I really can’t understand why someone would want to take recommendations from someone who spends a few days in Paris. A couple points on this vlog: 1. The restaurants further up the hill in Montmartre are not very good and become essentially tourist traps the closer you get to Basilique du Sacre Coeur. However, if you stay in Pigalle or further down the hill on side streets, you can find good and/or authentic restaurants. 2. Pink Mamma/Big Mamma is a tourist trap with subpar food. There are decent Italian restaurants in Paris if you want, but this is not it. 3. The food on the Bateaux Mouches is famously bad; however, the tour by river is definitely worth doing. Save your money and just book the tour, then go to dinner at one of the good restaurants. 4. There are many good bars and many good speakeasies in Paris. If you want high quality drinks and not just the novelty of a speakeasy, La Candelaria and Moonshiner are probably the two best options.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and recommendations! This wasn’t our first trip to Paris, but we loved, and we were so glad we chose the dinner option because he provided such a nice experience with Battaeux Mouches, we also adored staying in Montmarte and loved the speakeasy and restaurant recommendations we provided in our review and had the most wonderful trip how it was planned. We are always open to recommendations for future trips and appreciate your tips as well! :)
@@ashleyandallan, The bateaux mouches are a great way to see the city, but I don’t know anyone who actually looks forward to eating on them (oftentimes companies will have events on them). My recommendation if to go on one during the sunset, have a beer or depending on the company might have one decent red, white, and champagne selection (don’t get cocktails), then head from dinner when the cruise concludes. The problem with recommending these tourist restaurants is that it allows them to continue serving subpar food at above average prices to the detriment of actual good restaurants. Places like Pink Momma/Big Momma are notorious for this kind of thing because the place looks nice in photos and in videos, but the reality is not good quality. The maddening part is that if you are in that neighborhood, you are within blocks of a few really good restaurants/bistros yet people choose to eat at average or below average places. I know a number of Italians in Paris and don’t know one who would recommend eating there. On the topic of bars, the most famous from a historical perspective is Harry’s New York Bar (the Bloody Mary, Boulevardier, Sidecar, amongst others were invented there). The most important in the city and one of the most important in the world at the moment is Little Red Door. Other good options in addition to the ones I mentioned previously are Le Syndicate, Sherry Butt (my favorite one cocktail in Paris), Le Mary Celeste, Bisou, Lulu White (same guys as Little Red Door), Dirty Dick’s, Danico, Cambridge Public House, and Blue Bird. If you want something more elegant, you head to a hotel- the best for cocktails are The Hemingway Bar at the Ritz, Hôtel Crillon, or the roof terrace bar attached to L’Oseau Blanc at the Peninsula Hotel (a good option for sunset).
