Hi! I recently bought this item from eBay (March-2023). And I can confirm that you can choose to record in 4:3 format from your old videos using the AV input. No problem with stretching to 16:9. I can highly recommend this product. I am very happy with the product and the quality I get on old videos. Worked perfectly for me to record my old videos to a memory card and store all my old videos on a ssd hard drive. Maybe it is a new software installed compared to the unit you have in this video.

Lon, the analog video stretch will be correct for 16:9 or anamorphic sources. For 4:3 sources, simply set the monitor TV picture size from 16:9 to 4:3. This is not as big a deal as you make it out to be. I have a Chinese all region DVD player where I have to do the same thing!

Got one a couple of days ago and I think the software must have been updated. You CAN adjust the bitrate there are several options up to 25mps. The unit DOES start a new file when the filesize limit is reached. I used a 2Tb sandisk NTFS in the usb slot and new files were started at the 25Gb mark. If you allow the unit to format the micro sd you will get fat32 and a 2Gb file size BUT it seems happy with a ntfs formatted microsd card. Very pleased good quality video and Premiere Pro is happy with the h265 hevc files.

Definitely looking for a gaming option I know you have done videos in the past on such solutions!

I've noticed that these devices have some issues when recording video game output, most notably there is some distortion in the lower right-hand side of the display that resembles scanline and ghosting.

Big thanks for the Analog / Composite video capture samples. The 16:9 stretching is not ideal.

3:39 dealbreaker though I appreciate reviewing these recorders. I've been looking for one for quite some time and most are toy like. Would be nice if you could review some more good ones.

Deal breaker for me too. Our typical file size is 300 gb and higher. No way this would work for me.

Hello, I'd like to get unlimited record time out of a canon m50 & t5i for a podcast in 1080p 30fps. I didn't know before trying that there was a 30 minute limit but was looking into workarounds. Atomos products seem dominant in this field but I honestly think they're offering more than I truly need. I'm in doors, I don't need a larger monitor, am satisfied with my current camera quality & won't be doing anything other than pressing record😅 plus my main audio is coming from professinal studio equipment via pro tools, I'd just like my podcast cameras to record non stop for up to 2hrs (128gb sandisk image mate pro sd cards). Do you think this is an adequate tool for my modest goals?

A usb capture device would be more cheaper to use even though you need an PC.
