    This exchange was so helpful to me and what is going on with my thyroid (very low suppressed TSH numbers) and I love that you both mention that is more important on how the person feels and less about the numbers game from the lab. You brought up some great points that I want to go over with my Naturopath, as well as some of your supplements I want to take. I feel like I better understand what is going on with my thyroid and more prepared to have a discussion with my doctor thanks to your videos. So glad I found you on RUclips! Thank you!

    @Dr. Child's. Thank you for your constant efforts in awareness creating🙏🙏 .Love the pregnancy and thyroid cancer argument for low TSH...... understood the logic in case of thyroidectomy patients but in pregnancy a whole spectrum of hormonal changes are happening.... Unlike the non - pregnant females or males.
    Please do few videos for kids and teenagers wrt monitoring thyroid function, especially if either parent is suffering from thyroid malfunction in order to avoid genetic risk. Or rather catch and reverse the damage early if any in vegetarian population more so and categorically for girls who start facing hormonal changes way earlier than boys. School kids have unavoidable stress levesl nowadays and with compromised nutrition, sleep deprivation et al this issue needs more light thrown onto it🙏 Would be extremely gratefulif you could touch this topic too🙏

    I am having terrible air hunger. I will start by saying that I have chronic lyme, hypothyroid, SAI, low hormones, MTHFR, viruses.
    Recently my thyroid labs have been all out of whack and they were stable for several years. My FT4, RT3 and FT3 are all way high. My TSH is low. Before these last labs only T3s were high but now all 3 are high, FT4, RT3 amd FT3. 2 months ago my doctor removed my T3 meds totally in an attempt to lower my high T3s. It has only made them higher. I am not feeling well at all and this air hunger is horrible. I just learned that I have the hetero C677T gene. Out of nowhere I have very high B12. I do not supplement.
    I have 3 high amino acids
    My selenium and iodine are high now. They have been stable for years. I supplement but have not changed those doses at all. So I am thinking the MTHFR is effecting things.
    My major question is, did my doctor do right by eliminating my T3 medication in attempt to lower my high T3s? I was told elsewhere that the T4 is what needs to be reduced and the T3 needs to be increased. I am at a loss and I am suffering. I am trying to find a new doctor who knows what they are doing but I cannot afford out of pocket, I am looking for someonewho takes insurance. . Can you please just answer that question so I know if this doctor was totally off by removing my T3 dose and what should he have done to correct my high thyroid labs? Thank you!!

    After 18 months and 86lbs lost on Keto, I didn't have a "stall" - I suddenly had a Reversal! I started gaining 1lb and 2lbs per week eating the SAME keto food!
    I regained 2 STONE and my heart broke.
    It devastated me. I mentally entered a depression - after ALL that hard work, I fully bought into the benefits of keto, and suddenly for no reason, the weight started creeping back on! No matter what I did (reduce fat, increase fat, reduce protein, reduce carbs, IF, autophagy etc etc) I was steadily regaining EVERY POUND I lost! AND I was GAINING inches and PHYSICALLY getting fatter!!
    This went on for over 4 months, and after battling the depression and disbelief and frantic search for help and answers - the world suddenly went into lock down.
    I distinctly remember wiping my tears of despair and rage that not one of these so called keto doctors, scientists and gurus were able to help me - not ONE was available to help normal people online, who trusted and believed them - and decided "fcuk it! I may as well just eat normally - I'm getting fatter from keto, I might as well eat carbs!!"
    I'm now my heaviest at 21st 10lbs and trying day 5 Carnivore.
    It's taken 2 years to battle the psychological post traumatic stress of that keto reversal - but I'm now trying to not give up on myself. I'm scared and it's hard, but I won't give up my life to food.
    I have no idea what to try now to get rid of the excess weight. Here in the UK they only treat TSH and mine is apparently 'normal' so I literally have no where to turn.

      I’m so sorry that all of this is happening to you. I think you should look into getting your reverse t3, total and free t3, and total and free t4 checked, plus all 3 types of thyroid antibodies checked at a functional or integrative medicine doctor, not a mainstream endocrinologist.
      Plus I think looking into histamine intolerance and mast cell de-activators could help you a lot, because histamine and the other secretions of mast cells cause extreme inflammation which elevates the reverse t3 hormone which completely blocks the function of t3.
      Where there is a Will there is a way. You can do this, your system is just dealing with a lot of inflammation and cortisol right now likely caused by the unnatural and dangerous fad of keto, which should only be done in temporary intervals, not as prolonged as you did.
      Once again, I’m so sorry. I deeply empathize and relate with you. You are not alone. We can all figure this out once and for all.

      I hope everything worked out for you. I switched to carnivore and noticed a reduction in all of my symptoms except my thyroid issues. I later found that it was because I already had nodules devolved on my thyroid that need to be treated. I'm still in the middle of that.

    I get so frustrated that I have Hashimotos, letting go of the weight is difficult. I’ve no clue what I am allergic to which is causing inflammation. I get 8 hours of sleep, I eat what I can which is limited to meat, veggies, and on rare occasions bread. My labs are normal and I still am feeling less than optimal. I can make it half way through the day before feeling tired and run down. Currently me and my doctor are trying to lower my inflammation response due to allergies. Is there anything I can do to help let go of the weight while getting to a normal immune response and work on my thyroid numbers?

Under the assumption that the thyroid gland from bovine would act as a decoy to send the antibodies to instead of my own thyroid. Are these adrenal gland dealers working in a similar way or do they actually build up the adrenal gland again after high cortisol damage you might say.

    I am hypothyroid. Weight was not an issue. I never gained weight when my autoimmune hypothyroidism began. My TSH jumpy in 6 May from 0.84 to 24.5 in 6 months. And when I was put on thyroid hormone meds my TSH went down to normal. I never lost any weight ever from taking the Levothyroxin or Armour medication.
    Weight was never a symptom. But I was ve tired : exhausted, always cold , dry skin and hair and hair falling out , constipation , low heart rate. But the weight was never a symptom.
    Are there others like me.
    P. S. I had VSL gastric sleeve Laparoscopy and lost 90+ pounds. I have kept this weight down for 9 years except for the 6 month period that I broke my ankle and went through a bad break up with verbally and emotionally abusive relationship. I was feeling sorry for myself and compensated with food grazing. But I got back up on the horse and lost that 35 pounds that I had gained.

      Hi Kim, I had the same thing happen to me. Up until my mid forties, I never had any weight or energy issues. Then little by little my weight started inching up & my energy levels as well as my lack of restful sleep kept getting worse. Like you I went from around 125 to 210 over a 20 year period!
      My doctor finally diagnosed me with hypothyroidism when I was 44 and although the medication he gave me helped a little, my weight, sleep & lack of energy never got back to normal. When I retired 11 years ago, I started researching thyroid issues and 5 years ago found a functional doctor who did a total blood panel & started me on a paleo protocol along with supplements. That really helped with losing weight & feeling energetic again. Since then I’ve moved over to clean keto and that has helped with losing a little more weight (I’m down to 185) and sleeping better and have good energy & mood most of the time. I’ll be 76 this November and look & feel really good and my blood pressure has gone down & I’m hoping to get off my BP medication in the near future. Cutting out carbs and increasing my protein & veggies has really been very helpful for me and do hope you find a method that works best for you. Good luck!

      @@user-sp4vq6et7w I am on synthroid levothyroxine (sp?). There seems to be two manufacturers of synthroid to keep us confused. It is not optimal. I’m am requesting more labs in the near future that would see how I react to t4 and T3. My situation is so different with still having my thyroid. I am getting my third shot of Moderna tomorrow the15th of September, qualifying for it because of having an auto immune disease. My dear friend (born in USA) followed husband to an island off of Spain. She was diagnosed with graves in January 2020. Up through fall of 2020 her thyroid became so enlarged that she had her thyroid removed in fall 2020. Spain has not shown any sympathetic docs and ENDOCRONOLOGISTs and eye docs. The only Med is synthroid to manage her body. She also developed eye thyroiditis, after the operation giving her double vision, and fatigue. Docs have no answer why this occurred. She is remaining isolated in home and opting not to be vaccinated. She is a retired nurse, 64. Doctors haven’t advised her one way or another about getting vaccinated. I think this is a valuable question for the presenters to create a discussion regarding those that have had their thyroid removed. Hopefully, others respond to this question. My friend and I find the female body so complex and highly fascinating that it is beyond our comprehension why there is so little research historically done to solve so many puzzling questions. Of course the two of us fully agree that medicine has been male dominated historically. Women were put in asylums by their husbands in the 20s and 30s and earlier when they were post menopausal. We have a long way to go. You being in your forties, gives me hope for you that we will hopefully evolve. I’m apologize that I don’t have a solid answer for you. As far as my reactions to the first two shots, we’re minimal. No fever, cramps and diarrhea the second day. The big notice is I slept a lot the first week on both. I welcomed the sleep because I don’t get more than 6 hours a night regardless of when I go to bed. Again more differences you are premenopausal. I am grateful that you survived your cancer and I’m sorry you had to go through that. You are a warrior!

    Dr. Childs i want to inform you about something, you might want to make a video about.
    There's this thing called "Third Generation TSH machine". I've been taking T3 only for 2 years now I always got suppressed TSH -.005 in my old blood tests. But when I tried a different Laboratory, it actually showed values like 0.16. It seems that old machines can't detect low ranges of TSH and just show suppressed results. The new Lab told me that they have a Third Generation TSH machine.
    I just want to get it out there because there might be old machines in most parts of the world and people are being misdiagnosed because of this.

    • @drwestinchilds
      @drwestinchilds  2 года назад +2

      Great observation! The third generation is what I am used to looking at but I will add a video about it to the list of future topics.

    • @deancamba2820
      @deancamba2820 2 года назад

      I just want to share more info.
      No matter how high dose of T3 I take, the third gen machine always show a precise value. I never experience it showing suppressed values like -.005 or -.001.
      This is a big thing "Psychologically". Patients are afraid to try to add even a little more dose because -.005 or -.001 are extremely low numbers. It's terrifying to add. Just because of a stupid machine.
      Also I wonder how many TSH machines in the world are bad ones. Maybe there are more bad ones, judging from online forums, the number of people complaining that their TSH is suppressed but they feel hypo are uncountable, there's just too many. Perhaps millions of thyroid patients are suffering because of this.
      Also Thank you so much for these collaboration videos Dr.Childs. I use to just research on my own and watch all your vids, but now I can reach out and consult to these experts. Thank you for connecting us to them.
      At the end of the day, you will be the GOAT Thyroid and Weight Loss Doctor! because your videos and blogs saved so many lives and smiles! This will be your Legacy!

Not only this but it seems that there is problem with levothyroxine production depending on the company who produces it. I have been struggling with my meds for the last 4(?) years feeling sluggish, heart palpitations, hot flashes even ended up seeing a psychologist 4 times because of the new range results. My last result t3 was 2.3 which is low and my t4 was 1.21 which is high. Though the tsh is in normal range of 3.26. tsh which was .51-6.27 now .45 -5.33. What confuses me is I can not be both low and high in t3 and t4. Been noticing friends now taking low dosage of levothyroxine these days due to the change of new range. Hi Abena, you could have nodules on your thyroid, you need to go to your doctor and ask for an ultrasound to see if you do have nodules, and then if they find a lump there they can do a biopsy to let you know if all is ok, so an ultrasound and then a biopsy then go from there.....there is a load of info here on RUclips, books etc, have a good look around to ease any anxiety you have but head back to a good doctor when you can, and look after yourself the best you can.

    • @annetaylor7496
      @annetaylor7496 2 года назад

      Oh my apologies I see you had an ultrasound but you need a biopsy to make sure the lump is a nodule and then you need to keep an eye on it and get follow up ultrasounds every 6 months or sooner to make sure it isn't getting bigger and if it does and it's not common you need another biopsy etc, I hope that makes sense, if you're concerned but try and not worry and steer clear of stress because the thyroid doesn't deal with stress well, you must, must look after yourself.
