This is a good video, but the word 'evil' was used to describe the shadow way too much. C. Jung's shadow self is simply a personality trait that a person is not aware of having. Typically it is not an evil quality. If a man is sexually attracted to men, but is in denial about being a homosexual, then that is his shadow self. It is not ''EVIL''. That man would probably project by hating and criticising homosexuals on TV. If he suddenly realises to himself how hypocritical he's been, and accepts the truth of his sexuality, then in that instant, his shadow self is gone. It gets transformed into his conscious awareness. Now he has control over how he chooses to deal with his sexuality, instead of being unconsciously driven by it in irrational ways. Another prime example of shadow is if a lady gossips quite a lot. If she believe that she is very discreet, and passionately condemns other people who gossip, then that is her shadow self. Her denial about being a gossip is annoying, but it is not ''evil''.
“Nothing has a stronger influence psychologically on their environment and especially on their children than the unlived life of the parent.” ― Carl Gustav Jung
Wow this is a good one. It reminds me of the idea of reincarnation, only as if my previous life was my parents’ lives. Your parents’ karmic debt is repaid not in their next life, but in yours.
Pretty sure this is about the parents' expectations to have the child succeed where they couldn't and give the child what they didn't have, but you guys keep up the pseudointelectuallism
@Loco Moco I feel you. Remember that everything you fear is a reflection of a part of you you're rejecting, shadow work with somatic experiencing would be great for you. Remember you have a relationship with it, nurture that part you're afraid of and see it's just a part of you. Maybe take a look at Byron Katie, Peter Crone, Jordan Peterson, Mastin Kipp.
This question has occupied my mind for couple of weeks now can anyone help? If the unpleasantness that you see in others are merely your shadow projections then how do you explaine a killer? If you see a killer you will hate them, would this still be considered your shadow projection?
Although we are all somewhat alike and blanco by birth, Its dangerous to project your own personal intentions onto others. Like: I mean well, so the other probably means well too. Or statements such as: ' Others are just a mirror of you' No its not! Many people fill in the other in a way that suits their own ego self. They make you someone you are not and never will/can be. Parents are a good example of false projection onto their children. If you dont listen your a bad kid. The kid feels unsafe, becomes sad bc it never had bad intentions but wasnt able to explain with words. Parents see an angry child and project "annoying child" bc they're afraid its personal.. So the child needs some punishement. Give no attention to it, or without food to bed, or in the hallway with it, or worse give it a slap. Many misunderstandings arise in early childhood bc of valse mirroring. This doesn't mean we are all killers or mother Teresa. Just stop projecting onto others. Dont use others as a mirror for your lack or shadow side. They cant be you.
@@khashy87 No. The faults of other people CAN be the same as your own faults, and if you can't see those faults in yourself, then that is your shadow self. But other people can have faults that you DON'T have.
Everybody has wounds, everybody has fears, everybody has violent instincts. You mustn't through that away and believe that you can be only light, because those are the worse kind of people. Healing doesn't make the scars desapear, they will hurt sometimes, like a bone that has been broken will hurt before raining or something like that. But because it hurts you there, you will be able to understand others better on that where you had the biggest battles.

You work in the medical field? Freud might highlight why your shadow self manifests a darker... shadow, for a lack of a better word. People who pursue a life saving career in medicine may be compensating for a more violent proclivity that rests in the shadow. It makes sense, but I’m not really going that far into it as I don’t know much!
Your videos helped me a lot. Thank you so much. One day I will also start something like this that you do, but in my mother tongue,so people who don't speak English could get familiar with philosophy.
There is a constant battle between the egoic personality self and the authentic true real Self for control of the human being. It's a struggle trying to maintain the True Self amidst life's appearances, suggestions and temptations. The effects of external appearances, suggestions is hypnotic and mesmerizing. One falls prey to these temptations moment by moment where the true Self is overwhelmed and overidden by our over identification with the egoic personality self.
You could have that latent potential hidden away in the Shadow. So, the question is “Why would becoming organized and successful be something you’re trying to avoid?” Often times parts of ourselves sabotage what we consciously want for reasons we’re not aware of. So... what would be so bad about becoming organized and successful and why might you be trying to avoid it?
No it means you’re allowing your shadow, or the messed up parts of your subconscious, to drive your conscious everyday life and actions. I don’t think you understand the shadow.
I have been working with my shadow self trying to bring out the deeply hidden and neglected emotions..... I was not able to be angry until the age of roughly about 40... then it hit like a tsunami, waves of rage, anger, emotions, events and thoughts. i was knocked on the head in my earlier years so there may be some damage there as well on top of all the other trauma and injuries. There is progress to be had.
When you stop seeing the world as good and bad, it is just normal and flowing with time. I think this is the wholeness of "good" and "bad" just becoming normal. I'm not a "good" or "bad" person, just a person overall. The peace I gained after shadow work has allowed me to eliminate, eliminate might be the wrong word, but have an equalization of my being. Negative and positive doesn't exist in my inner world as to my waking world, everything is normal to me and been normal for a few years. No chaos or inner struggles, just peace and calmness.
So i prescribe to the concept that OnceUponATime addressed, which is that darkness isn't evil, it's just alone. Light, therefore, isn't good it is simply having people around you. Then you look at the opposite-world south park. "Evil-cartman" is actually super nice, but he is alone and considered a shadow-personality to be rejected among his evil peers. Considering the context is important for understanding the individual's shadow and if we can apply shadow work to individuals from rough backgrounds perhaps we can more effectively rehabilitate them.
I find it chilling to realize that personal experience creates a mechanical response to the moment to moment experience. It is very difficult to change personality. Like we naturally adapt to the momentum of the past. I know many very smart people who have personal problems they seem to be stuck with. An example would be changing diet. Or obsessing about certain people. Knowing is often insufficient to change. Chilling in the shadow.
This channel always surprises me. I am often drawn in because the topics interest me.. soon I realize that the narration, imagery and editing of the video is appealing and to top it off their sense and sensibility about the topics is meaningful. This channel is very inspiring and refreshing, one of those that immediately give me hope telling myself Oh! People making and watching video essays Still have something inside we are not all just moving through a dull drum generation.
Perfect timing on this video! I've just started reading Jung's Man in Search of a Soul, and watched fight club for the first time a couple of nights ago! Cheers Einzelganger
We all have our inner light and our darknesses and it can be conflicting. It's like putting your head under a pillow. Your inner darkness wants you to suffocate and your inner light wants you not to suffocate and wants you to live forcing you to pull your head out under your pillow and breathe.
Omg 😳. I watched this before bed and I had a dream I was looking outside my apartment, there is a field right outside, and a white and black wolf were visiting. They were both huge but the black one a bit bigger. They were just walking around but would always look at me. It was oddly peaceful... even though you could see it as an invasion, it didn’t feel like it. If it were real life I guess it would’ve felt like a more dangerous situation, but in dreams our brain knows it’s being feed symbols, even if we don’t fully realize we are in fact dreaming. What an experience. Dream interpretation is definitely a big one here.
Of course you mentioned Fight Club! One movie I've always related to! The inner turmoil is REAL😳 Don't hurt yourself in the process of trying to cope with things, it can get bad fast! Stay safe all. I think comedy is very helpful for this suffering!!!!
The bring two halves together is to pivot a quarter on its edge on a razor blade that's on a rope high above various hazards. To master this one must have an inner balance of coming to terms with your dark side. Its tricky to accept them and your can't trust it fully for its nature since it wants you to slip up just a little bit. It almost seems like it's there to force or train us to keeps our wits about.
The inner rage inside of me conflicts with the fact that don’t want to hurt people but bc of it I’ll been abused and and hurt a lot and I just did nothing 😢
I thought this was very moving. I've had a few spectacular clashes with my shadow self over the years. I find being as honest as I know how with people to be very liberating. If I'm talking with someone and notice I'm struggling to agree with them, or actually have the feeling that my throat's constricting, it's time to either confront them (politely if possible) or retreat entirely and note that encounter for possible future action.
I enjoy your channel. Great motivation and insight. Great voice , literally. Well thought in the hope of greater good. 😀Even when things amount to Self. Thanks 🙏
May you consider putting the advertisement in the beginning of you videos? I found the endings of your videos are the best without an advertisement in the end.
I see your point, but I personally prefer it thisssss way- when I’m attempting to watch something legit in a sea of insignificant, redundant turds, a commercial for wrinkle cream or some meal delivery service F’s up the ambiance before it starts ... in my opinion .
As human beings we are receivers and transmitters of energy. In the vedas we are taught that the dark and light inside of us is the demi gods and demons battling inside of us. In the Gnostic texts we are taught that it is the Archons who are the dark force and the christos or Christ energy inside of us battling. It is like the story of the two wolves fighting inside of us and the one who wins is the one you feed. It is accepting and knowing what your shadow side is capable of is facinating. I personally have created terrible acts of violence in the past, but actually deplore violence and violent behaviour. I too have caused great harm to people, but what makes me feel good is actually helping people. It is truly a facinating study to see how life actually is, and what is repressed inside of us. Another very insigthful video. Thank you for your dedication and research to help enlighten your fellow human. Excellent. :)
The shadow I believe comes from our spinal brain, that is responsible for our wants and needs. While our big brain filters what is righteous and what is not. This is why we differ from other mammals. Nevertheless our primitive brain some times takes over and we do the things the simple way, like animals. This is my opinion of Fight Club, haven't seen Breaking Bad though. Thanks for the video Einzelganger, best of luck for you !
Can you analyze the psychology of characters behind game of thrones? My question might be funny but there is lots of things yet to be decoded in George RR Martin's masterpiece.

Your videos never fail to impress me!
During this video the word fellow sufferer hit me like a brick. Much love to all. :)
I listen to this every morning
Warriors harness the monster within...badass living men
I always feel peaceful after watching yur videos eizel bhai(bro)
Thank you so much for this. Excellent video!
Always live the Jung videos!
This right here explains why liberalism is so permissive of all things.
Thank you so much ❤️.
people! that free shadow masterclass is mega! checkitout
Excellent! Loved this Jungian mini lesson. 👍🏼💗
So much wisdom in all your videos! Thank you for your commitment :)
The inner rage inside of me conflicts with the fact that don’t want to hurt people but bc of it I’ll been abused and and hurt a lot and I just did nothing 😢
Really, really good content and production quality.
Love this! Thank you for sharing so great videos ❤️❤️❤️
Your two persons are the emotion person and the rational person.
The walter white reference bro, ily
Very enlightening indeed.
There is another character named Griffith from the manga berserk who represents the shadow self

The way to light is to embrace the darkness inside you.

Okay. And thank you for this video
This may sound off topic AF, but this makes me see Sora from kingdom hearts in a new light
God I would really need my shadow to manifest as clearly as Tyler Durden. It would be so nice to be able to actually DO things
Do not fear,

donot be dismayed
for I am your Gof.
I will strengthen
you and help you
May you consider putting the advertisement in the beginning of you videos? I found the endings of your videos are the best without an advertisement in the end.
I see your point, but I personally prefer it thisssss way- when I’m attempting to watch something legit in a sea of insignificant, redundant turds, a commercial for wrinkle cream or some meal delivery service F’s up the ambiance before it starts ... in my opinion .
it's a part of us, everyone has an evil in themselves. the evil in us, has in everyone else since we're all human.
Excellent. :)
RUclips Algorithms are a thing
We must hone the darkness as a discipline.
why your timing always perfect
The shadow I believe comes from our spinal brain, that is responsible for our wants and needs. While our big brain filters what is righteous and what is not. This is why we differ from other mammals. Nevertheless our primitive brain some times takes over and we do the things the simple way, like animals. This is my opinion of Fight Club, haven't seen Breaking Bad though.
Thanks for the video Einzelganger, best of luck for you !
Summary of the entire video:

Can you analyze the psychology of characters behind game of thrones? My question might be funny but there is lots of things yet to be decoded in George RR Martin's masterpiece.
