Jorge, I purchased three of the ikea cabinets after watching your console decor video and WOW- I have a long enough console for my large foyer for fraction of the price and it looks beautiful!! Gracias amigo!
I have young kids, so open shelving in the kitchen won’t work for me right now (sippy cups aren’t cute), but I’m hoping you’re right that they remain timeless so I can have them eventually! And I’m so with you on antique/vintage items, I have a gorgeous antique table I was handed down and love incorporating it with more modern decor!
"Put some big ass branches, put a whole tree for Christ's sake"!. Lol I luv luv luv your commentary it makes me laugh every time. Your content is fab but the additional commentary just seals it for me. Lots of tips for me to keep in mind when decorating my living space.
I agree that many of these trends should definitely stay. I’m surprised that when talking about big box, mass produced items no one really mentions the level of carcinogens in them. I’m sure this varies from place to place but I see those labels all the time. On the flip side when talking about antiques (which I love), we have to be cautious of items that might possibly contain lead. ❤️
I love all these "trends"! I've been collecting mid-century pieces for the past 8 years and I LOVE every piece I've thrifted. I just got an enormous Danish 60s coffee table for £20 off FB marketplace! They got for around £800 online! I am obsessed with the limewash look, its so much cosier than flat coloured walls. I',m really into black trim on windows, I think it really elevates a space and makes it look chique and classy. And I am about to install open shelving in my new kitchen once I'm done painting the old 70s tiles white.
I had open shelving kitchen and it worked great for me. When I renovated my kitchen I decided to go with open shelves to save some money instead of having cabinets. Shelves made the space more roomy and bright. Also I put all of my every day dishes, plates and mugs on my shelves which all were white so it never looked cluttered.
I really appreciate the fresh inspo photos in your videos. I can't tell you how many times I pause just to take in the gorgeous rooms you reference. I hope your channel really takes off. I love the balance in your styling and the clean, un-fussy DIY's.
Love an open kitchen, but I would never ever get an open kitchen for myself. They might be great from a styling point of view, however, open shelving, etc. get filthy so quickly. I had just two open shelves in my last kitchen and styled them with my tea boxes and teapots. It was beautiful to look at. However, even using these items on a daily basis and cleaning them after each use they collected dust and felt sticky within one day. In my new kitchen, there is not even one open shelving. Everything is behind closed cupboard doors. But I still found a way to display the nice things in my kitchen by using cupboard doors made of glass in one place. So this way I can still display nicely without cleaning constantly. And cleaning (two) glass doors is easier and faster than cleaning each individual item on the shelves.
@@casa_refined Yes, a vent prevents, but does not eliminate grease. ... Would love to see your approach/thoughts on the TikTok DIYs. ;-) ... Keep up the good work!
Agree. I didn't intentionally have open shelving. I was refinishing our cabinets and they were open for quite some time. I was constantly cleaning. I kept changing the air filters etc. I won't have open shelving. I do have 3 glass cupboard doors in my kitchen. Much more practical
Once again, great video. Looking forward for part 2. I love collecting items from different cultures. I went to a thrift store several years ago in my neighborhood. I heard the employees talking about, "that foreign junk in the backroom." I asked if I could see it. They allowed me. There was a treasure trove of Iranian/Islamic bronze candlesticks, candleabras, small framed hand painted art,..to name a few. I bought 5 or 6 pieces which they practically gave away They were happy to get rid of it..😔 😔😔 (I didn't realize how close minded the community was when I moved there.) Hope you enjoyed the 4th.❤️🤍💙 Stay blessed.
Bahahhaha!! Tik tok foam mirrors!! STOP!! 🤣🤣🤣 I definitely love "big ass branches"! 😍 .. and I don't think I've seen the non-white trim, but I really it! It is so simple, but looks so crisp.
All good information. However, I have lived through the home decor brass craze twice and saw that it left as quickly as it came. I do like the organic color schemes for the positive effects/vibes on general mood of the occupant(s). Also love the different color moldings/trim to place more identity in the space. Now, I’m headed outside to cut some big ass branches for an arrangement! Love your channel Jorge!
Open shelf kitchen? Yes, yes, and YES! We moved into a gutted, newly-renovated, apartment two years, ago. Everything was brand new, but the space in the kitchen was minimal. I bought two, inexpensive, black, IKEA bookshelves (yes, bookshelves) and mounted them on opposite ends of the counter and decorated with white ceramic dishes; glass/wood containers; plants; picture frames; wooden candlesticks; etc. Everyone who comes over, always comments on that design, as they draw the eyes all the way up to the ceiling, giving the viewer the opportunity to pay attention to everything on every, shelf. 😊
I do have a few archways in my home. One subtly separates the living and dining areas, another seperated the dining area and kitchen, and the other is the entryway to the hall from the livingroom. I almost forgot the small telephone niche in the dining area. I do like them, they add visual interest especially when everything else is very simple and straight. The kitchen is rather small but messes can be out of sight while the archway shows off my nice stove.
Great vlog. I have open shelving in kitchen 2 shelves on 2 of my walls & 1 shelf each on the other 2 walls. I keep things neat & organized by having a section for dishes & glasses, a section for baking and a beverage/breakfast area. I clean everything regularly so dust & dirt hasn’t been a problem. I love it!! I also love arches.
I love your take on this...sooo many stop these trend vids, really nice to see a positive approach and consider the items and ideas that work well and have more longevity. I adore branches and would add natural fibre rugs to the list too - jute, sisal, seagrass etc. I made the switch from patterned rugs to natural plain designs a while back and adore seeing the natural fibres and textures. Another lovely video, you're always so interesting to watch and I love that you are a pen and paper dude for your list-making! Same here :-)
I love arches and have four in my hallways, two hallways, I find they soften entrances and are a nice contrast to my sharp rectandular ones. As for open shelving... I have some, they are part of the kitchen, I did not put them in. They are a beautiful desing element, I am able to display parts of my collections beautifully, however, the upkeep is too much. They require constant cleaning, and that means the items on display also. I love branches and use them but not from a florist. I prefer them without leaves, they are more interesting to me bare, I have plants that provide foliage. Brass elements, love them too, I love when they get their patina at which point I seal them with a thin layer of wax.
I have just spent the first 5 mins of the video, looking around me to see what the tapping noise was 🤦♀️. I'm obsessed with you channel, love your style, think I'm going to redecorate and restyle now so feel free to come to the UK and help with ideas 😆
Great video, love the shelves look but I have cabinets throughout, 2 w glass door for display. Also, i always wanted to limewash the brick of the house but never did it
I find all trends interesting. And having an eclectic aesthetic in my home, I can find something exciting in all trends. Thanks for showing such stunning decor to complement your comments.
I have open shelving. Yes, they get dirty, even with my crazy industrial vent. I am a visual organizer though, so I want to see the things that I used all the time. Worth it for me.
*Lime Wash and Venetian Plaster* , I love this look for a Modern Organic style home. I feel that the venetian plaster would be divine for a small dramatic powder room. I like the non-white trim and baseboard, am currently considering this for my home. I love an arch detail, I gravitate towards arches in my furniture pieces. Arches lend a feminine softness as well as visual interest, would definitely do this on a new build home.
Venetian plaster is gorgeous but very laborious to do (many layers) and hence very expensive, unless you do it yourself, and I would never have the patience!
I fell back in love with brass about 4 yrs ago I was racking up because no one wanted it lol I think I was drawn to it because of the silver and mirrored furniture trend it kind of made me hate silver I’m trying to sway my husband on buying the pretty white and brass kitchen appliances because stainless steel is everywhere. Thank you for the branch ideas
I could watch your videos all day long , your creations are my style and love them..branches yes, I'm all for that , I'm a firm believer less is more. One can always paint their branches..❤
LOVE LOVE LOVE my open shelving!!! Contrary to what people say, my dishware does not get dusty because I use them! It's great having things so handy, especially spices and coffee cups. And BTW my wine glasses are in a closed cupboard and they get so dusty- how does that happen??? And the bottom line is that open shelves can be staged so pretty!
I think open shelving has to be really thought out in combination with closed cabinets. Not only is it hard to maintain open shelving (cleaning, keeping it manicured etc) but you can lose a lot of storage if you are substituting it for upper cabinets and it can be an eyesore if there is a lot happening especially in a small kitchen. I only have open shelving because I wanted additional storage for a pantry that I could take with me as a renter and a metal bookshelf was the most affordable item at the time. I love it for now but it does need to be maintained constantly.
Love Venetian plaster & textured walls, sturdy solid wood furniture, archways and big ass branches. Love a couple of open shelves for the kitchen. Have none of the above, except the B A branches. Let's face it, it's expensive and a bit stressful trying to keep up with trends, so do what pleases you!

I really enjoyed this video. So informative & inspirational. Love the limestone wall effect as solid color drywall CAN be a bit boring. I like that you often consider environmental aspects.

IT depends ON the kitchen size, and how good your vent it 😊 I like a more modern kitchen and bathroom, and i prefer matte Black instead off brass. I vote no on the open cabinets. Reason, they get filthy quickly!!
Yes, many people agree. Maybe a cabinet or two with glass fronts could be a good solution for 'the pretty items"
I have them and love them. But I am a visual organizer, i work best when I see the things I use all the time. So they work best for me in my everyday.
