I miss the original story of WC3 before Shadowlands decided to retcon it into barely being legible. It's what made Wrath so interesting, the connection of it and Frozen Throne.
Shadowlands had potential but making the Jailer The "Guy who was behind everything from the start" was such a stupid ass idea. Literally some edge lords self insert.
@@Mistarpotato The idea was basically dead on arrival in every sense of the word. The idea of traversing the afterlife and not have it break the story of the universe was asinine to begin with. It is a hard enough concept to pull off with competent writers, but to expect that out of the WoW writers? Absolutely no chance it was going to work. I only gave Shadowlands a chance as my last chance for Blizzard to make the game good again after years of not listening to players and the disaster that was Battle for Azeroth, but after a few months in the actual dread started to settle in at how far Blizzard as a company has fallen. Shadowlands broke WarCraft permanently and the fact that they still are referencing this abomination in War Within just goes to show that they have learned nothing.
@@Mistarpotatoand the worst part is that they actually had some cool ideas and designs for quest lines, covenants and etc. some quests were made in a such interesting way that it didn’t feel like repetitive “go collect go kill”. It actually had more depth. The flashbacks of Uther, references to previous WoW events and many more made this entertaining. All Blizzard needed to do is not massacre Arthas and, like you said, not Putting Jailer as the “behind the curtain TRUE villain”. Damn, the entire campaign didn’t have any reason to start at all. If Jailer is THAT powerful, then why the hell does he need to drag Sylvana in the first place. Why the hell does he need to drag the entire force of Azeroth if he already had everything going on smoothly in destroying the covenants?
@@cloke3076 I hate when stories randomly insert the "I WAS BEHIND EVERYTHING THIS WHOLE TIME" on a character that was never even mentioned before AT ALL. Another prime point is Kaguya from Naruto. Just a randomly insert space alien as the villain behind everything. It worked way better with Madara because there was at least some bread crumb references to him here and there and the reveal of Obito pretending to be Madara. The same is true here, we already had the ultimate big bad behind the scenes Sargeras and the burning legion, the old gods, and the void lords (who have still not made an in-game appearance) but instead they insert some fucking edge lord 10 cent villain and made his entire domain look like an affliction T-shirt threw up on it.
Arthas' story is a tragedy. A boy who wanted to avenge his people, committing some crimes but many of them had no way out, then, in his desperation, resorts to a curse with the promise of saving his people, to be deceived after being possessed. Few remember Arthas at his best. Sometimes I think those who focus their hatred on Arthas instead of Ner'zhul and the Cult of the Damned forget that he was another victim. The first of all.
20:30 It's crazy how better you made this Reforged attempt at the Illidan vs. Arthas duel just by editing in music with an artistic vision. Damn. Well done.
I can't even watch this without a huge pit in my stomach because of what they did with Arthas in Shadowlands. There is some irony in there somewhere with them taking the literal soul of his story and throwing it into the maw.
Even though they've made virtually no changes to Reforged (bringing none of the new cinematics and campaigns promised years ago, which they scrapped) and the first two Warcrafts have a graphical upgrade, at least there's something positive about them. They've made me want to play Warcraft 3 again and the great story of Arthas Menethil. Have you bought Battle Chest and played the Scourge campaign of the Frozen Throne again? It's really worth it.
I guess it‘s like wearing differend clothes lol But yeah it would be like coming home as a Emo (But you usually wear sports clothes or church robes lmao)
WHAT!!! are u telling that little add in spanish isnt in the original? In spanish right before Arthas kill king terenas he says "Deja que tus ojos se cierren, ahora que los mios se han abierto" which traslate to "Let your eyes closed, since now mine are open"
Just curious, but was this recorded with 2.0 patch or the earlier one? A lot of people don't like it... Great too see Arthas...Really didn't like his treatment he got in the latest expansions in WoW...
Nah that entire expansion is junk. The lore from it makes no sense and shouldn’t even be considered canon. The smart move would be to pull a Disney and just retcon that entire expansion and cut it out plot wise.
In the early 2000's, Arthas was voted in being in the top 50 best villains in that time.
Not much competition back then. You had Darth Vader/Sidious, Sauron, and who else?
@@placeholdername3818 Are you fucking 12 years old?
@@placeholdername3818 Have you gotten so many others after that...?
For me he is still one of the best villains today
Still is.

Zovaal chillin in The Maw watching Arthas ascend to the Lich King... Everything is going according to MY plan😎
Arthas was a broken hero. He went from saving his people to ending up destroying them.
Hypnotized

Wherever Arthas is right now, I hope Ursoc is keeping him company, as both of their souls have faded away.
@@santiagocampanupton9344 Arthas is 35 anima power now mate
A fallen hero, which is a story old as time.
Reason why Arthas is so overrated.
Man, the Warcraft movie should have been about Arthas.
Greatest villain in Warcraft history! LONG LIVE THE KING!

It's amazing you can see fragments of the old Arthas, such as his friendship with the Lich.
I miss the voices of Arthas and Illidan pre wow

Did no one think to question that their hero was returning clad in death knight armor? Always wondered that

Human Death Knights were not a thing yet, not was his armor. Yes, the wc2 DKs were human bodies, but no human souls. They also dressed differently.
20:23 did they finally add music!?? Or did You add the music
I wonder if it's just me or in the final fight netween Illidan and Arthas (around 20:35 ish), was the part when Arthas smiles cringely removed?
