Oh yay , First . I love when everything looks all neat and topped up and mulched ready for the growing season. So beautiful. I like self seeding gardens too for their chaotic beauty . I really need 2 different gardens. Haha . Thank you for sharing lovely ❤❤
I love when they look all orderly too and then they turn into a wild jungle in summer which is also lovely. Having access to the paths is good to achieve at the start of spring or else I can’t get into my garden. 😂 I hope you’re having a lovely weekend 🌻
Hey there! Last year I tried ginger inside as I heard of others doing that, but it didn’t work. I’m tempted to give it a go outside this year under frost cloth.
I’m interested in understanding why you would use no dig beds as opposed to turning over the soil and planting. You have heaps of land and what looks like great soil. Do you find that you end up spending a fortune on compost / manure every year? I have always used digging in my beds and I am trying to weigh up the cost of the compost over just digging the bed and preparing it that way
Good questions! I’ve just made another video which I’ll get up asap to answer your questions. But basically I do no dig gardens so I don’t expose the nutrients and micro organisms under the soil and for ease of weed control. I’ll go into more depth in the video and also answer your $$ question for manure and such. I would recommend keeping with your no dig garden though, so much better in so many ways. Thank you for your questions! 🌻
Our soil varies over the 42 acres, but mostly loamy soil for the first foot and then clay, also lots of stones in some areas. We managed to choose the rockiest place to build the house and driveway. 😂 The soil was quite depleted and has improved since we’ve started adding to it.
I really enjoy your channel, I just found it last week. So good to see Australian ‘homesteading’ videos. I’m in Perth, WA and I’m so glad it’s spring!
Thank you for watching! I’m so glad you’re enjoying my videos. Enjoy your beautiful spring over there in Perth! 🌻

It looks stunning! We are in Victoria too. Have you ever grown tumeric and ginger? How did it go?

What’s your natural soil like? where I am (near Ballarat) is hard clay with very little top soil.
