- (an excerpt from "Istanbul" with Errol Flynn and Cornell Borchers, 1957). I could talk about the smooth and calm voice, about the piano and other instruments... about how I like to listen to Nat King Cole ... But the best think to ask you, is to close your eyes and feel this beautiful sound :)
What a great artist! Life in a song ...
Thanks for watching. -
Sorry to be the guy who says this, but this guy is above and beyond every thing I've ever heard. No, I am not gay, not even close, and no, I am not a wimpy guy, but this man has a tempo and voice that takes me back so far into my past and brings a strange peace about the simplicity of live. Throw away the Bible, and crumble the church steeples. Rather just listen to Nat King Cole and embrace the deep things of life once again.
Smile... Does the same thing.
your a fool to say that its because of the churches that this world is not in a worse condition
Clay Smith I love what you wrote
I like football, but I am not straight
Nat King Cole! Beautiful voice so gifted .Have to add he was a Gorgeous man.
Back ground music during the engagement ceremony of my eldest daughter Amor. When I hear this music I immediately recall those celebration.
He's got a voice as gentle as soft as butter. Beautiful. :)

What I appreciate most about Nat's singing (along with his amazing tone) is his ability to deliver a melody without ever over-singing or showing off. It was about conveying the emotion in the lyric and he was the master.
If Elvis Presley was King of Rock, Michael Jackson, King of Pop, sir Nat King Cole was King of Jazz.
my mums favourite,miss her x
reason we should cure cancer example number one
100%
Nat King Cole. One of the true giants. He left us far, far to early. He'll always be one of my favourites.
70 people don''t have a clue as to what real music is!
What a wonderful "golden" voice! Miss him!
Me lembro dos meus pais ouvindo Nat King Cole e essas músicas me dão muita saudade e me trazem lembranças emocionantes.
Such a superb voice: no electronic adjustments then. Songs recorded in one take
This is beautiful.

Love is like a secret - a warm forever!
World in you I met her,
Afraid I'm looking at you,
After all, I see myself in him,
You - my soul ...
I grew up with my parents listening to Nat all the time. I thought this was what love would be like. I am now 55 my husbnd left after 34 years. So now this is the love I want to find. R.I.P. Wonderful, lovely Nat King Cole
I am only 23 but I really think that he was/his the best singer of all times. Thanks for the song because the world needs L.O.V.E.
My Father died 10th February 2011 and left a loving family and my Mother knows that the words of this song is the love they had between them Caroline to John he was a Faither, Pa Pa and Great Pa Pa we miss you and love you we will look after Mother but Dad I cant stop crying I just love so much R I P
When i fall in love with u, completely my heart...
When i fall in love with u, completely my heart...
Sinatra lived 33 yrs. longer than Nat - he should've had more hits; but Nat was wayyyy more talented. and that's sayin fact
I was 1 month and 12 days old when he died. In 1964 when my mom was pregnant with me,she would listen to him all of the time.
Impressionante é não suspirar com imenso Romantismo
this song is so sincere 😭
Such a beautiful song and voice. I never watched the movie this was from, but from what I can see, it has a romantic feel. I like how as he is singing, you are able to see the couple observing Nat King Cole's performance. You can feel that they are so aware of each other's presence as Nat King Cole is singing. And it's really sweet, the way he reaches for her hand.It feels as if the song was just meant for them and that they are falling in love.
Yes...
Gdy zakocham się
To już na zawsze
Albo nigdy nikogo nie pokocham
W świecie pędzącym bez wytchnienia
Miłość się kończy, nim się rozpoczyna
I za wiele księżycowych pocałunków
Zdaje się zbyt zimnych w świetle słońca
Gdy oddam me serce
To całkowicie
Albo nigdy nie oddam mego serca
I w momencie, kiedy to poczuję
Ty również to odczujesz
Kiedy zakocham się
W tobie...
Cantor extraordinário !!!!
Encanta-me !
His voice is like silk sliding over ice
Now was the first time I saw him perform this song. Words alone cannot describe it. Honesty and sincerity from the heart are as close as I can get. Thank you, whoever shared this. GOD bless you.
The real wonderful part of the song is this : "When I give my heart, it will be forever. Or I'll never give my heart". Nowadays lovers do not understand that.
What a voice so relaxed, so soft, so smooth a true gift.
this is hands down my fav song from nat king cole.
beautiful everything
when i give my heart it will be completely...
Wonderfull, great singer!
had you been born during the time of Nat King Cole you wouldn't of discovered him as easily without the internet, this is the greatest generation of all time.
Like a smooth flowing river, this song.

...sonra hoparlörden müzik sesi duyuldu. kıyıya vuran dalgaları susturmuştu. Nat King Cole'dan ''When I fall in love çalıyordu ...
Meu deus é de tirar o chapéu!.
@kevinastraw This song has a more direct connection with Love and Respect for eachother as a couple, than with "Christian Heaven" ideas... Many people who don't believe in heaven indentify themselves with this song.
Plus, I respect other's opinions when they are done in a polite way and in a constructive way (and I could control the comments if I wanted).
You say my comment doesn't make sense, but you didn't explain why!
Next time think twice before makin a useless comment like your Last one.
@Reaper1722 Thanks for comment.
In fact I think age doesn't matter when it comes to have good taste for music or art. There are older people than us (I have 21 years old too) that aren't sensitive to some kinds of music, as well as a lot of people from our age that only listen to more contemporary genres.
Those things have to do with our own personality and education. I'm glad you and so many people like my videos... From Classical, to Soul, to Rock you can still discover music with Quality.
@kevinastraw I would personally add that it is also a song where the man and the woman care about what each other feels, so they are at the same level, they have not any kind of love, but a desire for a love where they both are free to feel the same way, and thats the basis for everything. Love and Respect for eachother. Don't you agree with me?
Thank you for comment!
Immer wieder gerne gespielt..........

A boa arte perdura.

Memories of long car journeys to Cornwall with my Husband David and our young Sons, David Died today December 15, 1994 - 24 years ago, Memories. Thank you.
I'm a heavy metal fan. Metallica, Pantera and Slayer are my favourites.
However, Nat King Cole's voice stops me in my tracks. Sends chills.
Happy Birthday Nathan Patrick Cole! My favorite singer, he was born on St. Patrick's Day. I've been fascinated by his voice since I was 8 yrs old. I'll take time tonight to listen to his beautiful music.
When I Fall In Love It Will Be Forever
Or I'll never fall in love
In a restless world like this is
Love is ended before its Begun
And too many moonlight kisses
Seem to cool in the warmth of the sun
When I give my heart it will be completely
Or I'll never give my heart
And the moment I can feel That You Feel That Way Too
Is When I Fall In Love With You.
And the moment I can feel That You Feel That Way Too
Is When I Fall In Love With You.
Thanks my dear friend!*** *Eliza*
Great song! Just like all his other recordings! I was 19 when this song came out, if I remember right, along with the versions of Johnny Mathis and Joni James. It looks like this came from a movie, because we can see someone that looks like Errol Flynn and another popular actress (I forgot her name) seated at a table listening.
Thanks for posting this lovely song. It makes me go back in time.
I most appreciate Nat Cole's singing for its directness, its lack of pretension. He has an innate elegance and warmth he projects to you as if you were his only listener. He sings the lyric in the manner of a great storyteller and with his inimitable voice, so rich and vibrant, he often creates poetry. It's sad that this sort of music is out of fashion. There are a few vocalists who are good today, but none equal Cole. Oh, we miss you, Nat.
I had no idea, well I was told that during these days black artist were not played on 'white radio'. So does that mean it's not true?
MEMORIES OF 1957 WONNDERFUL NAT !!!!YOUR SONG BRINGS IT ALL BACK , THANKS FRANK
It certainly changed over time because as someone from the 90s I've heard of Little Richard but I never heard of Pat Boone.
My name is nat
Frank WHO
A great song indeed, beautifully rendered by Nat but the things don't work this way in reality-fit for a lover madly in love & dating a girl! The original clipping from the film Istanbul glorifies this number!
@kevinastraw
That, my friend is the proof of heaven. The very fact that love exists. It's not just a great feeling, it's a reality. Nat King Cole was a conduit of that reality in his songs.
The most velvety, warm and caressing voice I've ever heard.
Great singer and great musician. He didn't express completely his great and multifaceted talent, higher than even that of Sinatra, because he died too young.
What an beautiful voice he had.....back then songs had lyrics that had meaning....not like todays rubbish....this was my grandmother and mother's favourite singer....can see why...
wonderful and powerful singer melodist performer and his voice so caressing and charming Mr Cole thanks you for all the beautiful moments you gave to everyone in the world!!!!! pure love!!!!!
My apologies, if you're talking about black artists in general, yes, you are correct, especially when it came to blues or rock. For example, you could hear Pat Boone's ripoffs of Little Richard's songs, but rarely, if ever, Little Richard's originals.
Nat Cole, for a variety of reasons, transcended that. He could certainly have been even bigger had there been no institutional racism, but he was pretty much second to only Sinatra during those days, and Sinatra himself said he preferred Nat.
Not true at all, he was pretty much a worldwide star; almost everyone knew him - he performed practically everywhere, was on radio stations internationally, was on TV, was in films... And, when you're that big and have that much breadth of exposure, at a time where there wasn't anywhere near the distraction of the multitude of mass media avenues as there are today, a true star's power to reach the masses was that much greater...
I wanted to comment with friendlmaonot & NRDAEMKE, for freely opening up their thoughts, pain and wisdom. Your words felt like they were coming from your heart. I read both of your words & then re-read them, again. NRDAEMKE: Not knowing your story, I had thought you may have lost a great love. If this is correct, I am so deeply sorry. And for friendlmaonot, in one great paragraph you spoke what was needed to be said. Such as learning to live again. Walk in the present with a beautiful smile.
@soundslikeblue You are SO right! I know this special great wonderful feeling. My "Spatzl" and me feel in this way. We felt in love 35 years ago and due we have been after 3 years to young we went away in two different ways BUT since 08. of March 2011 we are "going" our way together [I called to her sister in October last year as I felt to find her and my love called me back after a long time of thinking - she is married but unhappy. And now we are ONE together forever and that’s so wonderful.
I think it is amazing that with the passing of Sinatra, King Cole, and Torme, that Bennett is the last (?) great proponent of this style of presentation and delivery. Way low on the flash, but massive talent. They were all blessed by the fact that their respective heydays were such that they could develop their talents and performance skills in a slower-paced media world, you know records, radio, and live performances. Time is really under-appreciated. Hail, the King!
@284Maldiner I Know exactly what you mean, when you ask "does anyone feel anything real?" It is so hard in my age group now a days to find someone with true feeling who truly loves, and doesn't just focus on sex... I wish men like Nat still existed. The one's that truly made a woman feel loved and special. Makes you wonder if boys my age are even capable of appreciating true love. you know. (sorry soap box... LOL)
Sorry, soundslikeblue I'm so late, Yes, you're right. In pop culture respect as an ideal, as a way to live together, has disappeared. Genuineness has vanished, real feeling rather than something from tv or pop songs. Hands on the keyboard, headphones on, eyes glued to tv or computer, phone ringing to be answered, blackberrys to text with--- does anyone feel anything real? When have you heard a real thought? Nat knew all about it. Yes, we miss you, Nat. You gave us everything true.
@kevinastraw Although the title of this says Live, this is not a live performance. It is a scene from a movie, so the man shown is a character in the movie, rather than the actor Errol Flynn. Also, although Cole did not sleep around as much as Flynn, he was married twice and regularly cheated on his second wife. Just before his death, he had just ended an affair he had been having with a much younger woman. So by your standards, Nat King Cole should probably not be singing this song.
@kevinastraw Divorce rate probably agrees with you. Not really.
Love is something intangible that lasts forever only metaphorically, or perhaps if you would like to believe it.
I like how pretentious you are about foreverness of love and it being related to christianity. "Till death do us part" the pact made in a christian marriage. I'm sure that also agrees with what you said, no?
Please dont say something so insensitive and stir religious debate when its on the subject of love, seriously.
@Reaper1722
I TOTALLY agree! One of the reasons why songs lack emotion today are because of the lyrics. Lyrics just aren't written with such beauty, simplicity, class, and sophistication anymore. Today lyrics are about sex and drugs and singers hitting a bunch of high notes but there is no emotion or substance behind those high notes. Nat King Cole could hit high notes but only when it was appropriate in a song and when the emotion of the lyric required the singer to hit a high note.
@xXMichealJXx micahel wasnt the last theres plenty of legends still around the o jays are still alive so it natalie cole and chaka khan aretha franklin and much more :D
Mister Cole, Mister "King" Cole... My deepest Heart has the sound of your voice, sound that was given to me by my parents since my conception for you were the Voice of their love affair... and it was so for the 60 years they were together until they left,,, and maybe they have already shaken your hand... My Love to you full of gratitude for all these years of pure delight!!!
Funny thing is I am not as sad as I thought I would have been. So true about falling in love with yourself. As for feeling young I forget sometimes my age just a number. The fifty's are the new forty's, so I am told. I thank you for your words,I will live this life and have fun doing it. After all this is my show. Thanks again!
@kevinastraw Your comment represents the purest, the most unadulterated ignorance imaginable. It's simply a love song, delivered from one person to another without acknowledgment to a non-existent god. If you infer some Christian message within it then you may as well assign that same message to a TV ad in which someone declares a love for a Big Mac.
unbelieveble i am 50 and a semi pro reggae musician, but sinds my 4th i know these songs and lyrics out of the head, and they are unforgettable and incredible unintended became inspirational part of my musical and real life.
everything that´s written today is almost a copy , but they did it all from scratch.
thank you nat!
@aferg76 there was segregation there at that time even up to now... but as you can see, blacks are widely known to be really great singers and performers... and the whites knoww that... nat king cole and the likes of him started the trend toward equality between all races... and that's why he is one of the legends...
Somehow I feel the world is missing out on this beautiful and inspirational music.
The great Nat King moved many a soul in his day. If there was a way to bring this type of music back to the forefront, it would help shape and reshape young lovers hearts and minds. The music of today is so dry and lacking. Saddens me.
Thank you soundslikeblue for the upload. :-)
Genious, hero, master of love... makes me cry whenever I listen to his lovely singing...
Nat king cole
Angelo Balzano.
IT BRINGS ME TO TEARS TOO WHEN EVER I HEAR A SON BY THE GREAT LATE MR. NAT KING COLE HE HAS THAT SOULFUL VOICE
I was 11 when this song became popular. My oldest brother and sister played his record on our player.......long ago and far away
I been brought up in a household where this kind of music was playing either on the radio on record and try to keep it alive by covering the songs in my show....but no one can come even close to the beautiful voice of Nat...smooth and relaxing...unforgettable ! thank you for posting.
I miss songs like this. Today's songs lack this kind of emotion. Music back then could instill such emotions it could make a grown man cry. Man i miss the good ol' days. I may not have been born in that time period, but hell this song just shows you how wonderful it was.
I just watched this with my two younger kids. Standards are a favorite of mine and I enjoy finding rare remastered standards stuff (like a wonderful early Dean Martin I found a few years ago along with a few other gems at Amoeba when I lived in SoCal). Thanks for this. NKC is one of my very favorites.
Does anyone know who his piano teacher was? His style has never been matched. I listened to NKC since I was a teenager..up to now in my mid 40's plus I got my mother hooked on him too. His piano ballads are timeless. I always get a restful sleep with them.
I have this played at all my weddings
nat was so smooth. one of 'great love songs'. it would take a 'karen carpenter to redo this. what a melody...
natalie aint to shabby either
I'm 15 and last Tuesday, I was in a subway in Paris a man came in with his guitar, I smiled at him and he sang "Smile" by Nat King Cole, I was so touched because I felt a bit melancolic at this moment and it was this song that I needed to feel better :)
I didn't think I could ever be jealous of a voice, but gdamn... His baritone voice exudes so much charm it's uncomprehensible, not even Sinatra imo is on that level.
I seriously can't see any woman he talks to not falling in love.
music of those times, from ppl, like Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, The Platters, and Nat King Cole, along with many others, is music i hope will never leave or get lost, with all the music that comes out today....love this stuff...wud be sad if it got lost!!
love this song i love oldies..... haha sounds weird huh from a 21 years old.. lol...
and we need more this type of songs now... its like the sound of the artist form those period is just so nice/ pure... i dont know how to say it..
@Reaper1722
so true... Johnny Ray would actually fall on his knees and cry during his performances of "Cry". I was born in 1959 but I grew up with this music... it still brings back so many memories. It helped make me the man I am today...
