Hammer Management On TDA Pistols
The Double Action Pistol seems to be making a comeback. I have been running one as EDC for five years now. Properly operated it gives nothing up to single action or striker fired pistols. This is how to manage one best.

Gunfighting Skills - Ammunition Management

Running out of ammo is bad, having to drop magazines during a reload in a fight is bad. Best practice, your pistol is never out of ammo and your slide is never locked back. Much you can do to facilitate that situation. Watch. Support us on Patreon - www.patreon.com/suareztactics

Its not about speed, it is about timing and initiative. The speed draw is not as important as most think. THE PRESS CHECK
Просмотров 3,6 тыс.28 дней назад
Even in the age of loaded chamber indicators, all professionals visually and tactilely check the chamber for a round. Relying on a loaded chamber indicator is not sufficient...and the lazy way. Thoughts On Sport Shooting vs Gunfighting
Просмотров 3,4 тыс.Месяц назад
This was originally published on my Patreon page - patreon.com/suareztactics When the sport becomes the focus, street efficiency is sacrificed. I am not the only only that believes that, but I am actually saying it. Any combat system that is sporterized loses much of its combat efficiency. Some people don't care about that, and that is fine...but those who do, might benefit from knowing that. R...

Smoothness and deception.
Only problem: appendix carry. Would be nice to see this concept applied to 4 o’clock
Perhaps consider crossdraw...
Good luck. I don't do 4:00 because that draw is almost impossible that way. Appendix is not a problem...people that fear appendix are the problem. Justsaying
@@suareztactics I understand. I have “Dunlops disease” which makes appendix pretty uncomfortable
@@TClark-rs1dv there’s an idea. Thanks.
@@Mrblueridgeman I get it brother...but I will tell you this. I promote fitness and health far more than shooting and tactics. If you like, shoot me an email and I will give you a brief but effective plan to fix that issue.
It’s the optics screws. It’s always the optics that cause malfunctions
Thank you I have done that it was natural for me. Do it with all SA/DA I own
What size screw on the eject side?
Mine is the same regardless of screws being present or not. Plus I’ve had a bunch of other issues like the trigger not resetting and the slide randomly locking itself open on the second to last round. Either way, if you redesign a gun around mounting an optic and mounting an optic can make the gun malfunction like a son of a bitch, that’s a fundamental problem that needs addressed and shouldn’t be pawned off to the end user EDIT: I bought a Glock 19 to replace it
I will buy it from you...give you a great price...not kidding!!
@ is there a place I can reach out to you to discuss further?

Excellent video and so on point!!!
Great topic
This is how the issues are handled well! Do not invent the wheel! Fix it and move on. Thanks!
Exactly.
Good video thanks. CZ makes wonderful blasters thanks for showing the off!
I would love to see videos with older steel CZ-75... or some Belgian SA BROWNING Hi-Power... MAKAROV and the GLOCK gen.2 (way before MIM-parts) ur S&W old DA pistol may look outdated.. but are effective and the quality build into them... BUILD QUALITY - think of old German Mercedes S-class w126
Let me see what I can do
Fine motor skills... merits of the Double Action ... reminds me of Merits of Manual Transmission.. U will develop SKILLS Makes u a Better DRIVER... and with that Single Action crisp trigger... one can make a precise shot when it counts... the attitude --- is to provide for the most effective techniques against well equipped and also skilled (near pear) advesaries..
Yes. Way too many trainers focus on the least common denominator. I'd rather focus on the highest end skill sets possible. When I was on the job, none of my "contacts" turned out to be lowest common denominator thugs. Many had been blooded several times and were better at killing than many of the officers I worked with. One was a combat veteran that went on a shooting spree. So yes...provide for the most effective techniques against well equipped and also skilled (better than pear) adversaries
Nice setup! Did you build the upper yourself or did you buy it complete? If you bought it complete, what vendor did you get it from? Thanks!
Great video as always. What are your thoughts on the CZ Shadow 2 Compact? I have no problem manually decocking. Some people complain about the lack of a firing pin safety on the pistol but as long as it’s carried at the half cock notch and not modified with a longer firing pin or lighter spring I believe it’s a perfectly safe pistol to carry. Your thoughts?
@@chrisragone8785 I dont think the lack of a firing pin block ia an issue. In fact...I wish other pistols didnt have it. What I didnt like on the S2C is the poor design of the optic cut
In my case quoting Inspector Harry Callahan I have to know my own limitations and I will have to do a bit of training or retraining myself on decocking the CZ compact nocturne, On revolver and 1911 one must put their finger on the trigger to drop the hammer and I continually have found myself even while using the decocking lever to be putting my fingers inside the trigger guard. To stop this means more training. This means undoing a long life time (~60 years) of using the trigger to drop the hammer as an ingrained response. By the way when using the decocking lever I still point in a safe place. Decocking lever guns, even older Czech guns, have fired due to defective drop safeties with the CZ52 coming to mind. On the glock I have the tau safety device on the slide back plate and when holstering one puts their thumb on it to push forward. Such pressure puts forward pressure preventing the trigger if it gets caught while reholstering from coming back to fire the gun. I will train myself to put the thumb on the quarter cocked CZ hammer to achieve the same thing when re-holstering.
Are the "hammer back not safe" people the same cohort giving GunTubers grief for not showing a firearm is clear while the camera is rolling? Do we have a Harris-Venn Diagram for these demographics to see how they overlap?
Best to the point guy on this internet
I appreciate you taking on the practical application of the gun safety rules which have been taken out of context for years, like muzzle control/sweeping. A suggested topic is covering what to expect when taking a class with hot range rules vice cold range.
Thanks Gabe!
Love your content on DA/SA pistols, and your common sense, no B.S. attitude. I have multiple Glock, S&W, Canik, striker fired pistols and haven't put more than four mags through any of them. Today I started cleaning them to sell. Looking forward to sending my P-01 and P-07 to Suarez International for an optic cut. RockOn.
Thank you Gabe!
P09F nocturne is the first handgun I bought in a few years, decided to get a holosun 407k and it came with 2 sets of screws, I went with the shorter ones as they matched the ones holding in the plate cover and have ran over a 1000 rounds with 0 issues so far. love the thing.
A treat to see this every now & then...
Primary machine in Louisiana probably has threaded barrels for the 07 or nocturn
Nope. Perpetually out of stock,
@suareztactics I'm looking at them right now czp07 po9 C Nocturne match grade threaded barrel 264.99$.. black , gold , or gun metal grey.

@suareztactics bruh , in stock 07 09c nocturn slide your mouse down one more row. Lol
2:34: "This is for killing." No it is for **stopping** a threat. Any death is incidental. In a self defense situation, NEVER tell the cops your intent was to "kill," because that word WILL be used against you in court. Your intent was to STOP the threat.
And like I say to all the Liabity Fear Mongers...SHOW ME THE CASE WHERE THAT WAS AN ISSUE IN AND OF ITSELF. A case number and court will suffice.

Because of you i bought that pistol and im going to put cajun kit in mine.
Nice video, thanks! I’m an iron sites guy, so this is good news for me. I just purchased the P09C today, haven’t shot it yet. I intend on this being my EDC. My LTT PX4 Storm Carry is my nightstand gun, and it’s a great shooter. Any opinions on yet he stock trigger versus a cajunized set up? Is the improvement worth the $450?
if youve still got that p01 frame i want it
If you aren't looking to use it to carry, would you suggest the C of F? I'm leaning towards the F, but not sure yet.
@@intriguedviewer501 i carry both. The F is easier to shoot
Thanks!! I had been standoffish about purchasing the P-09C after having watched videos about the pistol. The one thing the videos all had in common was that the guys making the videos had all installed optics before testing. I was beginning to wonder if there was some discrepancy with the optic making the slide off balance or some such. Last night, I found your channel for the first time. Thanks so much for clarifying the actual problem. I will go forward confidently with the purchase of a pistol from a brand I really trust.
Oh come on... its not that bad! I prefer it to a Timney. But... "more complicated than a 16 year old red headed cheerleader"...... epic!!!! Coffee came out through my nose!
I carry a 38 or 357 revolver always, depending on where i am. 3 inch on the 357, and snubby on the 38.
Most guns I see that malfunction due so because of those optics, but people blame the guns.
you gave some major knowledge my man. I was having the same malfunctions on my glock 43x Mos.. Called glock and the Technician gave me the same advise.. So I took the right screw and dremeled it down.. Malfunctions went away and glock ran flawlessly.
I carry a Glock 21 another mag. In the winter i have a j in the jacket pocket. And yeah i lke speed strips.aswell. so between the 21 and a j yes it works for me. I am 5'9" 160 maybe. I have no prblem at all with 21 concealed. I carry it iwb . And no i don't do appendix. There is a place for the j. To me there better than micro 380. And yes you did it ,now i am thinking of a walther or sig p 230.
For carry maybe. But for competition shooters. Sa or sa/da are kings. And just like our automotive makers knew about with nascar. Win a match on sunday (race) sell guns on monday
IDK...i carry the P09C daily...and I dont do gun sports.
Can anybody put a link for the small EPS screws?

What are the measurements for the shorter right screw? (Example: M6 x 6mm)
I used the stock provided Holosun 507K 9.4mm? ( approx) and no issues whatsoever with FTE....will polish my feed ramp and when my CGW stuff comes in Ill drop the main spring, striker spring, striker and trigger reset spring in and be done...another good video from Gabe! I had the same issue with a direct mount custom Glock build and as soon as I used a shorter screw on the right side no problems with FTE
You’re like a tactical Joe Rogan
@@JoseMaldonado-wx7xh 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Outlaw guy is a clown. You can’t review anything after you personally modify it and then blame the gun. I’ve got the nocturne myself and you can feel the exact moment when the screw bottoms out. Anyone with a brain and the slightest mechanical disposition could feel it as well. That dude always has to throw crap on his guns for looks and cool factor.
I would say appendix isn't the best way to carry and at times 3 o'clock is better for close quarter encounters.3 o'clock allow me to pivot away on a draw and strong arm push off the attacker. Appendix could be a trap if someone is closing distance from the front. Not saying appendix is bad. I use it sometimes, I just don't agree it is best in a wrestling contact situation where someone has an arm, and you have to grab a weapon from your crotch.3 o clock gives me a pivot to keep my weapon away and a free arm to push off. Attacks today are no different that attacks of yesterday. All that bullshit about "modern" tactics and fighting is just that. Bullshit. Define modern. Men have been fighting since they crawled out of the cave. Thanks for the thought-provoking talk. As you can see, I don't always agree. But appreciate your content.
Lol
Solid stuff! By the way, I just watched a video of a guy showing of one of your old TSD Bowies, that was a serious piece!
I miss those days. Idea to production and sales in less than a month.
I would add that most shooters should practice or have at least and understanding of point shooting/instinctive shooting without using sights. Too be honest and no bullshit, your assailant is not going to present a stationary target at ideal range for you to do sight or dot alignment and let you obtain the proper stance either. It very well come from somebody grabbing you from behind and at close quarters. Nobody teaches the value of instinctive shooting tech as the emphasis is sight optics and use of visual optic aids. There is also a trend towards mag dumps which is ammo wasting in its pure form.
Ahum...we teach all that stuff...
@@suareztactics Most of them seen on RUclips preaching training vids don't seem to mention it. Some even make fun of it as not being "modern" and there is also a very big trend towards optics on all platforms no matter how useless, ridiculous and unrealistic the practice is for a real-world situation. Chances are you are not going to get the perfect press out to shoot stance or grip or mag switch. I think I've seen a couple in videos teaching draw, hip shooting or telling the trainee not to use sights. I think Rob Leatham actually did a video but that maybe it. Thanks for you reply and video.
@@williamryan9195 I'm a 17 year trainer and ditto on optics and gimmicks on guns, it's nothing but marketing and from a self-defensive stance, it's close, fast and over before you can even think about it. A 44 year study on home invasions by Robert Waters noted that 'sights were hardly used, you were focused on the threat". Close quarters combat ready is the drawn gun pressed against your rib cage with your thumb in between while canting it out a little bit for clearance as the muzzle is forward and, RIGHT THEN I can fire and I will be! Be Safe and Stay in Condition Yellow.
My ‘74 gunfight w/three armed robbery suspects was w/my issued Colt Detective Special and I emptied it twice before it was over w/one suspect dead, one surrendered on scene & the third arrested the following day at a local hospital seeking treatment for a GSW. Things went down so fast all I had time to do was shoot back, reload and keep shooting until I was out of ammo. In retirement I carry a light J Frame & one speedstrip b/c I’m an old man & my orbits are pretty tame.
Thank you for sharing.
Did you have speed loaders already or just those drop pouches? Reloading under actual high stress must be interesting.
In '74 it was loose rounds out of a drop pouch or a pocket for most of us. No speedloaders and no speed strips yet. Maybe Oldcop's experiences were different? Thrilled he was able to fight through and survive.
@ It was pure dumb luck but I did have an unauthorized speedloader in my jacket pocket so I was reloaded and back in the fight fast.
