Just jumped on here, looking for info on removing main cap #3. Glad you showed the process. I think you might be the only one to video the steps. I'm just removed the crank. #3 cap was a bear to remove. Thanks amigo. Off to the machine shop when I get a chance.
Awesome videos guys, I'm in the process of stripping my engine and this is the exact stage I'm at 👌 great to watch someone else do it so I know what to expect 👍
+scotslad29 sweet! Glad we can help out... Next week we will have a field trip to the machine shop and show what goes into what needs to be done to prep a block for the rebuild.
PincheALs Garage nice one mate, I need to drop mine into the shop as well to get the crank checked, the bores honed and the block cleaned. If you could do videos on every stage from now to actually firing the engine up that would be awesome, give me something to copy from lol I've got a gt28rs to go on mine and want to upgrade everything while the engine is out 👍
PincheALs Garage For example on 31min57sec you turn the crank. That's what I mean. The shells are making perfect circle only if they're tightened. If you turn the crank like that you can make scratches on the shells or on the journals. You will see when you rebuild some engines, before you torque the bolts the crank is very difficult to spin, but since you tight the bolts is spinning very easily.

How do u remove the harmonic balancer?
its just 4 Allan bolts and then just wiggle it off. the center bolt you do not touch at all
Come on guys, you suppose to never turn the crankshaft with the bearings loosen.
dlugas251 none of the crank bearing were loosen. They were all hand tighten then toraue to spec as per the Bently manual instrutions.
