As a rat owner I love seeing others setups. I am always looking for new ideas for my rats cage becuase is nice to give them new things to explore and interact with. I would love to see a series with these videos. Also great to hear advice on cages so that others rats have the best of life. 😁🐀🐾
Little Paws 18120 Oml!!! Are you from America??? If so- hobby lobby!!! It’s a craft store in America. They have LOADS of cardboard- ceramic - plastic stuff PERFECT for small animal use.
Tip for anyone and rat cages, we all know running balls are horrible for them, i got two large ones at my shelter for free, i took off the two lids on each and i zip tie one open end to a wall of the cage and fill it with fleece for a nice large bed thats easy to get in and out plus provides some shelter to make them comfortable
SpiritAsmodeus Funny how they’re seen as bad in the rat 🐀 world. As a hamster owner we use them and actually like them in the hamster community. Do rats dislike them?
•Jo• theyre not good for any animals sadly, theyre sold as a safe option for free roaming but it causes the animal high levels of stress and anxiety. Because theyre prey they depend on their senses at all times and in a ball they dont have that option even in a home it can be scary. Rats show it more by sitting still and refusing to move (most likely the intelligence being a big difference) but all rodents hide pain and emotions from instinct so its hard to see with hamsters. Im not saying its a horrible option for hamsters directly but its always good to look at pet forums and videos on excersise balls
@@jomoland As far as I know, putting hamsters inside running balls is seen as a bad thing in the hamster community too. But the media and pet shops keep spreading the wrong information about pets :\
Becca Louisee I put springtails and organic earth worms in there. They don't touch the spring tails bc they're too small, but they absolutely love digging up the earth worms and eating them. It's like their all time favorite thing to do :) I think they ate all them actually so I need to buy some more lol
Terrariums are problematic with rats because of the insufficient ventilation, just a quick reminder if someone tries to do a terrarium. I once had a digging box with plants too.... they didn't even survive a week and the mess was unbelievable, especially after they started walking through the water bowl and slightly "watering" the soil. 2/10, wouldn't do that again.
I found that my rats got stressed out if there was too much stuff in their cage that they had to climb over. Generally they loved just being able to run around inside their cage without any real obstacles. They weren't much for climbing either. They'd happily jump up on to stuff but it was rare to see them climbing. After a while I stopped giving them climbing toys as they never made use of them. They loved foraging so much though! It got to the point where I'd just start putting treats in slightly hard to reach areas around my flat. It was adorable seeing the pride on their little faces as they waddled on back to their cage, head held high, with a big treat in their mouths. I always thought it was so precious that they insisted on eating treats on the top floor of their cage by the food dish in what they had designated a box for eating in. I miss those guys so much
You should definitely turn this into a series. It's a great way for us all to connect, and to share information and ideas about making our pets lives better

Loved this video💞 I've been wanting to get rats forever now but can't get them in my current life situation. I'm using this time to educate myself on rats so they can get the best rat life possible once I get them 💙
I brought my first two ratties home today! They're still pretty shy, and haven't explored much of their cage (they've mostly been hiding in a little cardboard house I made at the bottom) and I'm trying to take my time with them, and let them adjust before I interact with them too much, but I've definitely found myself coming back to the cage and looking in at them a lot
I recently got two sweet rats the past two weeks, they are already 7 months old and are rescues, they were under poor conditions with their past owner and since I have gotten them I have spoiled them to no end! I would love to show the new cage! I wish I had a before of their cage but I could not bare to let them stay in their old cage any longer than they already had to, it was horrible. Not cleaned for months, they had not been fed for days, and the little bedding they were given was wood shavings. They have a much better cage now!

I think a part 2 or 3 would be really cool! I have a mixed age group with two elderly rats, a 1 year old, and 3 four month old rats. I try to have my cage work for all 6 of them but advice would always be welcome!
I love your video's! Most ratubers provide too much wrong information. ❤️❤️❤️ When i was watching i wanted to tip as well :) About the shelves i think they are great because they add more running space. Many rats will pee on a rock which you can place in the poop corner for example. Of course you have to Cook it first before using. Also these shelves are great for elder rats. I experienced with bird cages that the bottom is often very small. Wild rats arent really climbers but they dig more or find a space they can build a nest. They love ground space, also for elder rats that is great but baby rats as well.

I have a question..I recently rescued two Baby mice and I'm having trouble trying to find a suitable cage that has small enough bars where they wont escape through. As they are very tiny
When you say Sputnik I'm assuming you mean what they call a Space Pod on Amazon. I didn't even know they existed until I started watching rat videos. I got a really nice one from Amazon. I will probably get a second one as well.
I gave my rats a box full of tissue paper to dig around in and I had treats hidden in but ended up accidentally training them to use it as a litter box lol
It's so cool to see someone using a bioactive digbox in their rat cage! I'm wanting to do the same thing for my mice, but I don't know what live plants to get that would be safe and non-toxic for them to nibble on. Do you have any suggestions?
My sister and I are getting two more rats! They are about seven weeks old and our other rats are about a year and a half!🙂 Our rats we have now are grey and white (Harper), and black and white (Rylee)! The baby’s we are getting are both agouti! And if they don’t have names we are naming then Max and El after stranger things!
I looove seeing people's cages so I am down for more of these videos. I am super excited for the mouse version. What platform do you usually ask for submissions on - just so I don't miss it?
I have three boys, got em from a bad CL situation and the person said they came with a big cage. So I was like okay cool I can keep them in there until I get a better one. She gave me the Kaytee Multi-Level Habitat, way way way TOOO SMALL for three adult males. And no toys. Dw I’ve upgraded to Prevue Hendryx Black Feisty Ferret Cage. They’re much happier oh and they have toys and hides and hammocks now. Poor boys. She also said they weren’t friendly so she never held them. They’re the sweetest rats I’ve ever had, they love free roaming and cuddling. They were just neglected with her.
So I got rats three days ago (as of September 3rd) and they aren’t hand shy, I got them from a good breeder and they’ll take treats if i offer but 90% of the day, even after sunset, they’ll just hide in the corner in their little hut! One is more adventurous than the other and I see her more often, but the other one i hardly see at all. They aren’t exploring their cage (three levels, all sorts of toys, a hammock, climbing stuff, shredding stuff, etc). I don’t want them to become uncomfortable with being handled, so I’m scared to leave them completely alone, but I’m also scared of frightening them if I try to push them out of their comfort zone. Any advice would be really appreciated.
As a rat owner I love seeing others setups. I am always looking for new ideas for my rats cage becuase is nice to give them new things to explore and interact with. I would love to see a series with these videos. Also great to hear advice on cages so that others rats have the best of life. 😁🐀🐾

Our rats we have now are grey and white (Harper), and black and white (Rylee)! The baby’s we are getting are both agouti! And if they don’t have names we are naming then Max and El after stranger things!
I want a part two😖😩
I looove seeing people's cages so I am down for more of these videos. I am super excited for the mouse version. What platform do you usually ask for submissions on - just so I don't miss it?
Usually post it on my community tab! And then have people email them in 🙂
@@Emiology Okay, that's good! Thanks :D
Please do a second “reacting to your rat cages” please!!
haha you made this the day i got more baby ratties
in 2 weeks im getting a rat and i love watching you videos
I hope you’re not just getting one ☺️
At 9:50 the rats were named after characters in Moomin books incase any one didn't know and was confused.
Just a question, why do rats like peeing on the plastic shelves?
They like to mark things so that's why and it is not notice able on plastic!
I want a rat so much and this helped me thank you!
Paden Hoeler just remember you have to get at least 2 because they are so social 😉
I look so much forward to the mouse version!
I love seeing rat cages!
