It isn't random - It's us doing us!
Welcome to the PFO channel, I'm Jim. Pinnacle Falls Outdoors is way more than just outdoor adventures. My wife, Renee, and I are finding no end of ways to enjoy retirement. Outdoors is a prevalent theme for our videos, but we also share adventures related to the many DIY projects and things that keep us busy around our homestead; the many places we love to visit; and the fun stuff we find to do. We'll be moving dirt, cutting wood, sawing logs, making maple syrup, improving our home, repairing and upgrading equipment, as well as fly fishing, camping, off-roading, travel trailer camping, boondocking, wildlife viewing, kayaking, e-Biking, hiking, birding, etc.. Come along and see what that "etc." turns out to be.
We're glad you're here!

Mini Excavator Most Important Upgrade
How do you avoid getting thrown off a mini excavator? Well, if yours is like mine, it didn’t come with a seat belt! I think that was a huge mistake on the part of the manufacturer. Fortunately it is easy to fix. This video shows the fast and easy way that I installed a seat belt on my mini excavator. I am not a seatbelt expert and this installation may not result in a sufficiently safe machine, but I think it is better than nothing. Your results may vary.

How to Install a Voltmeter on a Mini Excavator
Просмотров 34321 час назад
How do you know if the electrical accessories on your mini excavator are draining your battery? Many of the popular upgrades to a mini excavator, such as additional 12 Volt cooling fans, need power from your battery. The alternator under the flywheel of your engine can only supply so much current. If you don’t have a voltmeter on your dash, then your battery may be slowly getting drained withou...
Grilling Steaks in the Winter and feeding one of the local birds

Not every day needs to be hard work around here! We sometimes take a little time out from the many projects going on around the PFO Homestead. Today, even though there is snow on the ground, we decided to grill some steaks. One of our friendly Red-breasted Nuthatches saw me out on the deck and stopped by to ask me if I had any peanuts. Of course I did! CREDITS: "Subscribe Button" by MrNumber112...
How to install a winter cover on a travel trailer
Просмотров 14421 день назад
Why store your travel trailer inside for the winter? How hard is it to install a winter cover on a travel trailer? How many people does it take? We have always stored our travel trailer inside the PFO Workshop until this season. There are just too many projects planned for inside the workshop this winter, so the travel trailer has to spend the winter outside. This is our first time, ever, to bu...
How to install a Digital Hour Meter, Tachometer, Engine Temperature Gauge on a Mini Excavator
Просмотров 515Месяц назад
The factory installed hour meter on our AGT LH12R mini excavator stopped working. I took the opportunity to upgrade to a Runleader brand digital multifunctional meter that reads engine speed, temperature, and run hours. The installation wasn’t without difficulties. The original device I ordered from Amazon would not power on. The story has a happy ending, though. Watch the video to see what hap...

The Sig Sauer Zulu6 Image Stabilized Binoculars in 16x42mm are a real game changer! I was thinking of downgrading from my old 12x35 binoculars to a 10x because my hands aren't as steady as they used to be. The magnification not only magnifies the image, but also any movement, whether it be from hand movement or wind buffeting. When I discovered this exciting bit of technology, it allowed me to ...

How to Make a Custom 30 Amp RV Cord to use an Eco Flow Delta Pro inside a Travel Trailer
Просмотров 6912 месяца назад
It’s time for a much needed upgrade to our 30 amp boondocking power system that features an Eco Flow Delta Pro power bank. We installed wiring circuits and an automatic transfer switch inside our travel trailer, so we can have our Delta Pro safely inside the storage compartment, from where it can power all of the RV circuits without running a power cord outside the trailer. How to Add 33% Capacity to your EcoFlow Delta Pro for More Boondocking Power!
Просмотров 5962 месяца назад
We do a lot of boondocking in our travel trailer. Usually it isd on our way to and from a destination where we will have shore power. So we usually only need the EcoFlow Delta Pro to power the refrigerator for an overnight stay. Then, the next day, we are back on the road. The 3,600 Watt Hours from the Delta Pro are more than enough for that task. We have a trip coming up, though, where we will...

How to fix a travel trailer built-in microwave that has rattled loose

It's a Tonka toy what ya expect
Shudda bought a real excavator something with some weight it wouldn't bounce so much
Does your unit freewheel going downhill?
Mine came with a seatbelt but this looks like a great upgrade. It won’t flop around when I flip the seat up.
Your jacket to fleece change reminded me of Mr. Roger’s sweater intro, and I was kind of hoping you’d also toss your shoe to the other hand. 😂 Great video!
Haha. I wondered if anyone would catch that.
For those watching and thinking about buying one - The arrows at the tracks state which way is forward/fast/high. By him backing up in high speed, the rapid deceleration caused the near catastrophe.
Interesting theory. Thanks for watching.
It is better to wire the transfer switch as the EcoFlow being “Shore Power”. That way the ecoflow isn’t having to keep the transfer switch solenoid energized. It draws a few amps and that adds up while boondocking.
Maybe, but I am only interested in installing electrical components according to the manufacturers instructions.
@@thePFOchannel In that case you should have mounted the transfer switch on the back of the WFCO power box. That is it’s designed location. Secondly, The EcoFlow uses a floating neutral while unplugged from mains power. You have no neutral bond or ground protection.
My Himiway step thru cruiser comes day after tomorrow! Just in time for warmer and dryer weather.
Awesome! We think you'll love it.
Kinda shocked it didn't come with a seat belt. But this is a nice/easy/cheap fix.
I'm not sure what they were thinking there, but yes, at least it's an easy remedy.
I'd get one with the ram on the top of the boom
Yeah, those hold up pretty well if you're moving a lot of big rocks.
Not sure about rodeo bull. Maybe a pony.
Maybe. I was watching this guy here, which made me decide on the bull analogy. facebook.com/share/1DkhdbqXaR/
@@thePFOchannelOUCH. Glad you’ll be able to avoid that!
Great idea and you woke up my Alexa!!!!
Oops! Sorry about that. I hope it doesn't turn on anybody's barn heater!
Cool upgrade! Super easy install too!
Yes, it's the easiest upgrade I've done to it, so far.
I was just wondering why you didn't go for the pilot control model what's a dual pump in boom swing was it that much more in price
The pilot control models were going for higher prices at the auctions I had been watching, and I decided those features didn't add any functionality that I really need for the things I plan to do with it.
Great video for someone just looking into it. I do have to complain that I had to watch between 12 and 14 commercials. They weren't long but it's really annoying to have that many interruptions. Sure that's not your fault but just letting you know
Thanks, but wow, that's a lot of commercials.
When you're taking excavator off trailer it would be best to spin boom around and put bucket on or close to ground and will never flip over
Thanks for the tip.
You did an absolutely beautiful job sir…I LOVE this greenhouse! 🤍 Especially your choice of staining your log beams white, it really completes the whole antique look. It’s by far the prettiest, DIY repurposed window greenhouses I’ve stumbled across.
Thank you! We are really happy with the way it turned out. It has become the favorite place for all of our family get- togethers.
I've got my voltmeter along with a Runleader inductive hour meter waiting to be installed. Thanks for the video. My mini-ex is out in the Michigan cold. I wish I had a nice work space like yours. My mods will wait for the spring thaw at this point. <eep the videos coming!
Cool. It's a pair of worthwhile updrages, for sure. Pretty easy, as well, unless your fingers are frozen! Thanks for watching.
Now you can tell if you have the juice to add that stereo and subwoofers...
Yes. Now I can tell!
Just stay away from NUOMAN, and all the other brands are within standard
I've never run across that brand. It sounds like there's a story there?
You actually looked at the instruction manual?! Isn't that like.... Cheating? 😂
LOL Yeah, I thought about editing out that moment of weakness.
Where did you find the hitch?
There's an Amazon link to the Ultra-Fab hitch receiver, and the e-bike rack, in the description below this video. (As an Amazon Associate, I earn a small commission on sales from these links. There is no added cost to you.) Thanks for watching!
One maintenance step I do with my lawn equipment is run ethanol free gas and mix in some Lucas upper cylinder lubricant in the gas. Both help the engine run a little cooler not having the alcohol. Obviously ethanol gas attracts water and wrecks the carb over time. Also keep a battery tender plug into that battery when not in use. Maybe Fluid film any bare metal areas to discourage moisture. Are you able to locate any spare track belts should the need arise? I’m a believer in spare parts as supply issues always arise.
Thanks for the tips. I do have a link saved for the tracks. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to get a spare set ordered.
I covered the wires with Rat tape, bought it from Honda dealer. Works great, rodents left my Camry alone.
Thanks for the tip! I'll have to look into that rat tape.
Word of advice, when loading and unloading, turn the machine and extend the arm and lower it in the direction you’re going on or off a trailer. If you do have a jerking maneuver like in this video, the arm will likely stop you from tipping over. It’s the safest way to load or unload these machines. Also, when shut off, operate all the levers to release the pressure on the rams. Your seals will thank you for it. Never leave the arm up in the air for long periods of time.
Thanks for the advice, and thanks for watching!
👍👍Excellent advice.
Glad you think so!
Excellent!!!
Thanks for watching!
Great video all the newbies should watch it. Well done!
Thank you, and thanks for watching.
Some nice looking steaks...
They were tasty!
When you plug into shore and you have the Delta Pro plugged into the 12v does it charge up the extra battery as well while charging the Delta Pro?
Thanks for the question. First, to clarify, when we are plugged into shore power, we recharge the Delta Pro from the 120 Volt AC circuit, which I added into the storage compartment. So, the Delta Pro is not being recharged via 12 Volt. As for the extra battery, it does not gain a recharge from the Delta Pro when it is wired into the XT60i port marked "solar/car input" on the back of the Delta Pro. I just checked this with a voltmeter to confirm, and that XT60i port is not hot when the Delta Pro is plugged into shore power. It is apparently managed as "input only" by the Delta Pro controller. To recharge the extra battery, I choose to plug it into a small, LiFePO4 compatible battery charger, also running off the 120 Volt shore power. Alternately, I suppose I could recharge the extra battery from the output side of the Delta Pro, but that would slow the overall charge time for the pair and seems like unnecessary wear and tear on the Delta Pro.
Looks like a great replacement. Probably should have added something like this to my mower as there wasn't an hour meter.
Yeah, I thought the same thing, but my mower is 25 years old, so it's probably past the point of upgrades.
You almost tipped it over because you didn't have your bucket in front of you when you were unloading from a trailer. Not brilliant and not rocket surgery. That's something I laughed at when somebody told me that was the way I was supposed to unload. I saw that as Darwinism at work. You don't need contact with the ground. You just need it to be close enough to the ground to keep you from going head over teakettle.
Yeah, that rocket surgery is a bugger. Thanks for watching.
I just cut a bigger hole to open back door in my 2007 with my whole hand lol Thanks for the vid sir.
That would also work, for sure! Thanks for watching.
Got a barebones used Leprechaun RV that doesn't even have an inverter or transfer switch; the Onan genny outlet is in the shore power cable compartment and I stay "plugged in" that way unless I'm on shore power. House batteries just power 12vDC stuff only so I've gone through and wired up a bunch of 12v outlets all over and have gotten good at using appliances geared towards truckers and mobile contractors that don't have 110vAC around. But you hit me with the AC/Coffee feels... Looks like I'm gonna be doing this come spring time! Looks way easier than the complete component DIY setups I see.
Yeah, the Delta Pro is as close to a plug and play power option as I have seen. I also considered piecing a system together with separate components, but this proved to be way easier.
Might need to start earlier next year; you almost ran out of daylight! Glad it's tucked in well and at a place that doesn't charge you a ton of money! 😂
We were definitely cutting it close. We waited too late in the year and too late in the day. But, yes, it is nice not to need to pay a storage fee.
hi there, you should always have the blade down in front of you when digging less stress on the swing ring gear. cheers adrian from the UK.
Thanks for the info
😮 Will you appreciate
You bet!
IF you can, use only non ethanol fuel and add one ounce of penzoil two stroke oil to every 5 gallons of Gasoline. This will live your engine eternal life.
Thanks for the tip!
Great video- thank you so much for taking the time to post this!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching.

Lines running inside channels can wear and blow holes if not done right... While running outside its far more obvious.
Yep, no doubt. That's probably why they also have the shielding.
Yep, by far the best info on purchasing a mini excavator. Thank you for making the video. Great info.
You're welcome! I'm glad it was helpful.
I was lucky enough to buy a takeuchi tbo16 at a auction with 1200 hours very happy with it. 1.5 ton. Parts easy to get. Chinese is junk hard to parts, unstable ,poor resale.

@thePFOchannel Thank You
I went with down 20 degree hammock and a light quilt toast warm at 28 degrees in Washington state.
Nice! It sounds like you have a good kit put together. I'm looking forward to our first good snowstorm this winter.
Perfect timing! I just got my mini-ex from an auction site and in the sales videos show the hours at 0.6. Someone obviously looked at the excavator at the auction site and left the power shut off switching the on position. I ended up picking it up with a dead battery and an hour meter showing 14.7 hours. For me, it makes sense to use an induction hour meter that only counts hours of actual engine run-time. I also could not find a round drop-in replacement inductive hour meter. I'll probably get this Runleader gauge and swap a drop-in 2" round voltmeter to replace the original hour meter. Your videos are informative and much appreciated!
That's a great idea to fill the 2" hole with a volt meter. Thank! I think I'll do that, too.
That will be a handy thing to have! Glad to see the company working hard to make happy customers too!
We agree! I suppose the tough part, though, would be knowing which version you'd receive if you were to order one now. Both boxes had the same model number, so there's no telling how much of the old inventory is in the market.
That is a screaming deal!!! Thanks for the video
I was pretty happy with it!
I have considered getting an FJ Cruiser. I thought about the short space in the back. I'm 6'4. Then I realized that I rarely ever stretch out when I sleep. I can easily knock off almost 8 inches from my curled up sleeping position. That's definitely something to think about
I'm the opposite. I have to be able to stretch out straight, or I'll get claustrophobic. There is just enough space to stretch my legs. I wouldn't want to sleep back there for a week, but a couple of nights are no problem at all.
After seeing the short clip I thought poorly about the whole thing. Now after watching the full videos I now understand your carefully thought out plans. I purchased the same thing $3450 delivered. And then I purchased a heavy duty dual axel trailer to transport it and 3000 lb ramps to get it on and off.
Enjoy your new purchase, and be safe! A heavier trailer is definitely a good idea. If I had any plans of using this unit at other sites, that would be on my must-have list, too.
