  • Hey, and welcome! Today is all about getting rid of pizza wheel marks! The focus is on adjusting computer settings, printer settings, and cleaning the small “pizza” wheels on the printer. The goal is to slow the printer down and put enough ink on the paper to do the job, but not too much! I’m using a MacBook Pro and an Epson Workforce 7710, but I cover settings on a pc, and many printers have similar settings as the 7710.
    Please check out our Facebook group, groups/55947.... If you enjoy sublimation, just answer a couple of quick questions and join. We’d love to have you!
    I hope you enjoy, and if this video helped you, please give it a thumbs up! And also, be sure to subscribe for more upcoming fun and informative videos!
    Here are the links to the products I used in this video:
    Isopropyl Alcohol: amzn.to/3GLfJLO
    1-1/2” x 4 yards Ribbon: amzn.to/3BnfB3W
    2” blue painters tape (2”w x 55 yds, one roll)($6.99): amzn.to/3HVJAm1
    (2” x 60 yds, three rolls)($15.99): amzn.to/3GQYI2W
    Other items I use regularly:
    20mm x 33m, 108 feet (larger) heat tape (This is the one I use almost exclusively!): amzn.to/33CHvvZ
    13mm x 33m, 108 feet heat tape (This is my backup, and what I sometimes use.): amzn.to/3eh4LBU
    10mm x 33m, 108 feet (narrower) heat tape (This is what I used to always use, and recommend if you prefer narrow tape.): amzn.to/3edULJC
    Desktop tape dispenser: amzn.to/3qfs2tG
    24” metal ruler: amzn.to/3G9371v
    Folding utility knife: amzn.to/3fjkUr8
    Olaf 12” x 18” self-healing cutting mat: amzn.to/3JbZ0n4
    Oven thermometer ($5.99): amzn.to/3BkTuv7

      Hey, Diana, great question! It probably could. I live in Florida where it’s super humid, but everything is inside my home, so I don’t really have to deal with that. But yes, I suppose it could have a lot to do with the ink drying time! Thanks for watching!

    • @industrialfringe953
      @industrialfringe953  Год назад +1

      Hey! For me, it’s about cleaning those pesky wheels. Whenever I’m going to print some designs with a lot of dark colors, I automatically clean them before hand. And I do a preventative clean about every week or two, just to make sure. Cleaning the wheels won’t change any settings, but there are some setting adjustments that help slow down the printing process. Those are covered in the video, and the setting adjustments in the video should just slow down the printer. They shouldn’t affect colors. Thanks for watching!

      Hey, Cindy, a lot of your controls and options are dictated by the printer and printer drivers. If you have Facebook, it may be easier to converse back and forth if you join the Facebook group (link in the description). Thanks so much for watching!

      @@industrialfringe953 hi thanks for responding, i didn't install the drivers, i have the epson et2720 . is there a way to install the drivers ? i've cleaned out my rollers several times, done nozzle checks everything prints out fine on the test page there are no missing segments but when i print a sublimation design the pizza wheels are there. i have so many orders to get to and can't because i can't seem to figure out how to get rid of the pizza wheels

    • @industrialfringe953
      @industrialfringe953  Год назад

      If everything is printing fine in the test pages, it’s more than likely the actual wheels. You need to try and do everything you can to slow the printing process down. Make sure you’ve done everything I talk about in the video. You can probably find the drivers online. If you don’t have any of the options, you’ll probably need to try and install the drivers. If you can adjust even some of the things I talked about that may help.

      Talia, I’m so sorry to hear you’re having problems. I get the frustration. The goal is to slow the printing down and to not put too much ink on the paper. Did you try cleaning the wheels? In Printers and Scanners under options, there should be a high speed option. If you can’t find it, join the Facebook group and we can try and walk through it.

    • @redgeminipa

      Make sure you choose the Epson drivers during setup, not AirPrint. Then open Options & Supplies while on the printer in Printers and Scanners under Settings>Printers, and select Use Generic Printer Features. This will unlock the advanced printer options on the Print dialog. You can then fine tune the density and drying time.
      Hope this helps.

    • @industrialfringe953
      @industrialfringe953  Год назад

      The only thing I can think of is, when printing, it’s laying down more ink, and/or going faster and not giving the ink enough time to dry before hitting the wheels. Look at reducing the amount of ink you lay down and try everything you can to slow the print process down. (I don’t use best print quality, I use normal, I find the using normal gives me more than enough ink for sublimating.) Thanks for watching!

    • @industrialfringe953

      Ideally, you don’t want that, but if you have the issues, unless it’s a printer made for sublimation, you’re only option is to try and get it working correctly. Some people go for the life of the printer and don’t have issues, some have issues right out of the box. Best of luck, and thanks for watching.

      I’m so sorry to hear that. Did you let it sit for 24 hours? You’ve got to do everything you can to slow the print down. And to not put too much ink on the paper. If you’ve done all that and everything in the video, I’m not sure what else you can do. I’ve heard where some people take those little pizza wheels out of the printer. I don’t recommend that, and I’m not brave enough to try it. Whatever you do, good luck!

    Hey Roy, I have only used two different TRUE sublimation printers, the Sawgrass SG800 and recently the Epson F570 sublimation printer, and I have NEVER ever had or experienced Pizza Wheel Marks.
    When you use a printer that was actually made for sublimation, you don't get Pizza Wheel Marks. IMHO

    • @industrialfringe953
      @industrialfringe953  2 года назад +6

      Jon, I 100% agree. There are a lot. Wait. A LOT of people who can’t afford those printers (although there is an argument to be made about the Epson F170 since it’s not too far off the price point that a lot of people are paying to convert some printers, if you can get away with not having wide format). My next printer will 100% absolutely without a doubt be an Epson sub printer. (Unless there’s something I’m not factoring in, I’m going to stay away from Sawgrass, as I’ve heard the cost of ink is crazy expensive.) Here’s the thing. Most people, me included, would never have been able to get into sublimation if we would’ve had to spend that kind of money to start out. And whether it’s the best decision or not, a lot of people have a converted printer. That’s who this video is for. And yes, I’ll be coming to you for advice when I end up buying an Epson sub printer!
