Still rockin my old 39-2 from time to time, even shot it in a Match a few months ago and got a lot of conversation about it. That was the hot-shit off duty gun back in the day.
.40 S&W Decent.... Had one in early 2k. Think it was an ex fed issue if memory serves. Had "hi cap" LE marked red mags. Good fit as well. Good to see you doing more vids on YT Gabe.
I've traversed the carry universe and started with the 1911, then Glocks or whatever striker-fired plastic thing, and now I just love DA/SA with only a decocker - like Beretta 92 G setup.
Carried a S&W 5926, 4006 & Sig 229 back during the 1990s before going to a dept issue Glock 22. I remember we tried to get a Browning Hi-Power approved, but the admin wouldn't go for it.
Hi Gabe, a very cool gun, one with a department's marks could qualify for ex-ordnance bullseye competitions, the type with slow fire and snap shooting, all one-handed at 25 yards, I never had a chance to try one out though and I don't know what type of accuracy you can expect.
How are you? I hope you are very well. You are an inspiration to me, I watch every video of your channel. I think you are an inspiration name right so I think your videos should be released regularly which inspires me a lot. stay well Weren't you uploading videos to Hi respectable owner of Facebook?
Great gun. Didn't care for the magazine disconnect so went for a Ruger P89....still have it and shoot it. Still wish I had one of these in addition though.
@@suareztactics I was new to guns at the time and didn't realize that was possible. I was also a poor student and the Ruger was the 'quality for the money' pistol. Live and learn. Thanks for your content.

Great Stuff Gabe. Is that two tone the one on your book cover from the 90's? Love that gun. 1st issued gun to me was the 659 and then the 5946 DAO. I have recently gotten one of each plus a 915. Whats your take on the DAO? I put a 16 lb hammer spring in mine and it runs like a machine. Thanks for the great content.
I wish they would, but people say it's impossible due to S&W no longer owning the tooling for them. Luckily, since they're underappreciated the demand for the used guns isn't all that high, and they can be had for reasonable prices.
Do you have info for upgrading the trigger for these guns? I've got several 2nd and 3rd Gen S&W's and would love to update the trash triggers they come with. Thanks in advance!
S&W discontinued them because everybody and their dog thinks that only striker tupperware are any good thanks to tacticool instructors that sells that nonsense. They still have to make some money you know. Luckily J frames still sells well anda continues in production. When I was younger, I tended to buy that crappy cool aide like is 2011 not 1911 and such. Now days I don't care any more what the millennial tacticool guys carry or use and spend my money and carry what I like and enjoy, 1911s, 92s and revolvers.
So you don’t own the SI manufacturing deal anymore. I guess that answers why the website is dry of product. I was looking around and noticed none of the Glock triggers were in stock at all. I liked those triggers. You and Overwatch were the only triggers I use because you 2 were the only ones that offered a NP3 bar that wasn’t messed with (or tuned as they say). I liked yours a bit better because the saftey dingus is longer were the trigger really doesn’t move at all from it’s at rest position. It sits right up to the frame.
Love thirds gens but Dislike the slide safeties , mag disconnect and the current price increases for these. These used to be 2/300$ all day everyday now they are going up!
Theses are some of the best pistols ever made,, in my opinion
"Your Mom gave me this shirt and it wasn't my birthday." You know it's going to be a good video when it starts with that!😂😂

Reminds me of Training Day (2003)... double SW .45 caliber... and the rookie had a Beretta 92fs
My buddy had a real deal ASP that was *sweet.*
Love me some 3rd Gen Smiths.
Love the 4506.
Nice! I threw my 6904 slide on my 5906 frame--gives me a short-slide, steel frame two-tone setup. Shoots great and looks great. Thanks!
I’d definitely watch that Smith TV show. Yep.

forgot to say, but I would carry one of these in a heartbeat - cool guns.

I carry a P320, great gun but so is 3rd gen Smiths and Berettas and Classic Sigs. DA/SA guns rock!
I love these old Smiths!
Nice pistol.

Looks like a 5906 stainless frame with a 5904/5905 blued carbon steel slide. Cool combination.
My second favorite gun. Second to Glock 19
Great looking gun ,beats the hell out of plastic……
That was my first real gun, back in 1991 or so. Great gun, still have it. It is staged in my house with extra mags in case of emergency.
You inspired me to buy one of these classic Smith’s… I found some really nice ones… and then promptly bought another CZ instead
Well..if the CZ was available back then.....

S&W really need to reintroduce the 5900s series.

I’ve read these were built like tanks. Any recommendations for sourcing replacement parts since S&W doesn’t support the gun anymore?
That is a tough one. Best bet is either Numrich or source another one and use it for parts
@@ogdadbod Give Sarco a try for parts, just prep for a possible rabbit hole situation. I hit them for obscure/rare Para parts and mags..

Why is you guide rod sticking out more at the muzzle end?
@@andrewdo9722 there was a company that had ball bearing suspended in mercury in the guide rod. Was supposed to lessen muzzle flip.
😂. Salmon.
