How to Make: The South's Best Chocolate Pound Cake

- This chocolate pound cake compares to none other! It was one of the first recipes featured on our New South Table blog in 2017 and for good reason....it is famous around here! This cake is loaded with chocolate syrup, so it is decadent, dense and ever so moist.
This recipe was originally submitted by Mrs. P. Tarlton and Mrs. L. Watson in the Our Country Kitchen Favorites Cookbook from Deep Creek Baptist Church in 1983.

Ingredients:
2 sticks margarine (I use Land O Lakes)
2/3 cup shortening
3 cups all purpose flour
3 cups sugar
6 medium eggs
1 cup evaporated milk
1 large can Hershey's syrup
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla

Can you use BUTTER instead of margarine.

Don’t use margarine ever
Use margarine. Butter in pound cakes makes them very dry unless u add 1/2 of shortening. Try it. You will like it 😂😂😂
@@Allenmassageguy I won’t have a stick of margarine in my house, haven’t in over 50 years. My pound cake are never dry because I cream for eight minutes. Just my way and each their own!!
