    Just finished this as my first project ever. Thanks to your video it turned out almost perfect, I would have been completely lost with just the written instructions.

    Even if I am not making the garment you are sewing along to, I still watch your videos, they are so very good, your instructions, manner, explanations as to why are really amazing. One of the best tutorials on You Tube. Thank you for taking the time to share.

    I've been frustrated with off the shelf coats for a while. They always seem too long in the sleeve for me, and not long enough at the bottom. So I've been thinking about making my own coat. This is the ideal video for this. I'll have to try a few smaller things first before tackling this project, but this makes the whole thing a little less daunting.

    I have a qualification test for the next two days and I have to sew a trenchcoat, which I never did in my entire life. I already sewed most of the components before (and it definitely helped rewatching some of the parts) but I never understood that flap thing until I watched your video :D HUGE THANK YOU FOR SAVING MY A$$

    Awesome trench! I love the sew-along and that you are creating these great videos. I sewed a sport coat as a first big mens outerwear project. I have a dream wool fabric I've been eyeing for years that I'd love for a trench coat like this one. But I'm worried about a couple of things: 1) Sewing thick wool is hard. Any tips? 2) You have a very slim body (congrats!) but I do not. Any pattern will look terrible on me, and I will have to make adjustments to the pattern, or really just give up and not even try because it may be a huge waste of money and time and nerves. But perhaps you have some encouraging words!

    I’ve always wanted to make a trench coat base off the sketches I’ve drawn recently. If only I had a sewing machine, other sewing equipment and materials to make the coat for me to wear it in public.

    Amazing tutorial. I wanted a wool overcoat but couldn't find any that fit properly without a jacket underneath as well as with a light (leather) jacket on. I'm guessing overcoats and trench coats are basically the same in Constructuon in that they're double breasted long coats. Just have to skip the storm flap and that thing at the back. Awesome work!

    Norris, I love your video and the way you explained it this really helped me to understand exactly what to do. I’m ready to buy the pattern and try this for my grandson’s. Can I ask what type of fabric you used for your lining with the faux leather? Thank you I hope you do more videos your very good at it.

    • @mmoedinhas
      @mmoedinhas 11 месяцев назад

      I'm working on this fabric and just normal lining fabric will do. Any fabric actually! That's light and non stretch, for example, if you have rests of cotton popplin lying around that match the color of your coat, go for it
      I'm making mine in a faux yellow color and I bought lining fabric in brown

      Depending on how you want it to fit. If you want it oversized not much at all, but if you want it more fitted you may wanna adjust the shoulder, sleeve length, & maybe the length of the trench over all. Let me know what you plan to do.

    Great sew along Norris! Your voice is very soothing. I am in the process of making a cream color faux leather jacket....actually I made the purchase from Melenated Fabrics. Beautiful fabric! I've been sewing for a long time...but I am afraid of adding buttonholes on my faux leather jacket....I want some type of closures but not sure what yet....maybe snaps...idk... What type of buttonholes did you make? Great job!

      I know this is veeeery late on, but leaving this here for anyone that would like to tackle this project later on and have the same doubt
      Follow this tutorial on how to do bound leather buttonholes and they will end up looking just like the ones on this video ruclips.net/video/N87ujM1qDgg/видео.html
