      Yes! A Shaman for the human race. There have been a number of them around across time. They're usually killed for it though, but Jung was able somehow to not anger established powers at the time to that point. Instead, they other'd and "nazi-fied" him in the public eye for awhile.
      Regardless of that, his lessons still shine through to this day (and are more listened to and read about now more than ever before). He was certainly a great healer!
      And there more such healers alive right now (and on the way) I suspect.

    There are many who would see the world as black and white, There are many who would see the world as grey, However from my perspective the world is black and white, grey, as well as full of color. So very overflowing with different minds, ideas, and viewpoints. Perspective is marvelous, as well as dangerous. It can both show us the entirety of reality and yet also blind us to our limited vision, our limited perspective. What visionaries Jung and Watts were, to rationalize and dissect even the most cryptic of ideas. Thank you for the content, beautifully put together. Quite intellectually stimulating.

      You are forever a neophyte. Very sad. This is the worst take Alan Watts has ever had. The outer world isn't a mirror of the inner world. There is evil and it is your duty as a good person to destroy it. Not make peace with it. Do you have any idea what the evils of this world even are? They aren't something abstract like human nature! Something inescapable like death. No they are literal man eating beasts in human skin. Vampires. Werewolves. Pedophiles. Slavers. Usurers. There is plenty of evil that needs to be... dealt with.

    Beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
    I am surprised to hear Alan Watts say that "if he ever was in the position of confronting with an Eichmann, he is certain he would rise to a fury and oppose and fight him with every bit of himself"... Which TO ME, I could be misunderstanding something here, but to me, undermines and basically contradicts the very essence of almost everything that follows in his magnificent analysis of the beautiful, and brilliant work of Jung. I.E., We all like to think we would NEVER be a silent accomplice in genocide and/or atrocities of that nature; but it is that CERTAINTY of our courage to be GOOD as opposed to EVIL, that we hold on to so tightly and dearly, precisely what we need to let go off, in order to recognize ourselves as part of the spiritual ecosystem we "integrate". We are all part of that pluri-potentiality, including the possibility of chaos and even pervertion. If I don't RECOGNIZE it in me, I can't fully empathize with that a part of me (Much less others) which I need to ACCEPT, to be integrated and aligned...Anyways, Agree that this combination of souls are a blessing to us all.

    "In myths the hero is the one who conquers the dragon, not the one who is devoured by it.
    And yet both have to deal with the same dragon.
    Also, he is no hero who never met the dragon, or who, if he once saw it, declared afterwards that he saw nothing.
    Equally, only one who has risked the fight with the dragon and is not overcome by it wins the hoard, the "treasure hard to attain." He alone has a genuine claim to self-confidence, for he has faced the dark ground of his self and thereby has gained himself.
    He has acquired the right
    to believe that he will be able to overcome all future threats by the same means

    Some of this was in a RUclips video that had backing music from Donnie Darko, and a green picture of some cyborg-type person as the thumbnail/backing picture. Does anyone have a link for that video?? It was such a great listen and so well done

    Not to be pedantic but it is spelled "Hintergedanke". I absolutely love this lecture, it sets all conflict in context and thus brings peace to my heart. Nowerdays that is especially welcome.
    Is there a source of the text/transcript of the original lecture of Jung?

    Great upload. I’ve listened to tons of Watts on RUclips and his audiobook talks / print books. But I never heard this before. Maybe I wasn’t paying attention or maybe it’s just uncommon. One thing I want to mention is you can’t take an existing work (this talk) and apply a CC (Creative Commons) license seeing the original wasn’t CC to begin with. A lot of RUclipsrs have a skewed idea of copyright / copyleft / fair use. You can’t just take something and shout fair use, then apply a CC license. Fair use for educational purposes isn’t meant for how it’s being used these days. It’s like everyone just shouts fair use on anything they want to upload that is copyright protected. That is to say it’s a bummer people upload this stuff and try to earn a buck off the effort it took to upload it. It seems that very few people actually create things of their own and our culture has moved towards consuming and sharing media that someone else owns. Even if fair use applies to this specific upload, you can’t change it to a Creative Commons license. Fair use only allows you to use copyright protected media it doesn’t permit you to change the license. I get it though Creative Commons is an amazing copyleft. It’s used on everything from Linux to open source software and a lot of books. But in order to apply a CC you must have the original copyright. It is hard to explain which is probably why most RUclipsrs don’t understand how it really works. Ultimately the original work would need to the be CC version that permits use for commercial purposes which this talk isn’t.

    This lecture is indeed quite fascinating and interesting. I did disagree with Watts on some of his perspectives on Jung though but for the most part it seemed that their views were quite similar with each other.

      @foolapprentice3321 9 месяцев назад +1

      I disagree with some of what both of them say too, actually. But I wonder if you're like me in that the interesting part is how well articulated their arguments are. To me, since they are so well laid out, it allows me to disagree more comprehensively and therefore grow more.
      It isn't like when you disagree with an idiot on a visceral level and the thought involved is basically nothing.

    • @denniszaychik8625
      @denniszaychik8625 9 месяцев назад +2

      @@foolapprentice3321 Well yes. In that part we are definitely alike. I too prefer to rather disagree with a person whose arguments are well articulated for it not only has potential for good discussions but makes you think about the topic discussed as well (maybe even potentially grow a bit as you rightly said). As for idiots, while it is indeed fun to put them in their places and just laugh at how stupid their points or arguments are, overall it ends up being a bit pointless since like you said there is not much thought needed in disproving them. It also doesn't help that the same "nothing" is present in the arguments of your opponents as well for usually without the proper knowledge and understanding of the topic discussed any point that they try to prove to you is just plainly hollow.
