  • If you run your mini excavator with the tracks too loose, you run the risk of having it come off. This can stretch, tear, or otherwise damage the tracks, resulting in expensive repairs. Fortunately, it is easy to check and adjust the tension of the tracks. This video shows a great way to do it. This particular video demonstrates the procedure on an AGT LH12R mini excavator, but the process may be similar on other mini excavators with the screw style track adjustment.

    I bought the same excavator about a week ago and didn't think much about getting it on the trailer, then I saw you almost go over backwards. I have to tell you it took me a long time to get the unit off the trailer. I since then have added fan to help cool the engine compartment. After watching this video I am going to spend some time checking the bolts. Nice videos so I'm a new subscriber.

      Welcome to the channel. These things are a lot of fun, and they save a lot of wear and tear on our backs. Having
      learned how easily they tip, it's a lot easier to stay safe.

    Glad you were able to make those adjustments quickly! Throwing a track out in the woods would have been a bummer.

      Yeah. That will be a bummer if that happens. Hopefully, I can avoid it by keeping a close eye on the tension.

    I dont know if there are lock washers under the nut, but if there isnt you should get some or/and nylock nuts. If you do that they wont come loose so easy by vibrations.

      I have lock washers on the way. Gave up trying to find them locally and ordered a set. This unit didn't even have the nuts on the tensioners when I bought it, new.

    When you adjust tracks you measure the slack at the bottom it should be about an inch or 2 fingers

    Looks like a pretty easy adjustment once you have the right tools...

    On the big nut for the tracks just my opinion put a locking washer on and not worry about track coming lose and coming off.

      Yes, lock washers would probably be another good thing to add. It didn't even have the nuts when I bought it new.

    Does yours have the Briggs and Stratton?

    • @thePFOchannel
      @thePFOchannel  17 дней назад

      No, it does not. I noticed in the auction listing that it was not the B&S engine, and since bringing it home, I have been unable to find any markings at all to identify the brand of engine. Some have said that the R on the model number, LH12R, indicates it is a Rato engine. I don't know if that is true.

    You will also start hearing a clicking sound before it comes off

      That sounds like the voice of experience! If I am very lucky, I will never have to hear that particular clicking.
