lol i havent noticededed
OMG 😅 haha, he is! I didn't even know those existed! I knew it became a meme in the community, but I didn't realise how big "Boom! Tetris for Jeff" has become. Wow
I remember that match. Jeff was even getting credit for Jonas's Tetris.. the announcers couldn't keep track of their names lol
can someone explain this "boom tetris for jeff" shirt? I watched that 2016 match and there was nothing that made sense of the meme.
@@FesliyanStudios BOOM TETRIS FOR JEFF
Jonas Neubauer
April 19, 1981 - January 5, 2021
Passing the torch to the new generations.
Thanks for everything Jonas!
Will remember you the most in October during CTWC...
aw, damn.... I'm so sad to read that. :(
SPOILER
The reason Jonas lost is cause he wasnt rocking his classic leather jacket that gives him tetris super powers.
It's like Jeff's headphones
and because there wasn't the chinese cowboy
아쿠아리읏Aquarius very true
But red bull gives you wings
Nope. Its because Koryan was an Asian.
"we should probably try to commentate more on the match itself"
"ok im sorry"
*silence*
Seriously lmfao. Wtf was this commentary choice? “i lOvE iT wHeN jOnAs sQuIrMs”
Regardless of who wins, we all get to enjoy a great match.
DDuuuhhhh
Absolutely.
Greetings from Spain.

HMMM
Oh I just heard that. Oh man, if only they knew what was coming. "There's a young man now doing something interesting..."
Lol I just heard that it was hilarious.
Considering how he ultra-dominated the competition until some even younger generation gave him some challenge, I think the commentator knows his name now lol.
That set was insane!!! Love Koryan’s shirt😂
Do the video already bruh it has been 10 years since last upload.
Hey my dude, didn't expect you here in the comment section. 😂
@Brenden Harley he's a fan of Jonas

Well spotted.

With 8 T piece trophies and 2 long bars, Jonas could make a real life Tetris
Watching Jonas gives me a long bar.
Too bad he'd lose them all after making it

Damn, that's deep.
aguyandhiscomputer but at least you can rest easy knowing you have created a tetris in real life, something only few can ever really do.

Most exciting 5 game tetris match of all time!
Spoilers
Ran Ng he does and dominates it as well.
@Ran Ng But dis is "Classic Tetris" and that's the game.
Ran Ng If you check out Jonas's twitch page "NubbinsGoody", you'll see some videos of him playing modern Puyo Puyo Tetris. He doesn't consider himself a top player, but he's decent.
Classic tetris is so fucking boring, it's so slow and there's not many players compared to other tetris games. I don't get why people even watch this shit.
As a person who doesn't watch competitive Tetris, I'm not sure how I landed on this video. I watched the whole thing with great fervor and a surprising amount of enjoyment. That was amazingly intense and dramatic and, even knowing what little about the game that I do, it blew me away to watch. What really, really, really impressed me, though, was the amount of camaraderie and sportsmanship shown by the contestants. There was no doubt that they respected one another. They were never going to just let the other win but had no intention of being disrespectful or rude in the processes of trying to get the victory.
It's not often stated how important your opponent is to making you better but it's one of, if not the most, important things to improving. People get lazy, some will know they are the best, or good enough, and stop reaching further beyond their own limits. Which is fine, if they just want to be the best for that moment, never looking further or reaching out to find their true potential. Stagnantly doing only what is necessary. Having someone who pushes you to become better, though, even if only slightly, is invaluable to becoming the best you can be. If you have the drive to find your own limits and wield it like a hammer, then a strong, at times more capable, rival is without question the required anvil. The two constantly battering against one another with your skills, knowledge, and talent being the malleable metal caught in between. To continue the metaphor, it is what keeps it all sharp.
It's fantastic to be competitive. Humans, society, technology, and athleticism is all carried to its greatest heights by competition. What's not necessary, is competing without respect for your opponents. Even if they're obviously less talented or skillful, they have every ability to gain ground quickly and potentially overtake you. Like the commentators said, there are kids who just started playing the game doing amazing things. That's true for everything in the world. Just because you are on top now, and have clocked in the most experience possible, doesn't mean you can't be dethroned by someone who just picked it up and understands things about their anatomy, the game, and its systems that you just don't. Understanding will always be the most important part of anything you do, it is the foundation of skillfulness.
Age, experience, and the time you invested are all just saying the same thing. That you had more opportunities to form a better understanding of whatever it is that you were doing. If you spent those seconds, minutes, and hours unfocused, not trying to achieve the understanding you could have, then you will be taken down by someone who better utilized that time or had a natural gift of understanding that you just did not. Considering yourself "the best!" while resting on your laurels is competitive suicide. Even if you're right in that moment, you won't be forever. It's fine to decouple from whatever it is, long enough to recharge, just don't let those moments recharging extend further than they should.
So, I'll conclude my soapbox manifesto by saying I am super inspired by these two competitors. They looked each other in the eye, shook hands like gentlemen, smiled at one another between rounds, tried with absolutely everything they had, and genuinely congratulated the other on a game/match well played. I know it was an exhibition, thereby taking some of the seriousness away, I can almost guarantee they behave the same way during a real tournament. Take notes, that's how you win or lose with class.
TLDR: Great sportsmanship in the video. You should always respect your opponent and utilize their talents to make you better at whatever it is that you strive to be great at! Just don't stop at "great" if you have it in you to be the best. Don't stop at "The best" if you can go further and become "The Greatest of All Time!" Just remember that understanding the thing you're doing is the only thing that matters. Beyond experience, age, or time played. Correct is a result, not a process. If the rules allow it, then however you win is acceptable. Just do it with honor and respect for the game and its players. Otherwise, your victory will be tarnished and those who should revere you will praise you with caveats about your demeanor.
(I don't want this to sound condescending or like I'm a know-it-all. This is completely meant as advice that came to mind based off of things I saw in that video and things I've personally learned in my life. Things that I've not seen clearly conveyed as often as they should be. If I come across as an asshole, please know I didn't mean it that way nor do I want you to think "Wow, look how smart this guy is!" I don't know that I am smart and you definitely shouldn't think I am. I've just noticed a few things here and there and hope that information might help someone else who, is a slow learner like myself, and hasn't noticed it yet. Why I typed all this out on a Tetris video, I can only guess.I believe it was because of the impeccable behavior of these two competitors. Who seemed to do so much, of the things I mentioned, right, that I figured it might be good for me to share my thoughts here and hopefully spread some joy around based off of their wonderful sportsmanship.)
Holy crap, I’m gonna turn your comment in as my English essay.
I clicked on "Read more" expecting that you had basically said what you wanted to say and that there would be one more concluding sentence or so. I did a double take.
Yeah, I don't know what to say. I had no intention of writing all that. Also, feel free to turn that in as your essay. I won't promise you a positive grade though. :p
Thanks for taking the time to read all of that, to anyone who did. I really hope my intent comes across and doesn't me sound like a Freshman Philosophy major at home on Thanksgiving break, or some such other nonsense. I swear I only wanted it to convey the few little things I've learned first hand over the years that really sank in and I found important. Again, no idea why a Tetris video made me say it. :p Though, in a way, I'm glad it did.
You made a nice wall of pure consecutive tetrises.
I enjoyed reading your comment

RIP Jonas... Probably the best the game will ever see... :(
about that comment about younger kids picking this game up, i would like to say that it is solely because of the matches posted online
i agree. i never knew there was pro tetris, let alone it being so intense they probably couldnt make robots to beat these guys.
Zach Childs I would actually say that in a week computer neural network geniuses like googles deep mind would oblitirate any tetris player.
Let's just hope not...
These matches made me want to play this Tetris, and now I have been for 2 months

Koryan is such a legend...you can tell that by the tshirt he’s donned 👊 respect to jonas as well

7:38 exactly the same score for a few seconds. Glad the commentators are watching 😂
Neck a neck!!!
Wow, this is probably the greatest Tetris match in the history of Tetris. The fact that it went a fifth game, and both players hit over 900k in that fifth game with one getting a max out is mind boggling.
This is the Best Match :D
I'm so agree with you... you only forgot to begin your comment with a huge: SPOILER ALERT!!! 🤣
The CTM match between Joseph and Koryan in March tops this one
I feel the pain of these two uncomfortable non-bro commentators
Wow. Scary good level of tetris.
Hope these two meet in the final this year. That was quite a match.
nah i want a classic harry vs jonas
when is the finals?
All your expectations got crushed tho xD
Joshep 18YO is best.. he will be champion again...

Koryan could've made a case that he was the best after this game. Then Joseph arrived.
Then, Dog was born.

While watching round 4 I thought it was the most exciting game I have seen so far. Then round 5 came along 😮
Koreon totally deserves a championship title he is a beast. Jonas you still my fave :) like the time Harry took it in 14, it will only make you stronger and better. Thank you for being such a graceful loser and a gracious winner. You bring much honor to you and the sport. Boom Tetris for Koooooorean!!!
I hope these two meet in the finals this year. What an exhibition.

Everyone in this video couldn't have expected the force that would come December later in the year...
I need Koryan's T-shirt, that shit is legendary.

Вы еще русскую озвучку не слышали, сам Джонас не так радуется палке как он
Never see this maxout pace Koryan vs Jonas in last round, before he is only maxout for himself for couple times, but this time is very incredible.
What I love about Tetris championships is that it's very competitive, but noone gets pissed off because their favorite lost. I put it down to intelligence like you don't see in football
That was a fabulous exhibition match, and it's awesome to see CTWC going international!
I'm 16 yo and I really like these videos. There is something calming about watching people play Tetris. Thinking about getting an NES to play haha
Same... but i am 15 and want a switch to play tetris 99
Unbelievably awesome competition play. I was definitely expecting a good game. But I was not expecting that.
Amazing stuff. Love the sportsmanship. These guys have great attitudes and are setting a great example while showcasing some incredible skills.
That was the best Terri’s match I’ve ever watched
Congratulations to both players!

okay these commentators are actually amazing ! i appreciate the commentary and i actually rly enjoyed watching and listening :D
I'm so excited for CTWC 2018. What are the dates for it?
CTWC returns October 19-21. Really looking forward to it, I think we could see a new champion crowned in Portland.
Ronster1703 idk jonas still looking really solid
Jonas just needs to wear his lucky jacket to win again
my man jonas gonna take it all again
They both got flogged by Joseph haha
Instant like crew checking in.
Great Match! Seeing them get to max out and play the 5 games was impressive! Congrats to Korian and Jonas!
I get the same feelings of anxiety and stress watching these Tetris matches that I get when watching an important sports match. So entertaining! Great job by both competitors and Jonas is a great face for the competitive Tetris community!
Vacíos esos asientos, lástima que no vivo por ahí para ver el BOOM tetrix for Jonas :'u

It's BACK!!
Been waiting for more Jonas action all this time, I know I'm 4 days late but still.
Watching this is like having a succession of mini heart attacks; about one every 10 seconds for 50 minutes. That was amazing!
Koryan сбивает с толку. Сам японец, имя созвучно с Кореей, а на майке лицо, похожее на финалиста 2016 года - Jeff.
В игре выпадают почему-то не зеркальные тетрамино. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I don't get it. Did Jonas just... you know... *lost* ? :o
Obviously a filthy westerner wouldn't stand a chance against a glorious samurai warrior!
It's No Use - Yours will be a stillborn yeah but Jonas had only lost one game in all of CTWC history
@ Exhibition matches not counted.
After scoring 921440. Craziest match of Tetris ever. Hoping we see a maxout in Portland.
It was a neck and neck situation and Jonas caved under the pressure
Eventually I hope the CTWC turns into something like the World Series of Poker where there are multiple tournaments going on at the same time representing the different Tetris games with Classic Tetris being the crown jewel of it all.
I love how open they are with the commentary language.
Had pornhub opened on another window, somehow got on this video and just decided to watch the whole thing....what am I doing with my life?

Amazing show guys! Congrats to both of you, you are the best in the world!!
I have been waiting all year for this! BOOM TETRIS.
I really like these commentators, they did a great job.

the danmark FUCK USA
They make the game even more interesting, they're actually good commentators too
nah
Just one of them.
Clash of the titans
The kid he pronounced wrong just defeated Jonas ,WOW.
That game 4 comeback for Jonas and then the game 5 one for Koryan... insane match, can’t wait for the CTWC
I'm curious as to the piece totals that are shown ingame but not in this public display format. When not playing with the same starting RNG, a longbar drought can make one player's game much tougher and it looked like Jonas got droughted at some key moments. Amazing match regardless, but CTWC will put both players on more equal footing so RNG is not a factor.
How do players sync up starting RNG?
Best players in the word!!!!!!
YES :v 999999

Anyone else remember the Victorinox Tetris top 10 game back in 2002? Every month they gave away special tetris Victorinox wallet card knives. That game was a lot of fun!
So happy to see new a new tetris video
Rip jonas 💔
For those of you who say "Of course Koryan wins, he is Asian", remember that
1. it kinda condescends other Asian players like SQR that haven't even been able to get to CTWC finals,
2. Harry Hong is also Asian but was beaten by Jonas multiple times before 2014 victory (but has not been at a final ever since)
3. CTWC has been dominated by non-Asian players like Quaid Ritchie, Alex Kerr, Matt Buco, and definitely Jonas Neubauer.
4. Koryan was eliminated in Round of 16 in 2017 CTWC.
lol I smell racism in this comment
XD I myself am an Asian... the purpose was to counter the stereotype that Koryan is good just because he is Asian.
The past doesn't matter.
@@White_Tiger93 It's more like, he's replying to some racist supremacists about the skills of asians, especially regarding video games. It's hilarious you consider someone debunking a racist stereotype, to be a racist. It's the total opposite.

Excited for CTWC 2018!!
Now that was a good fucking match of Tetris, like I don’t think you could get any better than that match, great fucking job Koryan and Jonas as always
different set pieces? why??
1985gvs it’s because they are just using the regular Tetris cart. In the championship they use a custom Tetris cart that allows two systems to have the same pieces.
Justinarm25 I think with different tetris pieces it comes down to luck between to players who are so close in skill.
1985gvs Very good point. I believe that’s why they have the same pieces in the championship
1985gvs this is exhibition match and doesnt count. Idk how to spell that word
Yeah I noticed that the Korean guy was getting good pieces while the American was getting dooped.... There was a few times the American got lucky, but the Korean guy pretty much was getting the pieces he wanted at the right times mostly. But still great match and both are awesome players.
RIP
Great, great gameplay!!!! Loved it!
