Hello, Max! If this is for recording, I recommend going the route of an omnidirectional condenser mic spaced about two feet from the congas themselves. That will allow for one mic to capture the entire set of congas well. If this is for live, that same setup could work, but you might experience feedback if there is a monitor in close proximity to the mic. In that situation, you can’t go wrong with a dynamic instrument microphone like an SM57.
