Where you need to pull the whole engine every time you would work on a 2.7 Biturbo Audi.
October 21st will be four years that I have my VR4. I bought it thinking it would be easy, without maintenance, just oil changes, but when I went digging deeper, I started to notice the various errors of the former owners, a lot of electrical problems, problems with the vacuum system, misaligned interior, fueling problems, missing screws, among many other things, added today I have 40 GB of photos and videos of practically everything I did in the garage at home, just with family and friends, it was a unique experience, I was only 20 when I started, I didn't know about anything about automotive mechanics I just liked the car and always heard my grandfather talking about when he saw the car at the dealership, and today, four years later, I owe everything I know to the community and the car itself for teaching me. Today the car is going well, using almost every day, it is still not at its best, there is still a fine-tuning to be done and a few more things here and there. As you said yourself, I would do it again without thinking twice, even though it was two years stopped in the garage, I would do it again.

Would you recommend getting a 3000gt SL as a daily and how much do you think I should pay, has relatively low miles for the age (134k), and I've worked on a few cars before.
So mine is an SL and i think it would work perfect for a lot of ppl as a daily, the only problem with mine is that I’m a bit of a bigger guy and these aren’t the most spacious, but like I mentioned in the video, the parts weren’t crazy expensive and it wasn’t really too bad to work on! Hard to say on the price, a super clean one with many miles could get on up there, although if it were me I wouldn’t really pay more than 5 or 6k for one that isn’t a vr4. Thanks for the question!
@@stevemisfit1 so 9 seems pricey but if it is as clean as your saying with the miles that low I say go for it. The only downside is that your are almost into vr-4 money. But sounds like if you are looking for something to drive daily and be dependable I don’t think you could go wrong with that one.
This was my first real project and I can honestly say it was a blast to work on, I just made sure to do the most research I could and it didn’t seem too bad to work on, even breaking down the transmission

Thanks man! Always been a dream car if mine also!
MattBones311 I see a couple around where I live for sale but have 2 kids 😂 idk if they would fit
Bwade Tv hey man kids grow up! Then they can get their own car to race you lol
I'm on my 3rd one at 23
wow! hopefully my number 2 will be a vr4 or a stealth r/t! thanks for the comment!
To late bought a 91sl
What Happens IDK nice! Love the flip up lights!
Hey i have my own gt project but have no guidence is there anything i can do to find a way to get it put together
There is so much good stuff here on RUclips, and the 3si forum. I haven’t had good luck with ppl replying to posts on there, but you can spend some time looking through the posts that already exist, that may help! Oh and the facebooks groups for 3000gt, there are a lot of ppl on there
These cars ARE complex... Do yourself a favor, and buy the factory shop manuals. Im an experienced mechanic, but they were the first thing i bought the day I got my first Stealth!!!
@@MattBones311 i have a ground up build. Im at a loss. Father took it apart before he kicked the bucket and im youngish with no mech exp for that much but as a family heirloom idk what to do with it
@@wheels-n-tires1846 shit my manuel is 5in thick
Nice Matt hope you enjoy Mississippi buddy!
thanks man!
3 minutes of black screen?
yeahhhh sorry about that, it was kind of a silly mistake that i left in, wish i would have known this video was going to get so man views haha pls go check out some of my other work if you like 3000gts
how would a LS Swap work out?
I have seen one or 2 online. It’s a pretty serious job since you have to completely turn the engine. Really the only thing going for that type of swap is it does have room for a driveshaft.
@@MattBones311 jeez sounds rough/expensive 😅
there is a guy in the 3S community that LS swapped his, and does drift events with it.
Hahaha no. Im getting a 3rd one
I have been debating a second one for awhile! thanks for the comment!
What do you think about the 1993 gen car
Love em man, when I am finally ready for a vr-4 I think it would be really cool to get a first gen
Not all are bad......sell it😂😂😂
Nice video.. If I had money I'd like to buy one... But... Know.. (thanks to you).. ZERO
Can someone recommend me a good project car?
really the 3000gt isnt a bad option, when this one was for sale someone said it isnt worth restoring, and i was able to make this one cool in my opinion for pretty cheap. Just do your research and have fun with it. Please check out the full playlist on this build!
@@MattBones311 yes there’s multiple in my area and honestly it’s beautiful. I think I will end up getting one as well as doing my research. Thank you! Much appreciated
Just bought one lol
Hold on to it! I am seeing them for sale less and less! thanks for the comment!
Do not be fat! :)
What
Right! Thanks for the comment! Like and subscribe! more vids on the way!
It’s too late I already did it
Awesome! Help me keep these cars alive! Thanks so much for the comment!
Is it hard to make a vr4 from stock 3000gt which is without AWD and twin turbo system?
from my experience, it would not be worth it unless you had a next level clean low mileage non VR4. The money you would put into would be crazy. I think it would make the most since to just purchase a vr4 in any condition and start with that
@@MattBones311 Okey thank you.
@@pepper-pultpult1604 yeah man! real talk though! check it out for yourself! you may can find a crazy deal and if your willing to put in the work you can figure something out!
Bought one
Love my 3k
Me to man! It was been such a fun project! thanks for the comment
