Wow, that really helped me out. I was struggling to get the right sound on the female vocal. I followed your Tukan chain here...had to play with the SumChannel a bit... and it solved the harshness and generally sounds much better now in the mix. I had used some of John's plug-ins, but hadn't got the best out of them. Many thanks indeed for this!
Nice! Glad to hear it worked out for you. I haven't played with the "Sum" part of the Sum plugins (meaning putting them on the mix bus as well as each channel and such), but the plugins are so good, I need to get working on that.
Lexikan for stereo widening is actually kinda amazing.
The new "tool" plugin also supa useful.
Overall super plugins
I tend to find a reverb sound I like and stick with it without straying. I want to take a much closer look at Lexikan because it looks great. The tool plugin looks good too. Thanks for the comment!
New subscriber here. So far my favorite Tukan is the JS: Exciter + Sub. I've been turning off the sub and using the Exciter to add sparkle to dull vocals. Also really like the EQT-1A. Gotta try that channel strip.
Yeah the Exciter is a good one. I played a bit with the EQT-1A in the first video I did and it had some issues. He fixed it for the 2nd video and it works very well now. Also thanks for the sub!
Which plugin from Tukan Studios is your favorite? Have you tried SUM CHANNEL yet? Thoughts?
Even the SSL emulation plugin does not sound exactly like any versions of its hardware. When you buy SSL, you are buying a brand, not an exact emulation of their hardware. You could argue: but its as close as your go8ng to get to yhe real thing. And I would argue, so is any other developers interpretation and implementation of the hardware.
What about to hear vocal?
Hi, I'm not sure I understand?
LOL Reaper is definitely cheap, but not easy. 😂
