommend tailoring learning opportunities to the young children in each space, meaning these practices and strategies will vary across environments depending on the children, families, providers, and program. Children with disabilities often need more targeted or individualized support than children without disabilities. They learn the same concepts alongside their peers but may, for example, benefit from more opportunities to practice or visual supports that break down concepts into more steps. The most important thing for providers to do is to get to know the children in their environment-their preferences, learning styles, strengths, and areas of need-and to tailor social and emotional supports accordingly. It is also important to monitor children’s social and emotional learning over time to ensure the strategies used are effective for them. We hope this helps!
@@PyramidModel All of that is very clearly explained and makes sense to me, in theory. The struggle I have, however, is in practice. In practice, where, "Children with disabilities often need more targeted or individualized support than children without disabilities," I can only provide comparatively as much (or comparatively as little) targeted and individualized support to any one child within my ratio of 6 2 year olds (in a room that contains up to 13 - and soon to be 15 - 2 to 3 year olds, in total, and with just two other adults present), for any amount and frequency of time as is possible for me to do, but without that also unfairly taking away from (any number of) each of the other children in my group also receiving their own due and needed share of targeted and individualized support (and without my having to flat out ignore the various other children in the room).

I am working as a first time teacher assistant for a an early childhood care center and your videos are really helping me a lot. Thank you so much.
I watched the video 11/17/24. It was very helpful and a reminder of things that should always take place in the classroom though out the day.
Respect for early childhood educator's, little people, and parents. ❤️🇨🇦

The teacher did a very good job with the open-ended questions with the two students who wanted to play with the blocks.

Agreed! She could have even prompted the little girl to say “No thank you”
Exactly I would have praised him for wanting to share and then taught the little girl to say no thank you!
This was very informational and entertaining, the staff were so dedicated to teaching the children
