Because he left after himself the most stable country in Avatar Universe during Korra timeline. But from this show they don’t really tell us about how they parent besides Aang which wasn’t great because he was so focused on Tenzin and Toph who we know definitely wasnt good lol. One of my favorite episodes in the entire show. Imo it shows just because you disagree or hate someone even one day, doesn't mean that has to be forever. You can learn from previous pains as well.
This is probably my favorite episode of the entire Atla universe. I loved the message that Korra learned in this episode. Zaheers line about how much power Korra has will be utilized in the final episode of the season. I loved how Korra uses earth bending to play with Naga at the beginning of the episode. I also love how Korra smiles when Bolin shows up because it shows that she missed him. I mean she hadn’t seen him in over 3 years. I also really liked how Mako was the only one who didn’t question whether or not she could do things. I also loved the conversation she has with Mako after confronting Zaheer. He asks her if she’s ready to forget and she says no but that she’s finally able to accept what happened and is able to recognize that it’s now a part of her. The score and writing for this episode is fantastic.

It's probably not the only episode of AtlA that does these things but I agree that this is an episode that shows the strengths of the series, beyond just cool fights and funny gags. Here you have, a full episode devoted entirely to character development.
@@zorochii if you actually think this is deep and thoughtful writing then you need to watch E;R's breakdown of why Zaheer and Korra's conversation was nonsensical trash I was tricked into liking it when I first saw it, but when you take a moment to think about the conversation you quickly realize it makes no sense
So, a small comment you made, but I see it generally comes up in your reactions a lot: "why didn't they do that earlier?" Sometimes this is reasonably asked, but often it's asked....seconds to minutes into a problem. The writing is never going to have characters immediately realize or solve the issue, because 1.) other mechanisms like establishing shots and events and character moments and reactions have to occur and 2.) it's not how humans typically think. Unless the character is built on immediate deduction like Sherlock Holmes or some other genius...the problem-solving mode and solution list is gonna take a bit. In this case, Korra and friends are gonna see how lost or bizarre the situation is before they use a recent spirit/Avatar technique that communes with nature.
Even though his motives/reasons might've been related to Anarchy (in it of itself just crazy and nonsensical for a society to existing and progress), you could always respect he was willing to act with conviction for what he believed, soo much he will also help a previous enemy as long as it relates to his ultimate goal as well
Prince Wu still has power in the eyes of the government and other world leaders. They want him on the throne or governing Ba Sing Se because, while foolish and immature, he actually negotiates and communicates with the other leaders.

Really good episode, heck I guess they made me regret wishing they off'd Zaheer, very good antagonist that is/was in that position due to circumstances. At a point he kinda seemed regretful because Kuvira is kind of his fault. Liking a lot Kuvira too as an antagonist.
Zahaer was genuinely helping korra he was not saying that to get out of there he can go to the spirit world in prison anyway without living the prison by just sitting down in the chains in prison

It makes me wonder if a side-effect of Zaheer detaching his earthly tethers was, eventually, to loosen his focus on ending the Avatar.
