Well it depends on how much you wear suits. If it's for once in a while then yes excessive, however, if you wear suits regular that is enough

I’ll take comedy advice from Steve, even business advice, but his style advice is basic (not meaning staple pieces), and not for the more advanced in their style journey.

It’s not basic or even good advice. No one needs a black suit or tan suit. Maybe if you already own 29 suits a tan suit and black suit is great for your 30th and 31st suit.

To buy 5 suits before you learn about seasonal, fabrics, cuts/fits, etc. is terrible advice! If you were waiting on Steve to tell you, you need a black suit, you absolutely don’t! Your life would have told you, you needed it because you would have been to functions that demanded it. Since you’ve not been to any or plan to… There’s also no where you can wear a tan suit to, that you can’t choose to not wear a suit.
