    You can pull the center tubing, that has the brush, out of the outer tubing with a pair of needle nose pliers on your Tamiya ExtraThin cement to reach closer to the bottom. Unless you enjoy shaking the bottle 😁

      Good tip! I just now tried your suggestion and pulled the whole stem out, lol, but managed to get the center tube to extend. Thanks so much for the info, I'll be sure to pass that on, I'm sure there are a lot of modelers out there that don't know about this. Thanks so much for watching, take care and model on! Johnny

    Nice model and what a "MacGyver" style hint, on how to hold the decal with two tweezers.

    Your idea of painting on the grommets, instead of fabricating tiny fiddly metal o-rings, and then messing around with ca-glue to stick them on... it's genius!!! Why haven't I thought of it? Mind if I borrow your idea for my next tarp?

    • @hillbillymodeling
      @hillbillymodeling  2 месяца назад +1

      I know Mike, being a genius is quite the burden 🤣just kidding, lol. But I'm happy you think so! In this case of the grommets, I adopted Elon Musks philosophy of "no part is the best part", since at this scale a grommet wouldn't really appear to have contours, I figured paint would do the job. At first, I thought about using a brush to try to paint them on but thought better of it and went with the toothpick, worked pretty well to tell the truth, I'm happy with the result. And yes, you may steal anything you like, except my wallet, I'm going to need that! Take care and have a great weekend buddy!! Johnny

      @@hillbillymodeling LOL, same to you too buddy. I think I'm going to have an exceptionally productive weekend - a few hours ago tried airbrushing for the very first time. And it was AWESOME!!! They say old dogs can't learn new tricks - boy, did I prove them wrong 🙂

    Johnny, how much time do you put into reference for your projects?

    • @hillbillymodeling
      @hillbillymodeling  2 месяца назад

      Good question Christopher, I haven't really thought about it. I just do a google search of "photos of XXXX" and take some screen shots. Then later on in the build I might run into something that I have a question about and so I do another search. So, maybe an hour to collect the reference material. The modelers that amaze me are the ones that look at original photos in black and white and then say that something is really this color or that color! It always gives me a laugh. I only use the photos to determine missing details. You can't rely on museum vehicles either, they often get colors wrong. Thanks for the question, take care and have a great weekend! Johnny
