    Excellent install! You might consider moving the sediment filter so that it is before the pump. The fine grit can damage that pump and pressure tank, too. Thanks for these videos.

    If you are hitting rock, it's the limerock layer in Florida, which is bottom of surface water table! Good water but usually a lot of sulfur in water. It is also usually potable at that layer though. Keep that in mind with your filtration system to come. Should also be a reliable water source since all ground water is held here before slowly moving through rock to lower layer. If you drill past this layer you usually have to go down over 100 ft before you hit lower water table which is better water but can be high in iron. Good job!

  • @ShaneZettelmier
    @ShaneZettelmier Год назад +4

    That’s a great set up. One thing I would do is before your Dupont filter I would put an in-line mechanical sediment filter in there. They work pretty good especially with getting the sand and the big stuff out and they’re super easy to clean and there’s nothing to replace and even though you’ve got a ton of filters it would save them. I know a lot of people who do large scale water change systems for aquariums and places where they breed fish and have hundreds of aquariums and they save a ton of filters by using a sediment filter before it and it’s completely mechanical so you just take it off and rinse it out and put it back on and never have to replace any filters it’s right here just a mechanical screen system and get the big particles out before they clog up your replaceable filters. It’s also nice because they usually come with Alfredo around the clock a clear canister so you can see it as it fills up before I.

    Check out the Bosworth Guzzler and similar diaphragm pumps which don't require water to prime. I tee off my shallow well pump to a shutoff valve with a garden hose thread male fitting. I can run any water hose from that but it allows me to connect the Bosworth for priming or power outage use. Next time I'll buy a larger one to play with (their foot operated pumps are popular with boaters). I also stocked my pump house with repair parts and buy water pumps (they are a consumable item) opportunistically. Keep an eye out for blems on sale and for customer returns.

    @highbrass0 Год назад

    Hey Man, that was a great tutorial. Keep up the good work.
    Quick question, was there a reason you settled on a 1HP pump instead of the 1.6HP pumps on Amazon? Seems like a 1.6 would give you a better head depth and not have to work as hard. That might make the pump not pull as much amperage and wattage. That might, I’m really not sure about this, allow you to use a smaller generator. Let me know your thoughts. Keep it up my man. Love seeing Ruger looking all grown up out there too.

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  Год назад

      Yes the reason was for being able to run on smaller solar equipment. I tried to first install a 3/4 hp pump, but it couldn't quite pull against the head. 1 hp works great and is easy enough to run on my portable power stations and generators.

    I know every state is different in those aspects. People say I don't want the government knowing, however if there is ever a reported problem with ground water they can and have sent out reports for those with wells the information. We can't easily test our water for everything. We can send it off for testing. But our state does free testing for well water users every couple of years if they submit the sample.

    Andrew really like the setup. Out of pure curiosity have you looked into the simple pump setups any? If so I'd be interested in your opinion on them.

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  Год назад

      I have not, but I am curious about them as I've seen them on other channels. I need to watch a video on them.

    • @theElderberryFarmer
      @theElderberryFarmer Год назад

      Simple Pumps are very well built! But man oh man, they are costly. It can cost more to buy and install a simple pump than a traditional deep well pump. I was quoted $3k for one. An option is to install the Simple Pump well cap or well seal when you have a deep well pump installed and add the pump later as finances allow.
      Take care and God Bless.

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  Год назад

    If you hang a bucket on the hand pump with a hose coming out the bottom you could prime the electric pump directly with the hand pump

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  Год назад

      Once primed there's no need to ever prime the electric pump again. Occasionally I'll need to set or prime the hand pump to expand the leather seal.

    The lower roof edge over your well seems to be a rather sharp metal edge. It might be wise to either cut it short, bend it, or put some protection over it, otherwise, I see someone hitting and cutting their head.
