I had a local pool "instructor" a time ask me what I use to improve my game, as a general question to a learner...I pondered a bit, and my response was, looking at consistent pro players play..& Not only watch the games, but take note (and subconsciously learn) of the pace, shot selection, pattern selection and restraint. His response was, rather, biased and clouded...I am still a learner, as we all are, and only playing since covid, but I beat him every match. Granted, I exercised my right to use safeties to my full potential (realizing his ego) and acknowledging his weaknesses , he had an egotistical view of the game, which in retrospect, made me understand why he had never progressed and is always bitter about every tournament...While I would never undermine the role of a proficient instructor/coach, I always remember something my physics teacher drilled in my head....he said, " Practice does not make perfect....perfect practice does"...take from it what you may, hopefully some would understand what that means...but, thank you Matchroom Pool for these videos and the commentary. You have inspired quite a bit of people to continue the sport...PS, Ruiz is my new fav.
Yep. It's good to put time and effort in practicing but it's better to do so in a way you are learning and actively improving. Once you are a beginner in pretty much everything you need to devote a lot of hours to get keen on something and become better but after a certain point you become stale, if you don't actively try to improve certain parts of the game. Understanding your weaknesses and learning from the best is a good way to do so
Holy hell, I’ve never seen such gratuitous abuse of run on sentences in my entire life.
@@thegodofpez glad to be your first.
@@twellerstudios If nothing else, please take it as honest constructive criticism.
@@thegodofpez definitely.
Please please please start putting dates on all of your videos so people can better grasp the history they're witnessing.
Ruis chalking his cue 3 times every five seconds would’ve cracked me up
Thats his method to call the genie…🫖
FSR is so clean.
Top 1
Wait, when did the colors four and five change?
SVB has Slowed down eh
Not really. FSR is just that good and it wasn’t winner breaks which takes a big part of SVBs game away.
He's gotten better.. not even in his prime yet
Shane woulda taken the match probably, had it been winner breaks. But I sure as heck wouldn't wanna draw F-S-R !
