      The Yassa was the greatest mongol document. The Yassa, which is thought to be written in the Uighur Mongolian script and written on scrolls, was preserved in secret archives and known only to and read only by the royal family.
      Apparently Uighur Mongolian script was from from the Aramaic script that went a lot of different hands before becoming the Mongolian script
      The term "Old Uyghur" used for this alphabet is misleading because Qocho, the Tocharian-Uyghur kingdom created in 843, originally used the Old Turkic alphabet. The Uyghur adopted this "Old Uyghur" script from local inhabitants when they migrated into Turfan after 840.[2] It was an adaptation of the Aramaic alphabet used for texts with Buddhist, Manichaean and Christian content for 700-800 years in Turpan. The last known manuscripts are dated to the 18th century. This was the prototype for the Mongolian and Manchu alphabets. The Old Uyghur alphabet was brought to Mongolia by Tata-tonga.
      Tǎtǎ-tǒng'ā) was a Uyghur man involved in bringing and adapting the Old Uyghur alphabet to the Mongolian Plateau in the form of the Mongolian script (Mongol bichig or hudum bichig).[1] He was captured by Genghis Khan in the 13th century and soon taught the Old Uyghur alphabet to members of the court and adapted it to Khalkha Mongolian,[citation needed] although Genghis Khan himself never learned it.
      The Uyghur script was used until 1946, when Cyrillic script was introduced to replace it. It is still used mainly in Inner Mongolia, China. In present-day Mongolia, Cyrillic is the official script for the Mongolian language and the traditional script is referred to as the Old Mongol script (Mongolian: Хуучин монгол бичиг). Today, an estimated six million Mongol people in China can still read the traditional Mongolian script.
      The Manchu alphabet was derived since the very end of the 16th century from this Mongolian script.

    Turkic and Turkish can't be used interchangeably as you do in this video. Turkish is the most spoken of the Turkic language family today and is spoken in modern day Anatolia. Babur spoke what historians call "Chagatai Turkic" which was a precursor to modern day Uzbek, though he'd also been fluent in Farsi.

    • @NadeemMohsin
      @NadeemMohsin 2 года назад +11

      @@senaeco This isn't strictly true. Hindi/Urdu certainly has a ton of loanwords from Turkic languages, but that's the extent of it. Even in that department the Turkic loanwords are outdone by Farsi, which contributed many more.
      To be a proper precursor, Chagatai would have to have passed on fundamental structures and grammar. In Hindi these are very obviously from the Indo-Iranian family. Nearly every major Turkic feature is missing from Hindi. For example, one of the key features of Turkic languages is agglutination, which is entirely missing in Hindi, where inflection is used instead.
      This is vastly different from Uzbek, which is a true descendant of Chagatai Turkic and carries most of its features.

      Historical fiction is not a good way to learn history, If you want an academic work on Babur, read Stephen Frederick Dale's "The Garden of the Eight Paradises: Babur and the Culture of Empire in Central Asia, Afghanistan and India", it's a 500 page single volume biography of our favourite warlord. If reading this feels like too much info dump for you, Dale published an abridged version of this long work called "Babur: Timurid Prince and Mughal Emperor [1483-1530]", which is around 200 pages.

      if you mean with India so, in India, mostly non-Muslims (especially Hindu) never had any problem with Mughal rulers from their religious point of view. Unlike the Delhi sultanate, Mughal was very tolerated toward their religious diversity within the emperor. That's why there is no religious conflict is recorded under the Mughal regime. Those Sikh guru was mascaraed by Aurangzeb, because they were guilty of treason. Aurangzeb was very strike rulers. He didn't even spare Muslim Sufi saint and hanged them, for their poem saying Al Haq (I am the truth). Otherwise
      religious diversity and tolerance of Mughals was revolutionary at the time. One iconic example is it, in the freedom struggle of 1857 when the many Hindu kings got united and declared bahadur shah Jaffar ( last Mughals) as their kings. Why would Hindu rulers declare Muslims as their kings? this shows the vast acceptance of Mughals within the Hindu community then.
      So where does the stories of mascaraing Hindus and Sikh came? It was fabrication and adulteration of history by Britishers so that they can make divide among communities.

I thought "Turkish" is only meant to refer to Turkey Turkish, that of the Ottomans and the modern Republic in the Oghuz branch. I was confused on this before and a few people I know from Turkey told me just labeling everything Turkic "Turkish" inadvertently appeals to Turanist Pan-Nationalists in Turkey. And the same goes for calling Turkic peoples "X Turks" instead of just "X". It would be like saying someone in England's family that speaks English is speaking German.
    If it's historically accurate to say Turkish as that's what it was referred to at the time or you have knowledge to the contrary it's a different case, of course.
