As someone who has had the honor of removing these god awful bolts. A half inch impact doesn't have anywhere near enough power to break these bolts. It tool my 300lb friend literally sitting on a breaker bar to get them off.
If you haven't disconnected the starter, you can use that to remove that bolt. Just tie your breaker bar to the frame to secure it, and bump the starter. Obviously you will have to disable the fuel system to prevent it from spraying fuel everywhere.
The belt on the outside was not aligned to the bracket you put it, and second belt did it because it was straight and did not twist, therefore the strength go right in to the bolt and you got it
Take a spark plug out and pack the cylinder full of cotton rope and turn the crank manually until the piston locks on it. Leave about a foot of rope sticking out to retrieve it once you break it loose. I hope this helps someone.
Block the flywheel with a lever like the one for tires, or a strong screwdriver. That's how you do it. And of course, be sure that the thread isn't inverse.
if the engine is still inside the vehicle I use the starter, get your breaker bar setup so when you crankthe engine the bar hits the frame or something solid enough to take the blow.
@@jfGarage4k I have my engine outside the car right now. I am redoing all of the engine seals. And that meant I had to remove the flywheel and clutch. And yes, it could warp your flywheel if you left it in there. but luckily for me mine was already damaged so I ordered a new one from luk for like $30
You find a stable spot on the motor to get the break of against there and just bump the key over it will break it loose, easiest way in the world to do it
I had to show my son on his Honda, how easy it was to break the bolt loose by putting your breaker bar against the frame, and hitting the key because of the leverage of the fly wheel, will break it loose easier than you can do by hand largest of a long time ago back in 1975
crank bolt in my 95 325i fried my dewalt DCF899HB high-torque (1200ft-lb). got the bolt loose, but the poor impact had to be sent in for replacement, guts were seriously wrecked
Milwaukee ugga dugga. Max power if its a bad one. Done all types of cars never had one it wouldn't sort. I guess there must be some. But not found it yet. Nor have any of the lads I know in 3 separate garages.
I see a lot of backyard mechanics attended the Butcher's school of mechanical engineering. The easy way is not always the correct way, and, wtf were you using a ratchet ?
That isn't a breaker bar, that's a ratchet and you're crazy. I just put an actual breaker bar on the bolt while it's in the car and flick the starter. Make sure the bar hits the subframe.
Even my broke ass has a impact. The belt absorbs your torque. Bit of rop fed into the #1 spark plug hole on compression stroke can work for you if you're careful.😂👨🔧
have had one like that in honda even impact gun industrial size couldn’t do it..and my neighbour comes to me with can toilet aerosol can..few seconds sparay ..wait few secs ..spray again. like that 3 times. and when i put impact gun felt like nothing holdig bolt😅😅😅😅😅😂😂😂😂😂
Want to see an even better trick pulls out an impact
Lol exactly what I was thinking
right
impact wont have enough power
My 3/4 impact will be so much easier
As someone who has had the honor of removing these god awful bolts. A half inch impact doesn't have anywhere near enough power to break these bolts. It tool my 300lb friend literally sitting on a breaker bar to get them off.
Make the bar where you pull up and use jack to push it up to break it loose
Honda makes a socket 19mm it's weighted for impact use that's a nice trick though I'll remember that thanks
I usually stick a screwdriver on the flywheel to jam the crankshaft then i can easily loosen the crank pulley
If you haven't disconnected the starter, you can use that to remove that bolt. Just tie your breaker bar to the frame to secure it, and bump the starter. Obviously you will have to disable the fuel system to prevent it from spraying fuel everywhere.
Put a small piece of scaffolding pole or any pole like one off an old trampoline on the end of the breaker bar makes it much easier 😉
Most people know it as a cheater bar
Now torque it back on using that belt trick.
That belt flexes too much. That's your momentum going down the drain and that is why it's costing you so much effort.
And in my tool box for later that little trick goes... Genius..
Thank you for your time and patience
Of course, the belt just keeps stretching and taking the torque you're giving and only half is going to the bolt. It's called physics
Thus actually helped thanks just left a thumbs up
That is a good trick to hold the pulley until you torque it.
i used a prybar and lodged it against something to take off and put mine back on, not enough room for an impact the way i did it
The belt on the outside was not aligned to the bracket you put it, and second belt did it because it was straight and did not twist, therefore the strength go right in to the bolt and you got it
An impact works really well for that
Honda uses loctite on crank bolts. Heat them up they come right off
Block the flywheel with a heavy screwdriver
Take a spark plug out and pack the cylinder full of cotton rope and turn the crank manually until the piston locks on it. Leave about a foot of rope sticking out to retrieve it once you break it loose. I hope this helps someone.
You could bend the conn rod
Put the breaker bar on the bolt and turn the engine over.
Sounds good and all but the Crankshaft on Honda Accord's spin counter clockwise
Cant start this engine, Its on the engine stand😅
@slimmyhendrix4067 Is right on the Money Honda engine Turn counterclockwise
@@jfGarage4k I've started dozens of engines on stands. So you can have a good laugh at yourself. 🤡
Or just use an impact....
You’ll need a powerful impact for that
my Milwaukee impact did the trick just fine
Had a buddy call me because he had been fighting a crank bolt for two hours. My 1/2” impact took it out in less than two seconds 🤣
Lisle 77080 is what you need, it's fantastic for removing these
use a Chinese hot wrench on the bolt head tell it is starting to look somewhat orange, along with your drive belt trick.
Block the flywheel with a lever like the one for tires, or a strong screwdriver. That's how you do it. And of course, be sure that the thread isn't inverse.
regular 1/2 air impact pop it off easy af
Run the bar into the ground and turn the engine over if you can.
You need one of those machine gun shaped impacts with the 1" anvil. Good for tractor lug nuts n stuff
A regular 1/2 impact gun with a thick Lisle socket would work just fine, that or a 3/4” drive impact socket.
I wish you viewed your clip before utubing it like show how you wrapped the belt around the pilley
Just set the breaker bar to the ground and give engine a crank
if the engine is still inside the vehicle I use the starter, get your breaker bar setup so when you crankthe engine the bar hits the frame or something solid enough to take the blow.
Cant do that on this type of Engine, This Engine turn counter Clockwise. Need to know your Engine before doing this Bump start the starter motor
Sometimes the starter housing breaks.
If it turns the other way you just need to position the block of wood in a different spot
Can this method mess up the engine at all?
Let's say the bolt is still stuck even after cranking engine few times can it hurt the engine to keep trying it?
Please use an inpact, this puts alot of stress on the crankshaft rolling surfaces....
time to get some 3/4 breakers and rachets
Just hit the breaker bar with a hammer, same as using an impact wrench. Don’t even need to secure the pulley.
Good idea
Weighted impact sockets on 1/2 impact easy
Use a heat gun on the nut to soften the lock thread on the bolt, don’t use a blow torch just a heat gun
Ratcheting flex heads are not to use in any high break situation like crank bolts.
hold the flywheel
I use a breaker bar and starter lol just bind the breaker bar and turn the key
What happens if it spins counterclockwise?🤔
Can you not use an impact on that?
I just put two flywheel bolts in and wedged a wrench into that.
Your right on that but Its kind a shity this may warped the flywheel out do you think.
@@jfGarage4k I have my engine outside the car right now. I am redoing all of the engine seals. And that meant I had to remove the flywheel and clutch. You find a stable spot on the motor to get the break of against there and just bump the key over it will break it loose, easiest way in the world to do it
That works, but an impact gun with a thick socket is the easiest way
isnt this interferance or does this have a chain
I broke two belts trying this lol
Haha wow that ridiculous! I only broke 1 doing this I using the power steering belt at that time
I had to show my son on his Honda, how easy it was to break the bolt loose by putting your breaker bar against the frame, and hitting the key because of the leverage of the fly wheel, will break it loose easier than you can do by hand largest of a long time ago back in 1975
do you please have a video of the how somewhere? I'd love to learn from one. Thank you
crank bolt in my 95 325i fried my dewalt DCF899HB high-torque (1200ft-lb). got the bolt loose, but the poor impact had to be sent in for replacement, guts were seriously wrecked
I use a dcf899 every day working on tractors and implement, I’ve had it three years now. How the hell did you burn it up 😅
@@notkylelol it wasnt the motor as was still churning, albeit very labored. Somehow the gearbox got messed up. The new one works perfectly though
@@IzziedeD good to hear. I love my dewalt impacts! Idc what any Milwaukee guys say lol I have a 923b that makes life so much easier.
Breaker bar a block of wood and then hit the key. If you know you know.
Milwaukee ugga dugga. Max power if its a bad one. Done all types of cars never had one it wouldn't sort. I guess there must be some. But not found it yet. Nor have any of the lads I know in 3 separate garages.
You use to block the bar on the frame and crank the engine over!
Wanna see something crazier?
This tool here is called... an impact. I bought this one for 35 dollars. It is as cheap as your belt is.
This guy bought a brand new belt just to loosen up the bolt😂why not an impact gun??
Air impact
That's a ratchet not a breaker bar
Remove oil pan put a block of wood between crank and block. Done.
I see a lot of backyard mechanics attended the Butcher's school of mechanical engineering. The easy way is not always the correct way, and, wtf were you using a ratchet ?
Bravo unid stat of America
You have the engine out...lock the flywheel.
You need vitamin fire next time
"impact"
The engine was moving, then, you laid it on its side on the floor.
Use a 1/2 inch drive Milwaukee impact
yes, that works and costs almost $500 with the battery; the charger will top it to about $600
Buy a crank bolt removal socket. They're cheap.
Honda impact socket??
No this application is obviosly inside the car and impossible to use ugga dugga.
That isn't a breaker bar, that's a ratchet and you're crazy. I just put an actual breaker bar on the bolt while it's in the car and flick the starter. Make sure the bar hits the subframe.
Impact anyone?
this is not how you use a breaker bar
Might not want to use his name in vain, instead Might want to ask for help and he'll help.

1B ft😂
WD 40
Too much give..... That's why you need an impact
h22 I made a tool for that
Impact
That's not a breaker bar dummy that's a 1/2 inch drive ratchet or 3/4 inch drive ratchet.
It’s a flex handle breaker bar dude what are you on about
Wait… I see it now. He did use a ratchet at one point. Good way to break a ratchet!
I just hate seeing idiots working on Hondas
You were sitting on the ratchet
Cheap mechanic can't even buy impact gun
I got a better trick 😌 go to Amazon and buy the thick wall suckit and call it a win 🏆 buy right tools 🔧 make a life change
Not really good ticknique,,,
Why do you feel the need to take gods name in vain ?
Very offensive to Christian believers
Jeeeeeeez us
Ruining belts
Best way is put socket with bar in crack shaft and start the engine it will loosen easily 😊
So what's the trick you speak of?
I mean, if only they made a tool called an impact wrench.
been there 😂 6foot breaker bar got it
really???
