I've done "discovery dives" in several locations, including Hawaii. I think the older I get the more I would be interested in SNUBA, so I don't have the weight of the tanks. My first time going on a discovery dive was in Cozumel with my husband. He died from Kidney cancer 7 months later, but we had that one cruise together. I've carried on, and cruised many times in the ensuing years, and found a new partner to share the remaining years with. Keep doing what you enjoy, and keep moving forward.
It really was so fun being all together. I would happily cruise with Ben & David and Dee & Jay any day! I believe we will be together again next year for the inaugural sailing of Icon of the Seas 🥳
Hi Stef! New subscriber here. I heard about you through Ben and David's videos. 😁 I am loving your channel! My sincere condolences on the passing of Sean. My mom passed of pancreatic cancer at age 59. Such a mean, cruel disease. I am looking forward to viewing you past cruise videos with Sean, as well as following you on your new adventures! 🥰 I would also like to add, your smile is infectious.
Hi Julie! So sorry to hear about your mom. All my love to you and your family. It is such a terrible disease. Thanks for following along on the adventure. I am very thankful that I am able to continue carrying the travel torch that Sean & I started together ❤️
I haven't been to Hawaii since I was a teenage in the late 80's.. one of the most beautiful places ive been! Great memories. My personal favorite island was Kauai.
There was active lava one time when we were there... It was 2006 or 2016 but it was way down at the coast. We drove to the posting area and tried to walk down to see it but we had to get back to the ship and missed the lava tube as well. 😢 The stream vents looked WAY more ACTIVE than when we were there! Must be the pressure building up for the eruption Ben and David talked about. We didn't have the port experience in Maui you guys did. Both times we went we were tendered in to Lahaina. I think they're building a dock in town for the cruise ships. Bummer about the snuba thing. Hubby can't seem to breathe under water so I doubt he could do it but I'd love to try it. You're doing Sean proud! Good on ya!
I remember reading once that someone described going fully under the water for the 1st time during a scuba class was like being in a burning building. So glad you were able to work out your concerns & were able to enjoy the day.
Oh wow, that’s such an interesting analogy and I can see how that is true. It’s unnatural to be pulled to the depths of the ocean, lol. I was so happy I did it and will try it again someday. Life is all about trying new things even if we find them a little terrifying 😊
Just to make you feel a little better……I learned to scuba on Maui when I was in my late 20’s…..no fear and my first full dive was 100 feet off the coast at a coral reef. It was fabulous. Fast forward 20 years and I was on Maui with my family and we decided to snuba because I was the only one who had been dive certified. The rest went right down with no problem……I had what I would call a panic attack and had a terrible time going below the water. The instructor was great, took his time with me…..I was mighty embarrassed…..and I finally relaxed and was able to enjoy the dive. If you get back give it another try. Slow, calm and steady works. 😉
You crazy adorable girl, you! You've convinced me to book my excursions privately. I went dry suit snorkeling in Iceland and had a rough time towards the end, so I think I'll give the snuba a miss.
Loved it thanks for sharing! Just had a co-worker diagnosed w/ pancreatic cancer this week. So sad, such a mean disease. I am glad you are out exploring the world. It brings happiness to all of us thru your lens.
Hi Stef. So happy to see this video. I'm with you on the snoba thing, I would have totally panicked if I felt like I was being pulled down. Iove the water so much but that would have been hard to deal with. Great tour of the volcano, so amazing. I could only imagine cruising with all of you. Such a great group of people and so fun!! Thank you for doing all this so we can join you on these adventures. Happy Friday and have a great holiday weekend. ❤❤
It was definitely a mental game and I lost, haha. The one time where I wish I wasn’t a strong swimmer so I couldn’t fight the thought of being pulled to the bottom of the ocean. Next time….in a very long time from now, I will do better 😁 the volcano was unbelievable. Loved getting to travel to these amazing places with Ben, David, Dee & Jay. We had such a great time. One laugh after another. Happy Friday to you as well and happy 4th 🥳
Thanks for this video. Great to see how you manage with the diving. And I love to see the trip from Hilo. See familiar views. We’ve been there in October 2012, with the Disney Wonder. We did a “private” excursion with a couple of stops, but had most time at the volcano. I believe that then it had erupted just a couple of days/weeks before we came there. We didn’t see the active lava, they shut down the roads, but we saw those steam holes and I think also the path down, where people walked. I have to search my photos to see. But those lava fields with the trees are so great. Looking forward to see the rest of your trip.
I have to say, “…we haven’t seen anything of the ship, yet…” is such a completely foreign concept to me! I have never taken a cruise in which I haven’t explored every single INCH of her prior to sailaway! And that includes when I’m doing a repeat voyage on a ship I have already sailed! I guess I’m just crazy that way…😂 Thank you for a wonderful video. Looking forward to your Alaska stops.
I typically explore as well but this time with the 6 hour time difference and hitting the ground running from day 1 with port after port, I didn’t have the time. I was able to explore during all the sea days on our travels to Alaska. Thanks for following along on the journey
This was a great video of the volcano park. I always get so tickled when I see you try something new to eat! Your face with the spam, rice and seaweed, priceless! 😂
The volcano National park was more spectacular than I even could have imagined. So glad I got to visit such a cool place. And haha, that musubi was something. I’ll skip that one next time 😂
Hi Stef yes breathing with a regulator takes some practice. Back when we taught scuba diving that was the part that most people had to get used to. By next time you do this it will be easier. Looking forward to the Alaska video.
It was a lot harder than I thought. Of course it didn’t help that my brain was screaming at me as we were sinking to the bottom of the ocean, lol. If I didn’t fight the weight weighing me down, I think I could have been more calm and focused on breathing instead of just focused on sinking. Good to know that I will be better next time
You are such a trip Steph! You make us smile and laugh and your commentary and content is excellent. I know Snuba is probably not for me cause I’m a lot like you😂. But you pushed through and persevered. Kilauea vlog piece and all the rest excellent! Thanks so much!❤️
Thanks for watching and for following along on the adventure. Snuba was something, haha and the volcano was the coolest place ever. Can’t wait to show you Alaska next
Looking forward to Alaska and all your adventures Stef ( finally spelled your name right !) . Thanks for all you do and keep on being you… we so enjoy All you do!❤️
Hawai’i was more amazing than I could have ever imagined. And you are exactly right. It was totally a head game. In this instance it would have been better if I wasn’t a strong swimmer and could t fight the weight pulling me down. I will try it again for sure. Couldn’t have asked for better friends to travel with on this big adventure. We had the best time
I wasn’t expecting to have my brain fight every moment of snuba. I would like to try again…..someday in the very far future 😂 Thanks so much for watching and following along on this crazy adventure. Blessed that I got the chance to take this trip with such great friends
It was totally a mental fight for me. Wish I could have gotten past it but I couldn’t escape the sinking to my death feeling. Next time I will do better. Glad your experience was better than mine 😁
Did they have a buoyancy control vest on you, or just a weight belt? In scuba diving, weight and buoyancy are a fine balance. You might have been more comfortable if they had started to familiarize you in water shallow enough to stand.
We just had a weight belt and it was the one time where I wish I wasn’t a strong swimmer, lol. Wish I couldn’t fight the weight and just relax and focus on the breathing. Unfortunately my brain was not liking sinking to the bottom of the ocean. It would have been awesome to try it somewhere I could stand but this time we were just in the middle of the ocean. I think I will do better next time for sure
I was fighting it so hard and that was causing me to breathe even harder. It was great after I took that off. Guess my brain just couldn’t get over the fact that I was being pulled to the bottom of the ocean 😂
Aww man, wish they would have just taken some of the weight off belt & not the whole belt. That way you wouldn't have sank so fast. At least you tried it!
That would have been great. I was struggling hard with the sinking. Even though I failed miserably, I am so happy I did it. I will try it again someday 😁
We talked to the Hawaiians when we purchased and I pronounced musubi the way they said it. I also follow islandmagicmike on TikTok and he did a whole bit on musubi and he pronounced it moo-sue-bee (the girl selling in the video also said it that way as well): www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8enmc39/
Absolutely fabulous Stef and with amazing friends x❤

This has been such a great collab between the five of you. I’m loving all the different viewpoints. Please consider doing this again!

I would have unwrapped that rice roll too! What a fun video! Love you Stef! ❤❤

Thank you so much for watching 😊
Steff, Love your honesty in these adventures. It lessens the commercial feel and becomes more personable. Thanks!
Thanks so much. I try my best to be honest and open with every excursion I take. Thanks so much for watching
Next stop Alaska!😊 Enjoyed your videos from Hawaii Stef.
Great vid, thank you so much for sharing.
Take care and be safe❤❤
Thanks so much for watching. Hope you have a nice weekend 😊
It looks like a wonderful time. I love to see you so happy and I am so glad you are having the trip of a lifetime.
It was a fantastic trip. So happy I could take this once in a lifetime adventure ❤️

Thanks so much for watching! Pancreatic cancer is so awful. I’m sorry your co-worker is going through that. Sending hugs to you and their family

Great video. Hawaii is the best.
When you watch too much true crime 😂 that would have been me too! This has been a great series!
Not me automatically thinking bones 😂😂 Thanks for following along. Alaska is up next. Can’t wait!
Hi Stef, been with you for a few years. Just checking in to say hi!
Hi Tod! Great to hear from you again. Hope all is well

Wow what an amazing adventure! I would love to go to Hawaii! ❤️🌺🐢🌋
Thanks for following along! Definitely recommend seeing Hawai’i at least once in your lifetime. Every part of that state is spectacular
Such a fun time in Hawai’i! Sorry about the snuba issue. That kind of thing is such a mental game. Loving these adventures with your framily!!!

You are very brave! That snuba experience would have done me in. So glad to see your great videos, especially with your friends.

@@seanandsteftry an intro to scuba pool class!
That’s a great idea. I am going to look into it 😁
Hey Stef
Good day to you. Thanks for sharing your adventures...
Awesome
Happy 4th of July
🎉😂🎉
Hi Tim! Hope you had a nice week. Happy 4th to you as well
Hey Stef! This has been a great collab!!! Do you know if you are going to be on the Utopia OTS next July?
Great video ❤ and great adventure girl!
Thanks so much and thanks for following along 😁
We used the guide guy for Yellowstone and named him Henry. 😂 That looks amazing.
Haha, Henry is a great name! I love how we give him names. Hope Yellowstone was fantastic. I hope to get there one day
We did Snuba years ago with the same company. I loved it but my friend couldn’t tolerate it.
It was totally a mental fight for me. Wish I could have gotten past it but I couldn’t escape the sinking to my death feeling. Next time I will do better. Glad your experience was better than mine 😁

That weight belt would have totally freaked me out.
I was fighting it so hard and that was causing me to breathe even harder. It was great after I took that off. Guess my brain just couldn’t get over the fact that I was being pulled to the bottom of the ocean 😂
The taxis come into the gate. I was there in September. It is because you are getting a private car.
That’s great to know. We didn’t see any taxis until we were totally outside the port but good to know that there are some inside
Your snack was called masubi. Pronounced mah-SOO-bee. 😀
My apologies@@seanandstef! I was misled, apparently…. 😖
@andrewbrown574 no worries at all. I don’t know which is right, haha
