Basically its the same as ipad is disabled or iphone is disabled, from here you need to wipe the device :(

Instruction is very clear, concise and straightforward. I tried this but had encountered problem. It stopped at 18% regardless of using different laptop, pc, cord and ports. I believe this really worked but not for everyone.
If this process doesn't work, you can try restoring your ipad using itunes. It worked for me. Just open the itunes, connect ipad using cord. Power off your device then long press the home button for recovery mode. There will be a pop up window, just click restore and wait for it to be downloaded for 15 mins. It will automatically restore your ipad.

I hardly ever comment on videos but I have to on this one.
I changed my iPad password to prevent my kids getting into it, but I did it while groggy and then my iPad died and I didn’t restart it until 1 week later. By then I was reminded I changed my password but could not remember it.
I tried my old and more until it locked me out permanently. I came to terms with the fact that I’d lose all my data (I don’t back up to iCloud for my journal).
I found this video and followed what was said. In the end I logged onto my iPad with my old password (the same as my phone) and to my pleasant surprise, I did not lose a single piece of data!!

Thanks Rick for the explanation. I have a 9th Gen Ipad new. Kido entered in passcode incorrectly somewhere down the line while we were initially setting it up. After some looking into what the hec to do I downloaded 3Utools and all 3 attempts failed at 19%. Personally while I am not a fan of apple products period, my husband says security is good - well you dont say! Error received at each failed attempt: ERROR: Device failed to enter restore mode. Please make sure that idevice is connected with the usb cable and Apple Device Driver is installed correctly (btw - brand new device!). So I changed cables, USB ports and it failed 2 attempts via 3Utools. Changed back to OEM cable and original USB port and restored via itunes successfully stupidly enough. Going through the comments here - i think it's hit and miss either way. I restored on a Windows 10 Laptop. What I did not expect at the end of restoring via itunes was for 3Utools to open and verify/check off restore as successful. It's a convoluted process as a whole IMHO.

However, your comment inspired me to keep trying on the MacOs Catalina Mac and Finder function from Apple itself. And Voila! I could successfully restore my iPad now after 2 hours of frustration! Plug in what you need, be sensible about it & keep it movin' The construction is plastic but it's a sturdy piece. It has a single toggle switch & the swivel jacks are useful as well. Plugged in next to Tripp Lite Isobar takes some of these reviews with a pinch of sumthin' - does what it says & functions properly.Had for about a month. Perfect no complaints will update if anything changes.

I have verified with apple support chat that once you see the "Ipad Unavailable" screen with no timer the apple store cannot recover the data only reset/restore backups , this blows my mind and I am still skeptical that this can be true! To add a "feature" that makes your files unrecoverable after 4-5 wrong passcode inputs seems crazy to me. BTW thanks for the vid/comment it helped me find the answers i was looking for. Looks like my family members data is gone with the wind. (no backups).

You're absolutely right. This feature makes me never want to own an Apple product again. Kids try to get into ipads all the time, they play around with it and press the wrong thing and you end up being locked out of your ipad and have to delete everything because it isn't backed up because you didn't pay for storage. Ridiculous.
I've never been so disappointed in my life! All my digital art and animations are just gone!

I couldn't get my iPad into recovery mode somehow (iPad Air 4 WIFI), but I tried plugging it in with a cable just as the power off sign disappeared while trying "volume up release, volume down release, press hold lock button".
Magically IT WORKED.
Then I CHANGED cables immediately when it went into recovery mode because somehow, that first cable couldn't detect the iPad on my macbook. THEN IT WORKED. (Figured my 2nd cable was possibly some sort of a data cable)
I did the flash. But Scared the life out of me when it only went to 20% and then my iPad restarted, and the 3uTools couldn't detect my iPad again. BUT I re-watched your video & then I tried the exact same process but with ANOTHER USB PORT as you said to try, AND IT WORKED. MADE EVERYTHING INTO 100% & Now my iPad is working well!!!!
I can't thank you enough, I thought I lost my iPad forever because the guys at Apple could only help me so much & it's been a year or so, I almost lost hope.

My son locked his ipad this weekend. And of course I'm looking google how to unlock it. Tried so many different ways to know it did not work so frustrating, then I came across this guy. Mate, your a legend. Saved me going into apple store and paying someone to fix it. This was the easiest way to get it all started again.

This whole security feature needs to be chucked in the garbage in iOS 17. I don't know if it is new to iOS, but I know it is stupid. The whole point of me wanting to get back in my iPad is to recover what I do not want to erase with a factory reset. I don't understand how my ipad can still be connected to bluetooth and I can see my lock screen pic but I can't access my ipad. Why can't I just login the Apple ID page via my macbook and unlock the damn thing from there? SMH.

Once it's download you should need to click on flash under the firmware Tab

Rick, for some reason on 3u tools when i try to download the ipads system it says "on the queue". I am not even currenty downloading anything. Why is this happening?? I waited for more than 10 minutes but it still said "On the queue".
Restart the machine and try again

It works with laptop macbook too !! When the process done it will show you that ipad is still unavailable then you have to turn it off and re-start. You will see Hello icon showed up on the screen. Thank you for your video so helpful
My iPad will not go to recovery mode, what can I do ?
Dont trust youtube comments that say they can fix it!! It is a scam!! They will demand payment first, then put you through this fake process like they are working on it, then they will ask you for more money to complete the process. They promise it is the final step... $200 dollars later and they will ask for one last payment.... your ipad/iPhone or whatever they are trying to fix will not get fixed, they just scam you for your money. They try and get qs much money as they can out of you... they will try and make it look legit with "hacking software or screenshots" but it is all fake. If a apple product is locked and the owner cant recover the password or reset, then the apple product is dead. There is no way around it. This is the bad thing about Apple products.
You dont know how many laptops and ipads get sold to a 3rd party to restore and resell but can't because they are locked. All they do is strip it for usable parts and junk the main board because of the proprietary lock. There is no way around it.

I went from having iPad unavailable to using this program because it seemed easy. Now I have a bricked iPad. I should have done the long process with iTunes. I tried to take the easy route because the video made it look so simple.
It should be as simple as in the video. Where did it fail, did it produce and error code ?
@@rickstechrepairs well that’s the weird thing it said successfully completed process. I tried on iTunes after it said error with iPad. Then I tried last night with iTunes it worked. Seems like 3u works for a lot of things but it looks like somehow it glitched for me.

I can't get 3u for some reason it says that you can't open this application because Microsoft Windows applications are not supported on Mac iOS
i dont have an alternative suggestion, do the same steps to get in to recovery and use itunes to restore
I try to do this was it normal that after the successful restore int the 3utools my iPad says “iPad unavailable try again in 7hr and 48 minutes”

If you have tried restoring the iPad on 3utools and iTunes and it's failing
There might a more major fault with the iPad,
Possibly try the restore on another computer and a different USB cable or contact a local phone PC repair shop
Hi mate great video! Im struggling a bit ive got my ipad plugged in and ive done the quick flash but it seems to get stuck on 19% and an ok button appears, when i click the ok it just goes back to the download screen and i have to reflash again. Any suggestions would be much appreciated cheers
Found an ipad with the "iPad Unavailable" message for sale on ebay for super cheap, was about to buy it thinking I found a sweet deal until I got to the end of the video and realized I'd need the original icloud username and password to unlock. Nevermind then! Thanks for showing the whole process, glad I didn't buy it.

My son did this to his iPad. I filled the instructions and it worked just like he stated. You will need the Apple ID and the computer you are using to do this must be a PC. They do not offer the software for Mac.

My ipad get put of recovery mode in 15 minutes and the download gets cancelled. I have tried apple device app as well. My Ipad is in warrenty but they are saying that it will cost me to get it reset from store or service center. Suggest me something please.

Yep. Works great to remove the message ...no problem. Well, one problem has come up; now it starts up and says "owner locked out".
