Do pan pastels have oil in them? They look like they might be smooth and creamy with a certain type of oil in them?
I'm tempted to try them.
* Lisa... I have a very serious problem with color contrasts... lights verses darks... I can't seam to stop painting a BARN!! ... I guess my thinking is stuck on keeping EVERY THING smoothed out & even. I DO REALIZE my problem, but I can't seam to change my thinking more to a TRUE ARTIST mind set.
I can't seam to finish my LARGE double portrait that I really NEED to get done!!

LOL yes, as you can see they are wild beasts who must be watched all the time hahahaha. I'm not sure if the pan pastels have oil in them, but it almost feels like it in that they're not chalky feeling like regular pastels. For the barn I have no idea how to help. Maybe post a photo in our facebook or mewe group and ask the artists what they suggest? I don't suggest trying to keep everything smooth though, that would look pretty unnatural :)
@@Lachri thank you Lisa for a response concerning my large unfinished double portrait. But I guess this is something that I must keep struggling to figure out for myself.
That BARN expression was just an exaggeration of my "personal" problem as an artist... ha!! 😂

Can you paint the paper black with intense pencils
You can, but then the colored pencil won't stick very well to it.
