What a world we live in where i'm looking at the wan show being under 2 hours and feeling like its not long enough. How many days of my life have been spent watching nothing but the wan show?! Not enough, apparently.
Pre-covid Wan Shows were mostly an 1.5hr.

As a guy in his 30s who's "going back to school" to get his pilates instructor certification I can confirm this is true. I have a college degree but I've been struggling to find/make a career with it. So now I'm back in "school" to get my cert to teach & hopefully meet someone else who's single & also appreciates putting in the work to take care of yourself.
Way too many people in their 30s think that having a career and/or money is the only thing a person needs to be an attractive partner. It's not. Money is actually pretty damn low on my priority lists. But apparently a lot of people assume that's the only thing they need/want in a partner.
Getting off the apps & meeting people IRL is the only useful advice I have for people. It hasn't helped me meet my future wife yet: but it has helped me meet a lot of people who will likely be setting me up with my future wife haha. And as a bonus: I've actually gotten a six pack + arms & shoulders with definition to them in the meantime.
Don't settle for "good enough." Keep investing in improving yourself & make sure to find ways to keep meeting new people.
Gyms might not be great places to socialize, but a yoga studio with small classes is! In a studio setting you get to see the same people on a regular basis + you meet people who share an interest with you & you can meet people who aren't afraid to put in the work to get the results they want.
There ARE possibilities out there, you just gotta log off long enough to find them.

Linus is so lucky he met Yvone and it worked out long term. There is almost 100% chance that you wouldnt be able to build company that big if not for having someone who understands and/or supports you in a way you need during the begining and it is so rare.

And we’re only hearing about these risqué images because that’s headline grabbing. How much of our other data, docs, messages, passwords (deleted or otherwise) are resurfacing … and where … for whom?
As a note of advice, if you're dating someone you work with that could be problematic with a messy breakup, there are steps in how you date to make it less likely for a breakup to be extra messy in the first place.
Taking things slowly, avoid oversharing or getting physical too quickly, and focusing on communication and getting to know each other can help. Also treating dating differently from marriage makes it easier to amicably separate.
This would actually be my advice for any dating, not just a coworker, but it was the example where is most obvious that you can't easily avoid the person of it goes horribly

This is why I despise so many devices pushing their cloud storages in the most annoying fashion. I simply do not trust my files being stored online.
Yeah. I disabled my iPhone storing my photos in the iCloud. Yesterday I wanted to look at a photo, and it said “downloading photo” before I could look at it…. Will be glad when I can afford some other phone.
i now avoid any cloud storage stuff, and only use phyisical storage.. SD cards, hard drives.. not someone elses harddrive.
I have photos never uploaded to iCloud (deleted almost immediately after taking them without access to WiFi, then removed permanently from the trash bin because it was a couple of sensitive images) resurface. I do t think the bug is with iCloud but is instead with local storage. Also why that guy’s wiped phone had old photos resurface.
Same here I'd rather build a home server. Then upload stuff to it.
@@lumoneko299 I had an issue in february where my iPhone started to behave laggy, couldn't send images in WhatsApp etc, I restarted it and most (all?) pics of the last 36h were gone. Not in iCloud, not on my Mac, just straight gone. Posted it on reddit and there were a lot of ppl with the same issue. I think 17.5 should've fixed that issue and someone in that reddit thread reported that his images came back after installing 17.5
Can confirm the dating thing. 38 year old dude, totally missed the boat because of life getting in the way, and I've pretty much decided it just isn't happening. Meeting people is a young person's game, and it looks weird/awkward. It's hard dealing with the extra baggage that can come along with it.
The advice about just getting really involved with hobbies/sports in a group setting is the only way to go after university
39 year old guy here. Never been on a date. Zero interest from women. I have come to the conclusion I probably wouldn't even enjoy what most people do for dates since what I really want is a woman who wants to play video games together and they don't exist if you believe the profiles on dating sites. I gave up.

On dating sites I just looked at hundreds of profiles, noticed that every single one of them was the same (dogs, travel, wine), and then found the few DIFFERENT profiles... which were disturbing.
Any woman on those sites who likes video games tends to have brightly dyed hair and a profile stating that they are into all kinds of weird kinky stuff, only want casual sex, but also want children. ???!
I briefly tried Tinder but noticed that women don't fill out their profiles so I had nothing to work with other than photos.

Doesn't have to be. Go to meetups and get hobbies where you will meet others. If you're too tired or lazy to do that and make an effort then it's another thing, it definitely gets harder. But it's not as glum as some make it out to be unless you've just given up.
As someone who IS one of these 150$ wayfinders founders pack owners, there's a couple things i want to add.
They can't refund these players, they not only lost publisher funding, but said publisher has allegedly also took a portion of the FOUNDER PACK money meant to help FUND this game.
And the entire game servers, account systems they were using to save player account data, and what enabled them to have crossplay
Was all of the Publisher's servers. It was all of their infrastructure. They would need to start from SCRATCH which isn't feasible.
Airship's CEO JoeMad even did what we ask countless other CEOs to do, he reduced his own pay to absolutely minimize layoffs. He cares.
Personally, i don't blame people for being upset, but that isn't me. I've wanted changes like this in the industry for years, and now, despite the circumstances, I'm getting it for a game i love.

I for sure have had iCloud Photos disabled forever, and after the update I had random pictures show up in the most recent pictures. Nothing bad, just for sure deleted. Also no photo sync and not sent to anyone or any device
Yeah, it’s more likely related to some leftover files on the device itself which then get restored due to a bug. Linus really jumped to a conclusion that it’s an iCloud issue for some reason.
@@Thangwow It's the most likely explanation, giving lack of evidence otherwise. I would understand a sync issue. It's not great, in that something deleted should be gone for good, but I also understand that deletes need to be committed across devices that sync to the same cloud share, so there's a plausible explanation for why "deleted" does not mean "no longer exists."
Resurfacing data on a local device that was wiped? I'm going to need a really, _really_ good explanation for that.
1:02:00 - the files are on the top of the Gallery because they've just been "written" to the system file. This is likely happening because the update is somehow restoring all "lost files" it finds on the device. Like a filesystem repair. It finds the files without pointers and creates a NEW pointer. The metadata is old (because that's part of the file itself) but the pointer is new, so the file is on the very top.

Linus is spot on about land-owning politicians not wanting to lose growing equity, but there are many other fun factors:
-Even if politicians aren't necessarily big landowners, the majority of their constituents are! Boomers like growing equity too.
-NIMBY's. Many people here still believe that denser housing invites crime and traffic problems, and that single family homes are still the ideal form of housing.
-Builders profit most from building giant luxury homes. Even when given the option to build higher density, they often don't.
-Zoning, this is part of the NIMBY problem, but also greenbelts, industrial and commercial zoning is choking out building opportunities in some cases.
-Material, labor, and utility costs are also higher than ever, but these are spread out more when building higher density housing...
When Linus is next to Yvonne you can see how his expression change, you can feel the love there, that is so good to see even from outside.
Best thing I've found for dating and making friends as an Adult is small live music. For the most part everyone at small gigs are there to socialise as much as music. Honestly it's such a refreshing and open experience.

Yoga studios too are different from traditional gyms. You see the same people in classes every week + you have a few minutes before & after the class to chat with your fellow classmates. I've made a bunch of friends that way & met a number of "potential partners" there as well. Can't say it's lead directly to me getting married yet: but it's certainly producing more productive outcomes than any dating app ever has.
Yeah I get together for music events, sports or hobby events, and house parties. Not too hard to meet girls. I'm 33 btw
the biggest issue with dating apps is that the incentives are backwards, each time an app matches the perfect pair that app will lose 2 customers. So dating apps don't have the incentive to actually match people.

Just us humble reporters, doing our very best to represent the spirit of the common man, and sacrificing time, money, attention from the opposite sex, and hair follicles to bring you, dear viewer, the most accurate reporting ever conceived by men of science. My understanding of how deletion works is that essentially the index that tells the system where that data is is just edited to say that those cells are available rather than referencing whatever data is there and that none of the 1's and 0's are ever actually deliberately changed until that sector is actually overwritten as new data is stored there unless you run an actual data destruction program.
That is generally how deletion works on most systems, specifically after removing it from the recycle bin or equivalent. The data is generally still available until overwritten, if you can rebuild the index with a tool.
Are they keeping a saved copy of the old index then? Otherwise how are they just restoring it without some intentional hardware?
But then that begs the question of why exactly after I told you to permanently delete something your intentionally storing methods of restoring it.
@@sparkzbarca Not a stored copy of the index. The data of files is stored in some order on the drive, and most file formats have some kind of special beginning and ending tags (so whatever’s reading it can warn you if it can’t process that file type).
This means that even if you don’t have the index, just by reading through the raw data on the drive you’ll see the beginning and end of a certain type of file.
Just did an iOS update to 17.5 and it restored a lot of deleted photos. Here is what I can tell you:
1) It restored whole videos, photos, and saved images/screen shots since the iphone 4s throughout my camera roll. Hundreds of photos, dozens of videos. No real selection on what was restored.
2) It seems that everything restored was at some point synced to iCloud. Anything that was deleted before syncing didn't show up.
3) I've had an iphone 4s, 6s, 8s, and 12 pro max. Photos from across these devices were restored regardless of when I originally deleted them.
4) They did not show as recently saved (they are ordered by original date), but the dates seem to restore as far as 2014.
Theory on the photos thing: On Android, apps save versions of photos you send or receive in cache directories. Maybe that's been happening on iOS behind the scenes and the camera roll changed how it discovers photos on local storage?

It seems people in ltt are still burned from GN as they did not mention them once in the Asus story even though they broke the story with a video that has more than 1.6m views.
Best way to socialize, that has been working for me after moving to a new city, was board gaming. You meets tons of new people and you immediatly have something to ease you into the small talk. In my case there was a regular meet at a board game club. On another note, I meet my wife at a pub quiz, same story here.
Encryption at rest is a massive faff, because if you truly leave key management/ storage completely up to the user, you have no way of helping them recover their data when their device is lost or stolen. The most practical compromise is to manage the customer’s keys for them and basically promise to not use those keys for nefarious purposes.

Whenever i see videos of people doing it, it makes my blood boil. My ipad undeleted some old photos and put them first when i was looking for an image to put in discord. All the old photos it undeleted shared a theme (video game, relax) so im wondering if apple is cataloguing our images even when all settings are off. Edit: they were not cloud saved as i have icloud turned off and they were pretty old
Probably some sort of "trash can" folder
Likely it is a file system error where an old os version used a different file location leaving an old cached version in storage that was never overwritten and invisible until this iOS update "found" them again.

Could the ios "finding" old deleted files be an issue where an old cache, trash can or on device backup was never overwritten?
Maybe it was invisible or in a different file structure in a previous ios version and never overwritten but this ios version somehow "found" it again.
"They said they did" is the point to question when talking about wiping a device or when deleting files, there is a good chance that the storage isn't actually being deleted to save nand wear.
This inevitably is the problem with not having user accessible file systems on mobile devices.

It's insane how much better the experience on windows is when you use it (and set it up) with a local user account rather than a microsoft account.
In case of warranty replacement the best I have had are sandisk/wd and Alienware (not dell, specifically Alienware)... Back when phones had sd card slots, apparently the gallery keep reading and writing in the sd card so much that it runs through it's life cycle pretty fast.. Had 2 cards rma'ed without any hitch.. Only the courier time +1 week for processing. Alienware before the pandemic has something like a 48hr deadline within which an on site engineer comes and replaces your motherboard or SSD or whatever is wrong, again no worries.. We liked it so much that we extended our Alienware warranty till 5 years after which the device was EOL from them.. It's still working though.. 2016 model..

I have a genuine question. Is LMG still sour about Gamers Nexus exposé on them that they refuse to talk about them at all? Gamers Nexus did an amazing exposé on this ASUS issue that has so much more to unpack and discuss on the WAN show, but it seems that LMG refuses to acknowledge Gamers Nexus.

The problem is, it would bring back more haters again. Just go to the pcmasterrace subreddit and start to talk about him. They treat them as bad as Userbenchmark. There was a guy who posted that he also forgot to remove the plastic film from his mouse and only found out 8 months later. Guess what? They all defended him and pretty much literally said "LTT may have done the same and it only was for a few hours, but in your case it's ok." (ignoring the fact of him not noticing it for months) Their double standard and sucking GN C**k game is just too terribly big.

Furthermore I believe "wipe" is a bit ambiguous and certain users would assume wiping and deleting are the same thing.

QUESTION: To what extent was Apple restoring images to devices? Because they may have a larger legal issue than they realize. For instance, there are "photos" to people being victimized, like some types of photos about "People who sound like they might dig resources out of the dirt" that they, their parents/guardians, and/or law enforcement may have asked to be permanently deleted for the obvious reasons. As a parent, if I found out these types of photos of my child were resurfacing, I'd be dialing up a lawyer ASAP.
2:55 so to be clear, this is actually not a cloud provider issue as far as I understand the bug. People are having photos that have never been saved to their iCloud library show up. What’s happening from what I understand. Is that when you delete something on a ssd it actually doesn’t delete it, instead its marked it as available without actually deleting the data and then as needed, it will overwrite it with new information. Because the information is still there, it is possible to recover it as long as it hasn’t been over written. What this bug is doing is it is pulling photos that were marked as deleted in the flash but not over written and restoring them.
Well for the first time, Apple didn’t lie “WHAT YOU DO ON YOUR IPHONE, STAYS ON YOUR IPHONE”… Deleted images reappearing, is that in its truest form 😂

Why is LTT ignoring GN?
I wonder how big a story GN will have to break before they will be mentioned as a source on the WAN show. First EK now this Asus RMA thing, it's a bit cringe avoiding mentioning them in these stories. GN do great work standing up for consumers and shining a light on industry mal practice. Yes they called LTT out, but LTT held their hands up and changed for the better, that was great. This feels very petty.
That Byowave system is exactly what I want for PC gaming. I just want a _real_ joystick on my desk. WASD just can't compare for most games.

ICloud Photos coming back is likely data marked for deletion not syncing properly.
But the photos showing on other person’s device sounds like someone setting up a shared library incorrectly.
it's a much bigger issue than just not deleting things. i witnessed my gf's iphone se delete photos and videos to seemingly to make room for the update but then on the last update before switching to android all her videos pre 2019 were uninstalled despite having enough room for updating. this issue goes right down to the core of how apples operating system works, its amazing it works as well as it does but if you needed apple to make things reliable in the server space with their software, forget it, too convuluted.
