    Sickens me to see people belittling the army. Most who do will never fight for this country one damn minute of their life! All branches deserve respect because they all are the ones who keep this land free.

    I'VE BEEN OUT FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND THE MORE THAT TIME PASSES BY THE PROUDER I BECOME OF HAVING EARNED THE TITLE. THERE IS NOTHING IN THIS WORLD THAT COMPARES TO BEING CALLED A MARINE. I WISH I COULD DO EVERY MINUTE ALL OVER AGAIN. FOR ANYONE CONSIDERING THE CORPS, I WOULD LIKE TO SAY...WE ARE THE FEW AND THE PROUD, WE ARE THOSE THAT OTHERS WANT TO BE. SEMPER FI.....

      primaryification why is that your life achievement? I don't understand this becoming a Marine is no harder than becoming a soldier in the army or a coastie in the Coast Guard or an Airman in the Air Force you all have to go through formalize training we all had to go through basic and Advanced Training of some kind. I served my time and retired from the Army was a member of US Army Special Operations and that is a very small community and it is not even remotely closest to what I'm most proud of in my life. being a college graduate being a husband being a father being an uncle who's there for everyone those are the things that you should be proud of or I should say most proud of. it's all too common that it's only Marines who gets stuck in the fact that that's the biggest accomplishment of their whole entire life that's why you see all these people walking around here that are former Marines that served one term and they're dressed head-to-toe in Marine Corps garb and their cars or trucks are plastered in Marine Corps stickers. And they only served one term and most never saw combat and they weren't combat arms they were admin or logistics or something along that line. And when you talk to these individuals it's always the same thing all they weren't talk about is "when I was in the Corps". it's pretty sad when all you have in your life as an accomplishment was I made it through Marine Corps boot camp. Marine Corps boot camp isn't any harder than Army basic training. and before anyone starts jumping up and down and hollering we have The Crucible, the army has Victory Forge which is longer and at the end of it has a longer ruck march and is conducted in a combat environment whereas The Crucible isn't it's conducted as a training exercise. so don't hand me a load of BS about how much harder it is to become a Marine it's not you drink the Kool-Aid and you believed it let's just be real about it.

    • @reds7vn644
      @reds7vn644 5 лет назад

      @Jacub81 No it's not. The Marine Corps mission is exact same as the Army. You guys don't do amphibious assaults anymore because nobody does them anymore. In all actuality the Army pretty much has taken over that role as well. Let's not forget the world's largest amphibious assault (D-Day) in the history of mankind was all Army. Not throwing you under the bus or taking away anything I'm just being honest. An army infantryman is far far more thoroughly trained and capable than a Marine. And here's why in the Marine Corps either you're a machine gunner or rifleman a mortar an engineer Etc... but in the army in the Infantry you can do all of those jobs equally and just as proficiently as any one in the Marine Corps because they have one job. For anybody who reads this that doesn't know I'm talking about when you join the Marines say you become a machine gunner that's all you do you train to be a machine gunner, that's it. But in the Army as an infantryman you're just as proficient as a Marine Corps machine gunner on top of that you can do mortars on top of that are you a basic Rifleman as well the Army cross trains more proficiently thab the Marine Corps does. The problem that most Marines have that I know who are my friends and that came into the Army is they drink the Kool-Aid and that's how the Marine Corps survives. Let's face it, we don't need the Marine Corps for the smallest branch they can just be integrated but instead they thrive on the what used to be and that's what recruits in Marine Corps boot camp or instilled with what used to be. If you look in the mythology of Marine Corps lower you have World War II in the Pacific but if you look at what actually happened there was more Army in the Pacific than there were Marines. Then you have Marine snipers who if you look historically the international sniper competition don't win it's always the Army who wins. but what I do completely agree with you is is what the Marine Corps instills in all of his recruits. Essence of history and Esprit de corps is rock solid. As for the training Victory Forge is by far longer and harder than The Crucible. Other than that Marines trained almost identical to what Army trains initially. it's the Advanced Training for the Army is superior because of the cross training.

    • @reds7vn644
      @reds7vn644 5 лет назад

      @Jacub81 you do realize it doesn't matter if you're combat arms or if you're a dead man everyone in the Marine Corps goes to the exact same bootcamp. said for you to say the combat arms drill instructors are harder to shows you're full of crap.

      The US Marines are among the best in the world. But their basic training is nothing near the basic training of the United Kingdoms Royal Marines. 32 weeks. Very small % of recruits making it until the end. Toughest basic military training in the world.

    It doesn't matter what you do. Just be the best you can be. Marines, Navy, Army, Coast Guard, Air Force. Were all fighting on the same team. You're all a piece of the pie that makes up the United States armed forces. You're all part of a proud heritage that you can be proud of. Even if you didn't serve in one of the branches and still lived each day being the best person you can be, you can still be proud of yourself. There's no shame in being your best with good intentions.

    Semper fi Devil Dog. I served in the Corps 25 years ago. Everyday I thank the Corps for the person that I am today. There is nothing in this world like being a Marine, its the greatest feeling in the world. I've been a Marine in war time, and in peace time served in a combat zone and lead the platoon and company run. For those of thinking about making the commitment know this: your life will never be the same once you earn that Eagle, Globe, and Anchor. Semper Fi to all Marines...

    To a certain extent, yes. However we've had a decade occupation of said region to do so. We toppled the Iraqi regime and executed Sadam, we found and killed Bin Laden. After more than a trillion US Tax dollars has been spent on this project, the only remaining logical step is to fund the defense of the nation and, for the most part, pull out. If we can fund such an extensive foreign campaign, we can easily do the same for defense of the homeland, on our own soil.

    Some of them did (Gary Johnson), and some people didn't considering the fact that they know the voting system is flawed. Once you take into account the people who voted for Romney, the people who voted for an independent, and the ones who didn't vote at all, Obama's 51% goes down. So no, the American people did not choose Obama.

    And perhaps you should do a little reading into history. Honestly now, do you really believe our military has been fight for "freedom"? Now, I think you can make a good argument in which we had to fight the Germans in World War 2 to protect ourselves and the world, but Korea, Vietnam, Panama, Grenada, Gulf War and the current ones? Wake up. It's about power and money, not freedom.

    Well all I can say it this. As a Marine Corps CONTRACTOR, I I think the Marines are UNDER RATED. While in Kuwait a 3rd ID Soldier told me that his Unit routinely painted USMC on the side of their vehicles. Why? In an ambush Army would call in airstrikes and run away. USMC, however would STOP! Fight and pursue the enemy until they killed them! Insurgents soon realized that attacking a USMC convoy was a one way trip and would look for easier Prey...Attack the USMC and they will GET YOU!!!

  • @SinerAthin
    @SinerAthin 11 лет назад

    Indeed.
    And a Spec Op unit that is detected by enemy forces will either bail out or get horribly murdered.
    Spec Ops aren't designated fighting units, they deal with special mission, support and reconnaissance.
    Whereas Marines are like one, big iron fist consisting of thousands of men.
    Marines are, on a global basis, above average soldiers(yet not elite), and the vanguard of the world's greatest military superpower.

  • @SinerAthin
    @SinerAthin 11 лет назад

    Trust me, if you ever went to a battle, you'd rather want to meet the Spec Ops guys than the Marines.
    Marines are trained to tackle the enemy head on and demolish them with superior training, firepower and numbers, and you could be sure their support isn't far behind.
    It's not the individual marine that's what you should fear, but their brotherhood.
    I'd rather hunt spec ops guys than meet the marines on the frontline.

    lol true :) i dont think women should be able to have jobs other then maintenance in the military. None of the women are on the front lines fighting which is good. but what i like about the marines is that when they were in Afghanistan a squad would go on patrol or on a mission and they would just leave a path of bodies behind marines are known for being killing machines.... which i think is cool as far as being a warrior goes look at marine snipers they are pretty bad ass

    As an Explosive Ordinance Technician for the last 8 years, I've served with many of the worlds "elite" forces. The US Marines are by far the most trained and disciplined force in the world. Yes, there are some fat and lazy Marines, but every last US Marine has ten times the discipline than even the most elite IDF soldier. The US Marines have to operate within the constraints of the Geneva treaty were as many of your "elite" forces don't....something to consider perhaps?

    Military creates violence and destruction? PEOPLE create violence and destruction. Free speech is a human right regardless of the military? go tell that to the people that live in North Korea, there are places in the world that you could get arrested or killed for "free speech". If your country was invaded or attacked, are you the one protecting it? Show at least a little respect for the people that risk getting shot at to protect then calling what they chose to do a propaganda.

  • @JungSwon
    @JungSwon 12 лет назад

    they aren't a brutal killing force but any military branch out in the battlefield will talk tough and make jokes for shits and giggles because they NEED that confidence to keep their head in the game and from getting yourself killed. You'll probably think that you'll get shot at and killed either way but like you said, its the adrenaline. that'll keep you on your toes and some of that adrenaline comes from the idea that they are a brutal killing machine.

  • @JungSwon
    @JungSwon 12 лет назад

    there are "better" ways for anything, we have all the rights and choices to do what we please but it is because of these marines, other marines, the military in general that we have that right to speak freely, to do as we please, to call the military a propaganda or whatever. I may not be american born, i may be of asian descent but it would be my honor to serve and protect america&their citizens for the opportunity they have given my family.

    It's stuff like that, that bothers me. A "pawn". Even pawns have their purpose, and why not be the greatest pawn, and destroy all other pawns? The Marine Corps was the greatest thing I have ever been a part of. War is won because of "pawns" and if it wasn't for them you wouldn't have the right to say that. It is propaganda. But it also a family, as cliche and gay as that sounds. It's being a part of something that is so much greater then you have ever experience. Semper Fi.

  • @lazygizmo
    @lazygizmo 12 лет назад

    to make this clear. marines are not this badass force that cant be messed with. they are the first to go to war and the first to get killed. its not all sunshine and glory days. when your faced with a ied, rpg or firearms, you think it matters what you call yourself? last time i checked ieds dont care what your label is. the only thing that matters is the technology, tools and intel to put you in an advantage.
    sorry i mean no direspect, but a head full of pride can be a bad thing.

    I realize there are a lot of marines that joke in honest fun, but there is a scary amount of them who do in fact believe their branch does all the work, is the best, and is all that matters. And I'm going to say that is the majority of them, from my experiences with marines.

    Poor families send poor kids to fight in rich man’s war. Rich family would never send rich spoiled kid to fight in father’s war. Poor kids are good at graduating from places such as Marine depots, not College/University. Believe me; nations would not go to war if they did not have so many people willing to fight for them. Do you honestly believe your government tells you the truth or what you want to hear? If they told you to go to Iraq for purely oil, would you go? Why is gas so expensive?

  • @BareSandwich
    @BareSandwich 12 лет назад

    Israel took their land quite fairly US doesn't want the land, they just want a guarantee that another world trade center attack won't happen again. But I would like you to post a link to somewhere on the internet that says South Korea made the first aggressive move toward North Korea. And Iran has been launching missiles into Israel for many many years. The US doesn't want war, they just want to end it once and for all. If other countries would stay in their borders the US would stay in theirs.

  • @BareSandwich
    @BareSandwich 12 лет назад

    Umm no their not just defending themselves. South Korea was doing routine naval drills and North Korea freaked out and invaded a South Korean controlled island. South Korea was operating well within U.N. standards, there was no threat to North Korea. Iran is looking for an excuse to invade Israel, while North Korea is looking for an excuse to invade South Korea. Their not defending, their well on the offense. These aren't lies, I promise they are facts. Research it yourself.

  • @BareSandwich
    @BareSandwich 12 лет назад

    Um..just to comment about a couple quick facts. Iraq does have great oil but we seized oil fields for Kuwait. You can read about the marines seizing the Crown Jewel oil pumping facility. The only thing we gained is keeping gas prices from going into the double digits. Its still being pumped into Kuwait to be sold back to us. And North Korea did invade a South Korean controlled island as a display of power. North Korea is like a crazy guy with a gun. It needs to be quelled at some point.

    Because, nowadays the CIA doesnt need torture, they have drugs that can make their prisoner simply tell them everything.Its not babaric, and yes, there is a reason to do it, read my previous comment, it can sometimes be the only way to get critical life saving information out of someone. What Al-qaeda did to our soldiers they captured wasnt for any reason, it was merely to broadcast it and make a point, whereas when we have done it in the past its always been for a great reason.

  • @mrmapegothe13th
    @mrmapegothe13th 12 лет назад

    None. The military does not torture, only the CIA, and they only torture if they have an extreme reason to, if either our equipment or men are at risk. You honestly think theyd waste their time and possibly their image on torturing someone who didnt do anything? And the U.S isnt the only one who does such things, just about all countries do. The worst were the KGB in soviet russia.

  • @mrmapegothe13th
    @mrmapegothe13th 12 лет назад

    But thats my point! We dont control middle eastern oil! At all! And we have tried to help the africans in the past, look at somalia and the Black Hawk down situation. Not only that but weve also had soldiers stationed over there to do some good aswell. But quite frankly, Africas a lost cause. Nothing will stop the tribal warfare theyve had for centuries over there. Theres not much that can be done. Thats why we dont do anything dramatic.

  • @mrmapegothe13th
    @mrmapegothe13th 12 лет назад

    The U.S doesnt even own the mass majority of Saudi oil reserves. In fact, weve had to pay more for oil since all this began, which everyone has noticed. And if you want to blame the gas companies for such, guess who works with them, the politicians. No matter how you look at it, Marines and soldiers are still defending us, from the people over there who are a bit mad at our prescence.

  • @mrmapegothe13th

    By putting themselves in a career that will teach them discipline, loyalty, and other attributes that you can only get in the military, let alone the corps. And they are trying to fight and defend our country, all while politicians and people sitting around in their offices do their best to tear this country apart. If you need examples of the differences Marines have made, look at history, that simple.

    From what I understand Marines are the Infantry for the navy hence why they are a department of the navy and since there are female sailors ( I think) then there can be female marines. However i think they still can not knowingly send female marines into combat they can still be posted to combat areas just not Combat missions. This is ALL a wild guess from random info i have seen/read over the years as I'm not even an American let alone a marine.

    I don't get what you're saying. But, just because you're in the Marines doesn't mean you have to choose a combatant MOS (or something you would relate to as Infantry). There's plenty of MOS to choose from (combatant & non combatant). Yes, females in the military aren't allowed to be in a direct combat MOS, but there's plenty of situations involving other MOS where they would have to be combat ready. Every Marine is a rifleman.

    If you are doctor you are medic if truck driver you are driver also in the army. If you are weak and nerd your place is not in frontline. If you have read the history CCCP attacked twice in here and failed twice. In basic training you will be trained as a commando and then you specialize Thats why Finland is on the map. Btw your amy is bigger we have just 387K men so of course your army is stronger. You may not know which one is better if you have not tried both.

    #1 HIPPA laws. #2 It's a lot of shit rules of engagement situations. They were justified in engaging individuals (convoy routes etc, car gets too close, warnings, flare out, warning shots, engagement), turned out it was some grandma trying to teach her 5 year old how to drive. Shit happens fast there, accidents happen. That's what happens during an occupation. I didn't say it was straight up murder. I understand their actions, it shitty it has to happen. I guess I answered myself.

    I watch it for the nostalgia. But when I see people like you trolling these channels to insult people and to make a judgment on those that have the determination and courage to want to join the military is what got you into an argument in the first place. So if you think you are so smart, sign a contract. But you are a coward that will judge others and not try it yourself. I'm proud to be a Marine...bottom line.

Is that brave to you? Good Job America! You won by fighting innocent civilians that have nothing to fight you against, except stones. Why would i tell a marine who's profession is to defend himself? Coward he is because he only does what he is told without questioning orders! Marines don't need to think, they act

    One of the things we are overlooking here is that, because of the US Marines, ignorant naysayers can post their remarks here. The freedoms we enjoy are due in part to the Marines, army, navy. Until these people have been there and done that, they can only speak of what they have heard. Once they do it, the attitudes change. Semper Fi to all my brothers and sisters, past, present and future. OoooohRaaaaah!!!!

    Dude. We don't give a rat's ass about it. The Marines are the best because they're the bravest, most disciplined military branch of the US. That's why they don't call you a soldier or a grunt, Marines are the epitome of discipline in the military world. US Marines to be exact. That's also why they're called "The few, and the proud" Anyone can join the army, navy, or airforce. But not just anyone can get into the Marines.

    we instill more discipline than any other branch and instill physical fitness more than any other branch. and we are the quickest large scale reaction force in our military. all marines are trained as rifle men where as any other branch will not train every job specialty how to shoot a rifle. we also have a higher sense of pride, as some people who commented already found out, than any other branch. most disciplined, most physically fit, most rigorously trained.

    The fact of the matter is we are at war, and very unfortunatly with a country that isnt really a country, its a large fighting force that has no limit. it's not the people of Afghanistan that are the killers its the Taliban. The war today is much differnt then in 1941 on the beaches or normandy. We dont fight because of hatred we fight because we care. just like we fought in korea because we cared. we wanted to stop communism we cared about other souls. you fight for your kids. and you wife.

    First of all, can we afford to keep doing that? Second, how many of these problems are a direct or indirect result of previous meddling in foreign nations? Third, it clearly isn't working and i believe Iraq is a prime example. Their country is in ruins and there new government is sectarian. Just about a month ago, the president of Iraq had the VP locked up on trumped up charges and the infighting between various sects and subcultures within Iraq is becoming worse.

    How do you know that those people don't have an education? You do realize that all military branches require all recruits to have a high school diploma at minimum before being allowed to enter in, right? People also join the service for the same reason that any other indivdiual would join a job for, money, experience, career advancement, etc. Educated people go into many different fields and the military is one of them.

I know before I joined I was running about 70 miles a week(cause I love running) and lifting about 1-2 hrs everyday. If you just join a track team and lift on your own I would say youll be the best prepared vs any sport

    @bustAmoveDEN sorry for the really long post, finally if women did not menstruate or get infections easily it may work. Did you know that you cannot even leave ciggerate butts on the ground in a combat zone? Could you honestly carry around a used tampon for a couple of weeks? Also, if a woman could naturally get to 180 lbs, do over 20 pullups, run sub 18:00 3 mile and do 100 crunches only then would I say she is my equal (in the marines, not even spec ops) o

  • @TheRidersChoice
    @TheRidersChoice 12 лет назад

    @bustAmoveDEN Secondly, it is not a matter of will it is a matter of capability. I could never fully honestly trust a woman to have my back just because I know there is no way should could carry me on her back to safety. Spec Op units are also very small and close knit so everybody banks their life on everybody else on the squad, THERE ARE NO WEAKNESSES. If a woman was put on the squad there is a immediate weakness no matter what you think she is capable of

  • @TheRidersChoice
    @TheRidersChoice 12 лет назад

    @bustAmoveDEN First of all I am into amateur bodybuliding and Im a Marine so I think I can speak on both fields. No woman bodybuilder could ever get to where she is naturally. Steroids are just a part of bodybuilding though and should be accepted in the sport. However steriods cannot be safely used on any level so making women take roids to make up ground would be impossible (plus your clit would grow like 5 inches)

  • @bustAmoveDEN

    @Pegasus538 Only thing that keeps women from serving in "Elite Units" is the policies that the military has in place to prevent them from doing so. To say that a " Woman" can do something just because she doesn't have something hanging in between her legs is idiotic. There are women that can kick some ass in these positions and some that cant. It just depends on the person and whether or not they want it bad enough. SEALs are special forces not conventional infantry! So you do the math! later

    i just want to say, the reason the Marines go first is for shock an awe reasons. if the US sent in the Army first the Army would fill up even more of the casualty reports then they do now which is probably already half, for each of the PROUD Marines that die in combat, they are probably saving 20 or more Soldiers, you have a valid point, but they honestly do save more lives.

    Well, foreign interest for the US Government which includes businesses among other things. While it is the civilian's job to fight against negative business and evil done in the name of justice, the marine's job is to defend the constitution and, besides that main goal, serve the government. I'm gonna be a marine and this fact, though offensive to some, is the truth of the job.

Anyways, there really isnt an average, theres a very large variety of people who go in in terms of weight, height race etc. But id say if your about 6 foot or higher youd be around 190-200, 5'5 up to 6' are probably anywhere from 175-190.
