Beethoven's 5th Symphony is an absolute immortal masterpiece. The 4-hand piano version is a masterly testimony to this.
The details in this piece just go to show the pure genuis of it's composer!
And Liszt's for translating it to piano
Beethoven was a super human
The more I watch it, the more I think it's one of the best videos on RUclips...ever...
Only Beethoven can make diminished chords sounds so awesome and full of emotions...
“only Beethoven can make diminished chords sound so awesome and full of emotions” lol what
Breathtaking virtuocity - thank you gentlemen, for this memorable performance.
The timings and rhythm on this are more perfect, tighter and more Beethoveny than ANY version I've heard before, orchestral, piano or otherwise. And I've heard tens and tens and tens of versions!!! Thank you so much
Clearer than orchestra. Now I hear also the silent base knocking of the fate, not just the tutti knocking. All the nuances in the drama are expressed, surely thanks to excellent interpretation!
Wow, this is absolutely brilliant and breathtaking!!! I have never heard a piano version of this iconic piece before, but now I'm in love with it.
I listen to your performances for hours every day and my musician friends say they do the same thing. You both are very blessed with extraordinary talent!!! If you were my sons, I'd think I had "died and gone to heaven" [LOL]. Gina Dodds, Bellmore, NY USA
I love three things: the brothers' exquisite musicianship; the gorgeous attention to detail in the lighting, photography, and sound engineering; and the 4-hand transcription, which is personal and intimately magnificent. Thank you!!!
One of the best renditions of that piece. You both are AMAZING! Bellmore, NY USA
the one thing missing here .... the great applause for this absolutly great performance of the piece
Absolutely spectacular! Well done, perfectly fits together :)
Love the bit of a spike do on Jonathan and a slight nod to the Beatles on Tom!! The music, however, is always classic!
Both of you are the most fabulous of all. I am sorry that you do not have at least a million views. It should be 5 million at the least. Wishing you a great weekend.
I love the way this was filmed
I'm really impressed by how tight you manage to play this! Great!
Well done! Impeccable rhythm, dynamic contrast, and instrumentation of the piece. Bravo!
Bravo indeed. Liszt's transcription for two hands serves Liszt. A well-detailed duet transcription serves Beethoven. Wished they played the second mvt too.
Superb original performance. I wonder what that wonderful upright is: beautifully mellow, yet still bright at the top.
Having discovered your talents has been eye-opening. You both are amazing virtuosos and I enjoy your playing--either together at the piano, or at the piano and organ. I have spread the word to my musician friends about your talents and have been thanked for the info. Gina Dodds, Bellmore, NY USA
Damn great performance, Beethoven would be PROUD!
Magnificent boys!!!!!! Absolutely spectacular!!! Very good perfomance and interpretation!! And both one soul with Beethoven!!! Loved it!
This is magnificent in every way even to the choice of instrument.
you two are a class act of the higest sort! BRAVO!!!
SO GOOD!
Have a look at the fingers on the left player - Looong. Wonderful performance. Perfect timing, ansolutely scored to catch the essence of it all.
I love the musical intelligence and duetting brilliance! Encore - please.

Bravo, c'est pour le moment la meilleur interprétation de ce chef d'oeuvre
I love this performance! I've watched it many times. It's great to see two brothers like you, who work together, understand each other and love each other very much!
This is amazing. Great video editing also
Beautiful!
you bros are Awesome!
Did the Scott Brothers write the piano transcription? The performance and the transcription are unbelievable. Bravo!
No there is a version for 4 hands for this piece. My piano teacher had one. Judging from the sheet in front of them, they have the same.
superb performance! par excellence!!!👏👏👏
Simply wonderful, very inspiring.👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Now i want do this duet with my son
Absolute brilliance!! Thank you.
Bravo!
Amazing!!!
awesome!
wow....perfect!!!!
EXCELENT INTERPRETATION!
Bravi!! I'm so inspired as a Beethoven admirer. Especially I really love this coda part(6:15)!
Better than Liszt's solo transcription I guess👍
How about playing other Beethoven symphony movements on four hands?
That was really cool guys
You just play this music piece as it has to be plaid. Perfect. No other world could describe it better. I think Beethoven himself plaid it like this. Congratulation!
*played
Hofdori+ - PLAYED Plaid is the pattern that the Scots wear in their kilts.
Also this is a symphony... Beethoven never played this
+Scott Rockhold - In case you had not noticed the identity line states "Beethoven 5th Symphony" So what are you talking about. You mean Beethoven never played this on Piano??? Most musicians do compose using the piano and then refine the piece in practice with at least a partial orchestra. Beethoven was a pianist and did ply piano. So what is your point here. This is obviously a transcription from full symphonic score to Piano for 4 hands. What is your complaint? What are you trying to tell someone who can't read the title printed in large black letters at the top of this comment section??? By the way - Beethoven did play this.
robert shaw I don’t mean to be insulting but are you a pianist? This piece is impossible to be played by one person on a piano. I’m sure he pounded out some notes to experiment but never would he have been able to “play” this piece...
Increíble.
I've often read that piano transcription were how most people first heard Beethoven symphonies through most of the 19th Century, although it was more likely by two-hand transcriptions than four.
Oooo!!! I think this would sound good as a piano-organ duet.
Bravo ! À la manière de Glenn Gould ! Bravissimo !
👏 👏 👏 bravo!!!!!
Sono pianista come voi. Bravi..... veramente.....bravi
First rate on every level. Bravi !
Wow.......... this is really good. :) Thank you so much guys!
Fantastic!!👍👍
i wish that i could play as well as you..
+Chong Jia En Practice makes perfect!
wow did i just watch Beethoven and his twin play that was great!!!
Excellent. Perfomance synchronization is just amazing. Most orchestra perfomances I've heard have pair of slightly noticeable beat misses, even good ones. I was rather afraid this could ruin the entire piece, but this duet is really flawless.
Que lindooo! Parabéns !👏👏👏
God you guys are good
lindo demais
Ricardo-- my 1882 Ascherberg piano also is just 7 octaves , 85 keys, ends on the A, quite common in those days, I think. I suspect this upright might be a (gorgeous) example from the same vintage. Dear Scott Bros...please enlighten us!
Wow, this is a nice song
WOWWW
I love that the highest G of the keyboard is "broken" lol but wow, the keyboard ends on A? So meaning the piano is just 85 keys?
@Lucas Boan How odd. Why do you suppose piano makers suddenly decided the instrument needed _three more notes?_ I guess they _really_ were bothered by that incomplete 11th octave. :)
This must sound close to how Beethoven thought of/heard it when composing, at the piano. Of course, we're only hearing it as the composition was nearly finished. Thanks!
The performance is great! I love it, though the symphony sounds like roaring in a cabinet on the piano which is very funny( a contained anger I mean)
Cool performance. You both know how to create a show. Maybe try out directing !
So pretty
Hi Both, my husband loved your videos, playing and music. As he wasn’t well he listened a lot. Unfortunately he has passed away and I wanted to play Beethoven’s 5th by you Johnathan at the end. But the crematorium has said they don’t have it as it hadn’t been released. Is there anyway I could get a recording from you to use? Many thanks.
This is absolutely perfect!! Where do I get this version?
=) great
This is terrific! Is the music available?
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
🎹 👌🏼

MARRY MEEEEEE, PLEASEEEEEEEEEE
Amazing, are there some sheets?
Fascinating: I never once see a page turn, and it never sounds like there's time to turn, anyway. Beethoven must be turning for them when the video cuts to a keyboard shot. 😉
Where can find 2nd, third and fourth movement
"Gänsehaut" at 6:50 (sorry, I only know the german word for this impression)
Goose pimples
Goosebumps
The candle should have dramatically flickered and gone out at the end.
Mutating to a Beethoven Lover
