Mazda has been stepping up big time. Their shift to be a luxurious brand in itself is paying off. This cx90 is really nice inside and out. Good job Mazda!
Yep, the CX-60 here in Europe seems to be a hit too. I've seen a ton of them already. It's the luxury without showing off and saving a lot of money as well.
When I bought my wife a CX9, we were not crazy about not having a touch screen. It took no time at all to get use to it and we both love it. Very simple, very user friendly and NO FINGERPRINTS.
I am impressed with this Mazda CX90. It's sharp looking all around, seems well put together, and I like how you reported the good torque and good handling. That's huge. Two thumbs up.
This vehicle is very nice, and I think they would sell these like crazy at $55K. The $62K price tag seems a little bit steep for a Mazda - even though this definitely is the nicest Mazda to date.
Your just paying for that high output engine that also need’s premium fuel to get the 340hp. Honestly the lower output 280hp premium plus is plenty for most people and that’s only 55k
You can get one for just over $40K and plenty of trims in between the base model and top of the line $62K. Most people will buy one of the mid trims for about $50-55K anyway. It’s a bargain for what you get considering what the competitions cost.
Also they have have been having a lot of ghost touching issues with their touch screens currently getting mine replaced and my core irked has the same issue
My wife’s best fiend test drove this in Bergen County NJ, she went bonkers over it, said it drive like a dream , and felt like she was in a Porsche Cayenne interior, apparently , a home run for Mazda

I was at my local Mazda dealer to put my name on the (long) waiting list for a CX-50.For the fun, I did a road test of the CX-90. I love it so much that I finally ordered a top of the line Signature CX-90 (Canadian spec). Delivery at the end of July.
For a Family Hauler, this seems to hit the sweet spot for me. It's practical, affordable, nicely appointed and more dependable than any Kia/Hyundai wannabe. IMHO.
For someone that really shouldn't like this segment of cars/SUVs, I am oddly in love with this car/SUV. I think they hide the look of 3rd row well, which explains why the 3rd row is so tight. Like you said Joe, compromise. I definitely have my eye on the PHEV. Will have to test drive it next time I'm at the dealer. Good job on the review Joe and Lori, and excellent camera work to Steven.
Great job… We bought the CX9 Carbon a couple years ago and my wife loves it. Enjoyed the review - well done… it was very thorough and just what I want in a review. Thanks for putting it thru the paces as you demonstrated the performance side I was curious about. The CX-90 may just be our next upgrade! Thank you and your team!
Great review, as always! The infotainment does have the option for touch but is disabled by default and can be enabled in the menus. With CarPlay, the buttons around the infotainment control knob jump between different functions such as navigation/home/and music which is great. The engine cover is large, but it is hinged so that it can be clipped up to the hood. As a CX-9 owner, one thing I noticed and appreciate is how the door trim wraps under the car, so the inside of the door stays nice and clean (do my own detailing). We love our CX-9 for the most part, but just past 4.5 years the oil control valve starting leaking oil and took it to Mazda for repair. The acknowledged the leak, but rather than a repair, sent me home with a service bulletin to show that the leak has to be "dripping wet" for them to do a repair under warranty. Not a fan of oil leaking onto garage floor. While looking into this issue, came across the fact the Mazda 2.5T engine produced before June 2020 are prone to cylinder head cracking around the exhaust manifold. Mazda has a bulletin for this as well, but has not extended anything related to the warranty. So, while our Mazda has been mostly great, I'm reluctant to keep a vehicle that's a ticking time bomb from a great company that doesn't have the resources to stand behind their products. Good luck all.
I’m on my 4th new Mazda between wife and I. My first was a used hand me down from my parents who are Mazda people since 1989. But the new ones have all been bullet proof so far including my 2016 CX-9. Hopefully it holds up. I have a 2016 Mazda 3 that is sitting in the garage now and I have a 2021 CX-5 that I leased for myself. I haven’t had to test Mazda on their warranty service but I’m really disappointed to hear about how your experience has been with them. I would not be happy at all. I think highly of Mazda but like auto insurance the test comes when you need help. It would take a lot to steer me towards another brand unless it was Lexus but I’m considering them for next time around. I was at their local dealer Wednesday putting my hands on new products as my CX-5 lease ends next May. I plan on another Mazda but with some inheritance I received I thought about taking $20k from it and upgrading to Lexus from Mazda. Who knows if I’ll actually do that. I feel like $45k is plenty to spend for a really good car but times are changing quickly and it seems $40k is the new $20k. I’m a newly minted doctor and my wife who is 4 years older is an obstetrician and we will start leasing all of our vehicles from now on. I feel it’s in the budget to step up on price even though I rather spend the money on our home. But I compromise with her to keep the peace in our marriage lol.
Joe, The painted wheel well trim looks really sharp. I wish more manufactures would paint the trim. I'm guessing that its expensive to do. Good review. This really more compares to the Acura MDX rather than the Pilot.
Yea I think the companies save a lot of money not painting the wheel arches and they sort of claim it’s an active lifestyle vehicle with the black cladding visible. I will say it’s nice leaving it black when a door opens from another vehicle and hits your wheel arch.
These manufacturers have been getting a lil bit ridiculous with the prices. They want 55k for a new acura integra and now 60k for a Mazda. Are you kidding me
One of the best SUVs money can buy! This engine, turbo, and mild hybrid setup would be nice in a brand-new Mazda 6 AWD with 350-400 horsepower. I agree with you, Joe that Mazda should have never gone away from marketing itself as the ZOOM ZOOM brand. Great review by you and Steven.
I really like the CX90, but don't need three rows, I can't wait for the reveal of the upcoming, hopefully very soon CX70. I hope it's a 10 inch shorter version of that. That I would certainly consider purchasing. Love the zoom zoom, the interior, especially that color combo and the white isn't bad either.

LOL 😂 glad they’ve gotten away from the smiley face grilles! The CX90 will definitely turn heads and make people ask what is that!? When they see it
Great job with the review. As you pointed out, there are compromises. I've driven the car and you are right on with how it drives and feels. Very impressive for it's size. I just wish Mazda could have done a better job with the interior cargo space. I would personally like a little wider usable space in the rear and a better designed and usable layout of space with all the seat folded. I did the "golf club test" at the dealer. It failed the test. A set of golf clubs does not fit well "width wise" in the back. The interior rear cargo width of our Audi Q5 and Subaru Outback both have wider usable space than the much larger CX-90. I also notice the unlike say a BMW X7, the back of the Mazda's second row seats are made like the back of the front seats. Does that rarely used 3rd row really need a plush seat back with pockets to use? Personally, I would rather have the seat backs of this second row be of a material like in most folding seats, that when folded you have a nice cargo area to use without worrying about scratching and damaging the back of the seats. Essentially in the top trim, this is 4 adult and 2 small children car. That's not much for how big the car is. You better make the best and most utility and cargo carrying capacity of it if you do this. That said. The interior quality looks great and it's one of the nicest driving SUV's with power, torque and good fuel economy out there.
Great, great review. I just bought the CX-90 5 days ago. I upgraded from the CX-5. Wow, what a difference. I'm very satisfied with the car and the performance. I bought the plug in hybrid. I love this car.
Love the review. You need to start comparing Mazda to Lexus, bmw, and Mercedes though because this engine and rwd architecture blows Honda and Kia out of the water. Comparing them to proper luxury vehicles makes Mazda a real value for performance, luxury, and price
As always Joe theee best review out of them.all!!! Mazda came thru with this family hauler! Keep up the good work! On to 2 million viewers ON THROTTLE HERE WE GO!!
I think Mazda did a great job on the CX-90. Everything but the price point. All over them are about 5k more than they should be. If they dropped MSRP 5k on all levels they'd sell these like hot cakes.
I think this Mazda is gonna give Honda and everyone else the run for their money. If i to buy an SUV, this one will be my choice. Thank's Joe, and Congratulations on 1million subs you guys deserve the very best!
Mazda is the brand to go to. Have owned many many Mazdas in my life and have never had a single problem with the car, the sales people, the service departments. Unlike this P.O.S Subaru Im driving now, such a mistake changing brands. Great review as always Joe
I have test drove one twice now, but I have to disagree with it having a smooth transmission. During both my test drives the transmission was very erratic producing hard shifts and seems to get confused at times. It also has this very noticeable thud from the transmission when coming to a complete stop. It's a great looking SUV inside and out, I just hope Mazda can reprogram the transmission for an overall smooth operation.
we currently have a Volvo XC90, and I was looking at the BMW X7. Then this came up on one of my commercials. I've yet to see it in person but WOW it looks modern, luxurious, eye catching, sleek and for today's prices very affordable! Will definitely be visiting a local Mazda.
Joe, I agree with you, it needs dual pipes in the back and fog lights… did you notice any issues with the transmission jerking? Some reviewers have mentioned it. I don’t know whether it’s wet clutch type or what. Your comments are always important when making purchase decisions. Keep up the good work bro….best regards
Thank you for all you videos. They really help with trying to figure out what type of suv we wanted to get. After multiple views, visits to the different dealers your videos and detail on the videos helped us validate what we wanted to purchase. We just purchased a 2023 Acura MDX Type S Advance and we love it. Thanks for all the information you and your wife provide! Tiger Eye Pearl with orchid interior.
Last month the Mazda dealership near me had a top spec cx90 in the showroom. I put the front seat and the second row chair in position where I would feel comfortable and looked to see how much foot room was available in the third row. Even my niece who is only 4’ and a bit would have no foot room in the third row. I wasn’t even going to attempt jumping in there. For comparison, the Nissan Pathfinder, I had more room in the third row where I could climb in with room to spare.
Great presentation Joe! For $20,000 less we got the Nissan Pathfinder and love it. Great ride, tech, space and we got 28 mpg on a highway trip. That savings will buy a lot of twinkies!
See a drove one of those and then a Mazda and I forgot about the Nissan. I tell people to buy a Nissan and don’t drive the Mazda after because they will choose mazda. I did. It just feels more expensive in the steering and transmission I believe. My neighbor just bought the pathfinder. He always wants to drive my new cars and I drive his new pathfinder. He was like damn this is nice and drives nice, how much was it? The pathfinder is nice, and more spacious and has some things Mazda doesn’t have, just not as refined from my experience. But they have to cut costs somewhere. Mazda does too. But the steering is so nice.
🇺🇸 *LIKE this Mazda CX-90 much better than any Kia* !! *But NOT better than Pilot, Passport, or MDX* !! *GREAT to have REAL buttons on the dash* !! *Superb content Joe and Steven* !! #RaitisRides 🇺🇸
nah, Mazda is better than Pilot and Passport. Not only Mazda drives better because of the RWD platform, but the interior quality is much better than Honda. CX90 is a premium car, so the only real competitor is MDX. But MDX in the top trim is many thousands of $ more expensive than the top trim CX90
@@silimarina. Yep we own a prior gen MDX and the CX90 blows the hondas away and edges out the MDX overall. The hondas have trash can interiors (IMO) and the MDX is solid inside with SH-AWD being kick but. For me it's CX90 vs. GV80.
I'd go with 18- 20" wheels with a little more tire. I like the extra cushion and protection from bangs and bumps plus it looks a little tougher IMO. That straight 6 will become legendary. 200-300k mile potential. One of the best engine designs across the board. 👍
I always hate it when you find out that you have 3 extra kids that you didn't know about! But, seriously, I believe Mazda has made the most profound positive changes to all of its vehicle models over the past 10 years or so. Ford has been using the phrase "Quality One" for decades, but I believe that handle is now much more deserving with the Mazda brand. If I were in the market for a midsize 3-row SUV, I'd definitely give this one serious consideration. Thanks, Joe.
Lol on the 3 kids. You do know that Ford and Mazda are separate though? I’m not trying to say you implied that ford still owns part of Mazda, but since you brought up Ford, I wanted to mention it. Lots of people still think Ford and Mazda are connected. But Mazda does their own thing. Anyways I agree with your comment.
I feel like after watching Raiti for a few years and hearing him introduce the review with the manufacturers history, I have it memorized because he says it on all of the videos! Hahaha. When he said, “Mazda….” I knew I would hear the word “cork” 2-3 seconds later. Lol 😂
I’ve had the cx5 and cx9. This one isn’t as nice to me. The engine has good power but it’s lacks in a lot of areas as a family 3 row. Cup holders and some designs inside suck. The second row seats don’t recline like the last and you have to pay 60k to get everything you want. We went with the redesigned Honda pilot.
you should have test drove the 3.3 Turbo premium plus trim for $53k. It has a great layout and pretty much everything you need with a slightly detuned engine.
@@aceofspades6667 oh I did. At first I did like the new Mazda but not for me. I don’t like how they did the trims and the function of the space on the inside sucks. Second row got worst to me. They tried to get fancy but forgot mostly moms drive their cars. Honda pilot and Kia telluride beat it out to me overall with their redesigns. Pretty sure the premium plus stickers like 55-56k.
I was going to buy one of these but am willing to wait for a few more production years to go by. It's a new trans with dual clutch so see if any hic ups develope over time. It's fun as hell to drive. It needs fog lights!!!
Just letting any doubts out there about Mazda. I have a 2019 CX-3 AWD 2.0. I have only done oil changes in 4 years I’m at 160k kms it drives like new!! Not one issue mechanically! Only problem is the steering wheel materials started to flake off. I’ll take that as my only issue in 4 years and driving the crap out of it!!
You didn’t mention the 3rd row air vents are next to your knees. For a midsize SUV that is 200 inches long, I would expect an interior larger than a Highlander. Even the FWD-based CX-9 has the same problem

As always Joe theee best review out of them.all!!! Mazda came thru with this family hauler! Keep up the good work! On to 2 million viewers ON THROTTLE HERE WE GO!!
Glad to see this beautiful CX-90 powered with an inline-6. I'm holding on for the 2-row CX-70.
RIP this guy.
Don't forget MAZDA's final assembly point is in Hofu Japan, and this is a big deal
I think Mazda did a great job on the CX-90. Everything but the price point. All over them are about 5k more than they should be. If they dropped MSRP 5k on all levels they'd sell these like hot cakes.
MSRP is a suggestion. Go in and negotiate for that 5k
I think this Mazda is gonna give Honda and everyone else the run for their money. If i to buy an SUV, this one will be my choice. Thank's Joe, and Congratulations on 1million subs you guys deserve the very best!
Go sleep😅
Honda is a lost cause. They lost their ball long time ago.
Love the interior! Looking forward to cx70……😊
Stay tuned Tom! I will have it for you!
Is this better than the Telluride? One word......YES! thanks for that daily 🔥brother Joe!
Mazda is the brand to go to. Have owned many many Mazdas in my life and have never had a single problem with the car, the sales people, the service departments. Unlike this P.O.S Subaru Im driving now, such a mistake changing brands. Great review as always Joe
why is the SUBI a POS?
Loving the color matching fender wells
What an awesome ride and your reviews are top notch.
I drive a Mazda 3 and I love the control knob.
Love the ride! But for $61k, mazda has to stop being stubborn about the non-touch screen tech. If I'm spending 61k i want a touch screen
Nobody gets into it like this guy the best keep it coming king!!
I have to be honest, I really don't even notice rear window wipers. I am kind of blown away by how much they irritate Joe and some other reviewers.
Without it cleans the rear end so I can see why some people dont like it exposed especially on a upscale luxurious car
62k is craazy honestly
My mother brought a 2018 Kia Sorento 2.2 litre diesel when it came out for $60,000 NZD. Still going strong to this day!
@@thewolfwhocriesa big hell no
@@mbenton6 that diesel engine man. Chuck it in Sports mode, it hits different
@@thewolfwhocries make sure it does catch fire
@@mbenton6 geez guy/girl, that is NOT a nice thing to say! Get some class
I have test drove one twice now, but I have to disagree with it having a smooth transmission. During both my test drives the transmission was very erratic
producing hard shifts and seems to get confused at times. It also has this very noticeable thud from the transmission when coming to a complete stop.
It's a great looking SUV inside and out, I just hope Mazda can reprogram the transmission for an overall smooth operation.
Could that have been the mild hybrid starting and stopping the engine?
Most transmissions nowadays are adaptive. They smooth out and learn driving behavior over time/miles. Takes a few thousand miles.
@@Darylrb1983you say what senior? I'm a car service worker but I've never heard or read this fact before? Is this a joke?
I really like the way this looks and the inside is nice and clean.
Hi Joe, great review, so you recommend it as compared to grand highlander? Whats your advice?
If you need maximum space go Grand Highlander, and if you want the better driver go CX-90!
Thanks
we currently have a Volvo XC90, and I was looking at the BMW X7.
Then this came up on one of my commercials. I've yet to see it in person but WOW it looks modern, luxurious, eye catching, sleek and for today's prices very affordable! Will definitely be visiting a local Mazda.
Totally imported from Japan. This one has all the luxury inside out- the perfectionism and combustion engine- inline six accelerations smoothly.
I like this better than both of those Suvs you just mentioned joe
Proud owner, I vinyl wrapped the chrome in black and makes the rims pop even more. I just wish Mazda revamped the infotainment system.
It is wet
Congrats on the 1 Million Subscribers 🔥
Now my SUV to buy!
Heck yeah Jeremiah!
I would definitely buy one of these over a telluride. And I like the Telluride. This seems a lot higher end.
I am considering trading in my Telluride. I love it but after 3 years it's starting to show the poor quality materials KIA uses..
I love & own KIAs (including the Telluride), but Mazda flexed big time with the CX-90 🧑⚖
He tried to say snickers at 22:49, but…. Lol😅
The CX-90 is basically a better X5 with Japanese build quality and reliability.
I think you hit the nail on the head!
A few other car review youtuber complained the transmission has a problem being hesitant in low speed...problem goes away in sports mode...though
Yes
@@chenmenis it's a calibration "problem", not a mechanical one. I'm sure Mazda will fix that with a software update in the near future.
I wouldn't call it better than X5, but most likely more reliable.
I just got the CX90 Select(base model) for 4k below msrp of 41.5k.
No other car has the features this base model has at 37.5k plus tax fees.
Maybe I'm an airhead, and so be it, but my favorite part of Raiti's reviews are when he evaluates the storage spaces and what can be stashed. 😅
I’m and airhead too then lol …. I also like when he evaluates the storage with burgers, twinkies , etc lol
Man that Mazda looks amazing.
15:14 Brady Baby!.. lol, i roll around with my Buccaneers Brady bobble-head in my glove department. 🤣
my coworkers new sorento lit on fire over night, they never told him about the recall, he just got a new toyota suv now
Great presentation Joe!
The savings would buy lots of pop tarts.
Good luck with your Nissan.hope you got an extended warranty
Give me blacked out Carbon Edition CX-70 with carbon fiber trim instead of wood in interior and take my dang money Mazda! 💰💵🤯
Reatis knows all the food that can get in the door pockets 😂 ,, i really love this Guy 💌
Another great video and review. Keep those cars coming 🦾🦾
Could you imagine this vehicle in all black with those rims? White doesn't look too good with this amazing big Bertha.
GV80.
Lol, yeah
The vehicle with the turbo straight-six, RWD platform, BMW aesthetics and luxury interior is worse than the econobox Pilot
Oh, I like it. Send it over so I can properly celebrate the 1 million subs in style. 😂 Kidding, not kidding, but I really do like it.
Now that sounds like a plan!
I'd go with 18- 20" wheels with a little more tire. I like the extra cushion and protection from bangs and bumps plus it looks a little tougher IMO. That straight 6 will become legendary. 200-300k mile potential. One of the best engine designs across the board. 👍
22:46 lol that slip so funny
Mazdas need to be on everyone test drive list when shopping for cars. Across classes, they have some great rides.
Lol 😂
I enjoy watching your videos. “Extra 3 kids that you didn’t know about “ hilarious 🤣
I kinda like the white more than the red
It is a very classy color.
I like the direct control knob to control the infotainment.
this headcam style when driving is my favorite hope to see this in all videos instead of the face/ dash cam style
Best CX-90 review I’ve seen.
Awe man, I remember pogs and the slammers we used to collect 👍🏼
I feel all the perfection in that car 😍 nice job mazda ❤
Beautiful side profile. Very Jaguar-esque!
You didn’t mention the 3rd row air vents are next to your knees.
For a midsize SUV that is 200 inches long, I would expect an interior larger than a Highlander. Even the FWD-based CX-9 has the same problem
27:04 those birds had to move before you killed them
You know it!
Cant wait for the 3.3 liter turbo Mazda 6 when it comes back. 340hp and 369ft lbs of torque. Oooooh yesssss
Tell me about it. Fingers crossed!
