Not to mention, the dress Lottie picked out for Tiana isn't pink. Clearly, Lottie's whole wardrobe is pink, but you can see that Tiana's dress is blue, meaning Lottie had a whole new dress picked out just for Tiana.

If you listen carefully to what Lottie says as she’s taking Tiana to her room, she says “I have just the dress for you,” which basically tells also that she’s always just had a dress in mind that she knew would be perfect for Tiana.
Also, Tiana’s mom is the only seamstress Lottie uses, so the two of them probably conspired to make a customized dress for Tiana.
In retrospect, it would've been better if she gave Tiana her favorite pink dress; it'd show Lottie was willing to give it up for her friend, and less people would rally for Disney to market her in it.
Exactly. We're supposed to believe that Lottie had this one random dress that not only isn't her usual puffy pink style, but also fits and complements Tiana perfectly, for no apparent reason? I don't think so.
I've always loved their friendship. There's lots to potentially criticize Lottie for in terms of her ignorance and flaws, but that's what makes her a full and realistic character. Yes, she can be ignorant, but she means well, and ultimately wants to support her friend, even if she doesn't always understand how different their struggles are.
Yes absolutely! She can be a little ditzy and not always fully comprehend tianas struggles but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t fully care and love and support Tiana as much as she can. Glad you liked the video!
This movie was grossly under appreciated in general, but I hate how Frozen got soooo much hype for prioritizing sisterhood over romance when Disney had already given us an amazing example of a healthy female friendship years earlier that went largely unnoticed. Charlotte could’ve easily been positioned as an antagonist and rival for Tiana, and to have them instead be best friends who support each other without jealousy was such an important and subversive choice.
Absolutely!! I totally agree!! Frozen got hype over relationships that Disney had already done well and better in my opinion. They already had great sister relationships in movies prior (lilo and stitch) and this movie showed a great female friendship as well! Thank you for watching!!
My family went to the premiere in NYC. It was a bag event with all the princesses welcoming her. Its was so cool

Frozen hype is 99% because of its song, change my mind.
Lottie did ask "what happened?" to Tiana when she found her on the floor, but Tiana didn't answer and just looked distraught. Tiana did not answer likely because she didn't want to talk about it, so Lottie doesn't push it and just helps Tiana out in the way she can. So when people say that Lottie didn't ask what was wrong, she DID ASK. Lottie was a true friend to Tiana.
I also really like the voice direction they decided in that scene. The almost whiplash change from playful and teasing intonation to an outright distress and worried one. Ugh, I just love it so much.
I feel like Tiana would've told her if she wasn't flustered and if she thought Lottie would understand. Given Lottie's race and social standing, she'd likely be frustrated and not realize the reprercussions for Tiana (and herself) by sticking up for her.
Charlotte is such a great example of someone who is spoilt, but not malicious. Yes she gets upset when things don't go her way, but not when theres a reason and not when it means someone else has to pay for it. She's naive in that she wants EVERYONE to be happy not just herself

Tbh this whole thing about spoiled rich kids turning into bad people is mostly a stigma showed in more tv shows. I know some rich kids that are humble, sweet and caring, even tho they are used to get whatever they want. A child can be spoiled and be taught good manners, and respect, and that’s probably what Lottie’s father did. The bad spoiled rich kids tend to be like that, because most of the time their parents ignored them, and thought their money would replace their presence, but Charlotte was showed spending a lot of time being healthily loved by her dad, add that he wasn’t an ignorant bigot, and she never had to face any obstacle/trauma in her life except her mother’s death, so she will easily turn into a loving person.

I 100% agree with the reasons that this video stated about Tiana and Charlotte's friendship. I also have a theory that might be an additional reason to why Tiana and Charlotte are such good friends. This is speculation, but they might have become closer when Tiana lost her father. It's heavily implied at the start of the movie that Charlotte lost her mother at a young age. Now we don't know exactly how old Tiana was when her father died, but Tiana was clearly affected by her father's death, and Charlotte could easily sympathize with her on losing a parent prematurely. I personally think that Charlotte and Tiana became even closer friends because they share the same pain of losing a parent prematurely.

Oh that's right, Lottie's mother is never seen. I never even thought about that.
It gets over-shadowed by most of the stuff Lottie does cuz she's so bubbly, but there's another instance where Tiana looks after her. Remember in the When We're Human sequence, when Tiana is snapping at Naveen "You're getting married!" It's not just the whole playboy thing in general ticking her off, but the person he was intending to marry at the time was her friend Charlotte. And while she personally might find Lottie's princess dreams a little childish, they're still her best friend's dreams, and Naveen's part in the song, while not malicious, was basically crushing Lottie's dreams. Tiana might have (at the time) lost her dream, but she won't stand for her friend to lose hers as well.
Edit: Not to mention, when Tiana learns about the turned-into-a-frog thing, her first concern is "who the f*** is dancing with Lottie, then!?"

I am so happy to see a video talking about their friendship, because I think it was done so well. Charlotte especially is such a great character. She could have easily been a stereotypical selfish, spoiled brat but she wasn't. She sacrificed her life's dream just so her best friend would be happy. The scene of her helping Tina clean up, leaving the prince alone at the party, was so damn powerful. Charlotte cares way more about seeing her best friend happy over her dreams of romance and I love that.

I love Lottie's view on finding love. She says she wants to find her prince and become a princess but her whole talk here says that she wants more. She wants true love. She doesnt just want a prince but to be in true love with a prince.

Honestly the part where Lotte is concerned about Tiana being a mess and asks her what happen is one of my favorite moment in the movie

Absolutely loved your analysis. It probably isn’t perfect, Tiana and Lottie’s friendship is one of my favorite aspects of The Princess and the Frog. Aside from the fact that it’s a depiction of a mixed race friendship that rarely draws attention to that, if it all, but the two are so supportive and caring for each other. Yes, Lottie can be a bit oblivious and privileged, but she gave up her lifelong dream without hesitation for her best friend! That’s true friendship right there, people.

You know despite living in an area where segregation was very still going on strong around this time period, the duo still had an everlasting friendship despite different backgrounds, status, and race. This is something so rare and beautiful have such a relationship in this specific situation.

I always imagined that Tiana is not really open about her problems and so Lottie probably knows that even if she asked, Tia wouldn't tell her.
I also imagine if Lottie found out about Tia not getting her restaurant and those realtor jerks prejudice reasons, I can see her stomping over to those two and beating the crap out of them and demanding they give Tiana that restaurant.
You hit the nail right on the head with this movie. All the reason you listed for Lottie are the reason she's my one of my favorite characters. Yes she's hyper, very rich and spoiled but she's also got a heart of gold.

The one thing that always upsets me is hearing people refer to these two as 'best friends'. They're sisters, as much family to one another as to their own parents...and each other's parents for that matter. Let's not pretend Tiana's mother didn't grow to love Lottie over the years, or that Lottie's father didn't see her as his less-spoiled daughter

I hate seeing all these post's how about Charlotte is a 'bad friend' or 'stuck up' when she clearly isn't, she cares about Tiana and while yes she IS spoiled and ignorant she isn't mean, she doesn't see Tiana, or anyone for that matter, like they're below her. And you can't really blame her for BEING ignorant or spoiled either, it's clear her Dad gave her everything she's ever wanted and more, of COURSE she'll be ignorant of her privileged, it's all she's ever known, and Tiana wouldn't have 'dragged Charlotte into her problems' if she HAD seen what those assholes did she'd probably have raised hell about it.
Not going to lie I don't think I saw the trailer for this movie because my first memory that it was a thing was the poster found in theaters.
And when I first saw it (the poster) they had Charlotte posed and smirking in such a way I thought *SHE* was either the big bad or at least connected to the big bad.
I was delightfully surprised to be proven wrong.
I can see she LOVES Tangled as well, and I 100% love her too since I am also barefoot and have long hair (not THAT long, lol). But, YES YES YES, I LOVE THIS, Tiana and Charlotte is such a good dynamic because Charlotte, while she has her ignorant moments, truly cares for Tiana and wants the best for her, and Tiana is able to be herself around her and feel supported, despite their differences. I personally love Charlotte because it shows that you can be rich and ignorant but still wanna be and can be nice, and help others without taking over. I also LOVE Tiana because she is able to make the best of a situation, work hard, but not at the expense of all her negative feelings, and she is able to express herself and say what she wants, even if she doesn't get it or it takes longer to get there.
I would like a movie that lottie will find her prince charming ❤

I LOVED Lotte from the instant I saw her as an adult as she shrieks in her car.
She is just the Sun personified and how she helps Tiana without any hint of jealousy or envy is BEAUTIFUL.
And I completely agree, no doubt whatsoever that Lotte tried a million times to help Tiana pay for a restaurant and was declined and was SALIVATING when she could finally give her the money in an “official” capacity that appeased Tiana’s desire to be self sufficient.
Lotte NEEDS to be in the Tiana series on Disney Plus or I will be SO SAD!

I swear, I love the princess and the frog is my favorite, I love Tiana and Charlotte as characters, is possible to see, how close they are, not like ( Anna and Elsa in them movie ).
Even if the grow up in difference ways they are really close and always there one for the other, in both scenes when Charlotte could obtain everything she always wanted Marry a prince and became a princess she always put Tiana first, for example in the first ball when Tiana fell in to the ground, she could see Tiana and say: you can Gettin up yourself? And return to dance with the Prince, no she say: what happen? Are you alright Tia ? And when she saw Tia suffer she stop and help her getting up, go in her room and change her costume with a beautiful dress and when she say “ I have a gown perfect for you” she always had one or more for Tiana.
The second time when Frog Navine propose the deal him will marry her but she had to give to Tiana the money she need for the restaurant yes in the first moment she had thought to herself for marry a prince but when him say: “ Tiana is my Evangeline” is possible to see her understand navine and Tiana are in love yes she accept the dale but in the meantime she think for herself and Tiana.
And when she saw those to in love, she put herself apart and be happy for them, is not a case she is present in both Ceremonies for Tiana and Navine Marriage that mean they trust her.
If she wasn’t so close to Tiana she could became screaming, crying be angry and said this my Wish, i always wanted and other things.
And the mean time is show how much Tiana care for her, when Charlotte asked the 500 bignè she could say: no is impossible no matter how much you pay me is impossible.
But no she accept and they are both happy, because Charlotte could have the secret weapon of her best friend for make the prince her, and the meantime she Tiana said I could open the restaurant she jump and smile like a child because she saw the greatest wish of her friend became true.
Only I noticed at the beginning of the movie when Tiana start the turn at Duke’s Charlotte and her father entry inside the restaurant with tranquillity, I mean the frog and princess is in a New Orleans of 1926, when the cities was divided in two part the part of white persons and the part of the black persons, the only exceptions when a black person could entry in white persons territory was because they had a job like Tiana Mother or the Nannies, but Tiana could entry and Exit in the territories without problem same for Charlotte and her father, the fact Charlotte father Go in that restaurant and make breakfast there mean him and her are accepted in that territories same for Tiana and her mother, when Charlotte father said to Tiana’s Mother you are the best of all New Orleans mean they trust her and probably pay her well because she is so trusted same for Tiana for the Bignes.
Sorry I know I wrote a lot but I love those to and how there friendship is so pure and true for a time like 1926 an now isn’t something to forget.

Originally, Charlotte was supposed to be an antagonist of the film as in the original script, Tiana would’ve been a maid working for her and she would’ve been a spoiled brat to her. This was later scrapped.
This is what i read about her on the trivia section on the Disney Wikia.
Despite social economic statuses, Lottie never looked down on Tiana, and treated her like a sister. ❤

Charlotte ditched a PRINCE, the prince she was in love w/to help her friend out. Charlotte also recognizes Tiana’s work ethic & pays her for the beignets instead of just asking them for free b/c they’re best friends.
Tiana & Charlotte’s relationship is SOOO much better than Anna & Elsa’s relationship in Frozen in my opinion. I don’t understand why Tiana & Charlotte don’t receive enough acknowledgment for their amazing friendship.❤

I think that Tiana and Charlotte have a beautiful friendship. I totally agree with your analysis and think it makes perfect sense.
I liked the part about how you describe Charlotte as representing the traditional Disney Princess who is a girly girl who likes dressing up in pretty dresses and is eager to find her Prince Charming while Tiana represents the more modern Disney Princess who is more independent and has other dreams besides finding true love and dressing pretty. I love that they don't look down on the other for having different plans and dreams for their life but completely support the other and their dreams. Honestly, modern women could learn a lot from Tiana and Charlotte. It's important that we *support* each other's differences rather than condemning each other for them.
In current year you'd never get this kind of relationship. In current year any straight wyte rich person would 100% be irredeemably evil.

I can’t remember where I saw this comment, but whoever posted it made a good point. It’s apparent that Lottie doesn’t have a mother in the picture. So what if Mr. Leboeuf brought Eudora into their lives not only so she could make dresses for his daughter, but also so Lottie would have a positive, female role model in her life.

Her father im sure offered but she refused, honestly as the mother is most likley dead 💀 any possible racism goes away as her father really doesn't care about her race nor her mother race as he most likely employed and employs plenty of black people as he seem a fair man who enjoys good food. As he appreciate hard work would have no issue as he wishes to spoil his daughter. Charlotte was raised by a black woman why would she hate them, that a cultural thing. Again her mothervis dead so the woman of the is Charlotte technically.

Lottie doesn't have a lot of money, actually. Her father does. It's possible that her father didn't want to have her give away all that money for Tiana's restaurant. This could be from his own racism, from knowing the system is racist and not thinking a black woman would ever be able to succeed because of it, or because he didn't think Charlotte needed to be giving away _his_ money to who is, to him, his tailor's daughter.
I don’t think Lottie’s father is racist. He kept hiring Tiana’s mother for an unreasonable amount of dresses instead of finding another seamstress, he goes to eat at Duke’s, a small diner where Tiana works that is also owned by a black cook, and it makes sense that Lottie’s upbringing was what made her so tolerant, so I think he never offered the money because of Tiana’s pride, wanting to work for her dream and not have people think she only succeeded because of a rich white family
