    I've been crocheting yarn bowls for a few years now...they're perfect for using up scrap yarn and can be made to hold a full cake or smaller for little odd balls..they can also be used to hold small projects and/or accessories...you can stick your hook through the yarn, stitch markers along the edge and sewing needles as well...

  • @fiberfarmstead

    .. I'm going to do mine in 4 colors with a large hook. With four eyelets. North, white, cedar. East, yellow, sweetgrass. South, red, tobacco. West, black, sage. I think I'll make 4 pods.... Also, going to add a sweat lodge round rock in each, for a weight, for my December tribal/community youth workshop. That'll be a "talking circle". I'm so excited! ❤️

    This is the best crocheted yarn bowl, ever (it's collapsible and the reinforced holes are brilliant)! Thank you for sharing your pattern! Creating a single group of three strands is easy as I've done it many times when preparing to crochet or knit baskets and totes --I don't care for the tension of winders and prefer to handwind yarn balls. Besides, I plan to also try this pattern with a single strand of bulky coarse wool I've had for a while to see how that works out. This yarn bowl is also a thoughtful gift to make and give to a fellow fiber artist. So many possibilities!

    Useful for leftover yarn! This is something I’ll definitely use: I’ve always got more than one project going at a time and use ugly plastic bags to hold them. The yarn balls roll out and get tangled - but These are really pretty! Thank you :^)

    Anya, this looks perfect! May I ask if you could use chunky yarn instead of 3 strands of the worsted?

    I made a 2nd loop on the bottom edge so I can "close" the bowl using the top loop and carabiner.

    Hi Anja ..Could this be made with a thicker weight yarn to negate the need to have multiple strands..? ( I don’t have a yarn winder ) and if so would Aran weight be sufficient.. ?
    Thank you..😊

    • @OpheliaTalks
      @OpheliaTalks  Год назад +2

      Yes you can try Aran weight, but to make it sturdier I would suggest a smaller than recommended hook size! Good luck, Anja x
