Bad news for Rekcowcski: Interior Design magazines are pushing green kitchens again. They didn’t learn from the 70s. Otherwise, some of things that you don’t understand have a very specific explanation: The EA Sims builds are heavily influenced by California architecture that you won’t ever see in Canada. The Spanish style houses with the part flat/part sloped roofs were very popular in California in the 30s. You said in Sunset Valley you don’t know what mission style architecture is, hence why you don’t understand why they have partial flat roofs. The cheap houses here were inspired by post-WWII modern California houses (look up the case study houses to learn more). And some of the ugly brown or green interiors were in style in California in the 60s and 70s. This doesn’t mean that the designs are worse or better (ugly is still ugly), but the Sims series was originally created by Californians, and so many of the reoccurring elements and designs (especially in Sunset Valley) are based on actual regional influences.
I am WELL AWARE that green is ‘coming back’ but I’m a fashion designer not a kitchen designer so I am unable to stop it ): Thank you for the information, I know a lot about post-war architecture, but unless is a classic six in New York, pre-war is my weak spot for sure.i guess it all makes sense, California has both the most beautiful and ugliest buildings I’ve ever seen in my life.
i LOVE LOVEE your build ranking videos, i'm having bad days and they are the only thing that making my day. Andd i think you should do Bridgeport nexttt:))💕
Me quietly sitting waiting for it to go on sale haha But seriously, I love that world and it’s on my radar. I bet there’s some interesting things going on there
yay episode 2 !! i love your build ranking videos and been waiting for this one! roaring heights for next maybe? 👀 the four pillars house is super cool in concept but the execution is underwhelming 😭 the entertainment area is so packed and unnaturally organized it irks me lmaooo
Ooooh roaring heights gets another vote it seems, right now it’s neck and neck with Bridgeport! A few for lunar lakes too, but I’m hoping whatever wins I don’t have to buy haha, I am still missing a couple worlds from my collection
@@Rekowcski Thanks for the video. It's nice to have good Sims 3 content on youtube. If you have all the EPs that give you towns, I think you should just review all of them.
6:45 okay I really hope that they did it on purpose to sort of make fun of the "rich straight dude" taste. I feel like, for the future videos, it would make sense to either take into consideration each household's story or don't take it at all - might as well check unoccupied houses in this case. Also, Roaring Heights might be a good candidate for the next video
I always read the bios before I pop in, sometimes I just don’t see relevance I guess. I originally was going to do unoccupied houses too, but that would be 4 episodes per world so I thought I would revisit the worlds in a couple years for JUST the unoccupied ones x Roaring heights is my favourite of the remaining worlds x
@@Rekowcski oh didn't know about that, sorry 😓 Yeah I would imagine there's a bunch of unoccupied houses, I like the idea of going through all of them at once
yes… a house that cost 2500 back then will cost you over 250k to build today, land price and permitting/prepping will cost you 250k alone, and then another 100k in material, and then work cost. it will probably be 650k by the end of it.
I love it!! You have a new subscriber :) and I hope you do Appaloosa Plains the next time since it's my favorite world haaha greetings from Barcelona (Spain)
Welcome I am always happy to win over new simmers haha Barcelona is one of my favourite cities ever! I’m stuck here in the cold white north of Canada haha
Hi, I'm new to your channel and somewhat new to Sims 3. I wonder, why do you dislike green so much? It doesn't surprise me since so many buildings in the Sims 3 have a style that is a mix of 60's through 80's which is weird. My grandmother had a bathroom that was all pink and green so I guess I find it a soothing color combination. I get very overwhelmed with the color wheel and most of my sims 3 builds look super bland can you post a tutorial video for mixing colors and styles? But i had a thought about the Modernista house. the furniture arrangement looks odd because everything is in 3's . because the guy is a gambler maybe and 3 is his lucky number? but also Sims 3? it seems like a very subtle joke on the part of the game devs.
It's not specfically green, although it's my least favourite colour... it's that EA feels the need to make 75% of it's bathrooms in a baby poo shade of green (see any base game build as an example)
@@Rekowcski is it possible they used green so much because of plumbobs? I mostly play sims 4 and the amount of items that are covered in plumbobs is maddening
You know, you could do a community lot series since you're finished with rating the houses. They're a bigger part of the game and actually impact the experience. You could rate them by aesthetic (theme, style, etc.) and functionality (number of things to do, routing issues, etc.).
I freaking loooove this series ❤️ and watching it I realized you're like a Michelle Visage of Sims builds 😂 you both hate the overusage of horrid green 💚
@@Rekowcski ANTM is amazing 😍 although once Tyra is no longer in it it has lost it's charm 🙈 the older seasons are the best 😅 anyways keep doing what you do because yoru videos are amazing 🙌
Also, the multiple two-tile accent tables jutting out into the middle of the floor? Better hope you never need to go into that room in the dark xD you’ll definitely stub a toe
That wall is the worst thing I’ve ever seen. McMansion wall lights to the extreme. Most EA builds have a minimum of 6 coffee tables all over the place. AND YES I actually built several sims 1 houses x I’m trying to make the sims 1 but in the sims 3 haha
21:58 this girl is kind of an apocalypse freak and her entire house is supposed to be a fortification, hence function over good looks. still could be done better, though, like a bunker-y looking concrete basement or something instead of all that wood everywhere
I forgot to comment about which world i would like you to review, Lunar Lakes if you would like or that dragon valley too. Thanks for this amazing videos you do i always enjoy them.
I don't know if is only where I love but... I never ever everrrrrr saw a green bathroom or green kitchen or even one entire bedroom in green. The same for yellow too, why those choices, ea? All the sims must be blind, so. In the end I like the ugly choices ea does in sims 2 ane even in sims 3, I tend to never change things or make minimal changes while the families grow. But I have exceptions, the Singles house and the Curious house too because they are unplayable! For the Curious house I keep everything in the same vibes but... I delete the NEON GREEN tiles in the bathroom and for the Singles house they live in avocado green and ikea stuff because they have no money.
Lucky Palms is the ideal world to renovate because the shells/exteriors are great IMO, but the interiors are awful. Not as bad as Sunset Valley's, but pretty bad nonetheless.
@@Rekowcski for the EAs the Aurora Skies has interesting dollhouses and Moonlight Falls has phenomenal victorian mansions. Hope to see atleast one of those soon!
Victorian mansions are my specialty, but it’s the only EP I don’t have bc I don’t like occult sims mixed in with my game... but my roommate has it so maybe I should pop in to check it out for everyone
Is there a good reason on why does the dining chairs aren't in the table? We have 6 dining chairs in our house even though there's only 3 of us in the house, but we don't put the dining chairs that we don't use at the side. Why does every build have some dining chairs kept on the sides? Is this just an American culture thing? It looks so odd 🤨
I so hope you are going to continue this series for other Sims 3 worlds. I really am enjoying it. I think the green this and that is a shout out to the plumbing! Still not pretty and I change it as fast as possible.
I don't quite understand why you always associate ochre with baby poo. It's popular range of colors for practical reasons. It's pretty cheap and easy to make these pigments, they're giving natural/earthy vibe, was used by a lot of painters along centuries, and it's probably the oldest pigments that humans use. I mean, I too prefer when ochre is more towards brown or red, than dark yellow, but sometimes I feel you're over dramatic, lol. These colors has been with people since prehistoric times. Luckily, creating other pigments is cheaper nowadays, but I don't think ochre will disappear completely. And despite they're not easy to use, I'm sure it can be done right in interiors.
*me enjoying usual rant about green bathrooms * SUDDEN REALIZATION THAT I HAVE A GREEN BATHROOM
I'm so sorry to hear that... no sarcasm intended.
