My mother used to go down Steep Hill occasionally with me in a pram many moons ago. With the brakes on it just about held and did not run away. She preferred Monks road to get down into the City with a pram.

Back in the 1880's the building that houses Yak on The Strait at the 5 minute mark was a 2nd hand clothes shop run by the Elmer family. They also held a register of servants who worked not just in the area of Lincoln but throughout many parts of England. The family, including a daughter named Martha came from Norfolk in the 1870's and descendants still live in Lincoln today. Martha was at one point the oldest resident in Lincoln and passed away at the age of 101 in 1956. By a strange quirk of fate her daughter in law also held the same honour some years later and lived to the age of 104.

When you walk up this hill you almost feel like you're going to fall off even though of course you won't but it's that steep at times.

I walked up and down here today with my friend and boy does it live up to it's name, I say if you want to know just how steep it is then try walking up it, the temperature was minus 3 and we were both sweating, I'm absolutely shattered now and will sleep tonight
