this world having such bad builds is depressing. it has rlly nice mission stuff and it goes SO underutilized, there are NOT enough mission style houses here :(( but of course i’m biased bc i adore mission stuff. there just shouldnt be so many basic american suburban houses ☹️☹️
I live in LA and was looking forward to Starlight Shores forever! I forgot what most of these builds looked like. Yes, mosquitos are outside my place at all times :/
this and into the future are the two expansions i've just never gotten. the careers and world never ~spoke~ to me! was really tickled by the thief house, i think the gigantic tv added a lot of personality. if only my klepto sims stole stuff like that on the reg. also in over a decade of playing sims 3 you've made me realize i've been using the bathroom sink in kitchens this whole time, i'd NEVER gone and read the sink names and just put it in kitchens because its the first one there LOL. i've stopped doing that now thank you rekowski.
It’s not your fault... they don’t make enough kitchen sinks anyway, you only have like 4 options total. Even James turner put a bathroom sink in his werewolf starter that comes with the game... very EA style he nailed it haha
I actually liked the mono mogul 😅 Edit: I think the tiny bedroom in Neoneuvo is where the workout stuff used to be, and the cars fit in the garage then, but they moved it all out for the bed for the couch crasher.
So what I'm seeing is that you don't like craftsmen bungalows. Little houses like those are all over Southern California along the coast and were built from the early 1900s-1930s as kit houses from places like Sears and Roebuck, Aladdin and others.
Ikr I didn’t mind the craftsman bungalow homes. They’re a bit redundant in this world and pretty lackluster, when in reality they have a lot of great details made of wood. Wish I saw some use of columns and halfwalls to add those details inside!
i understand, it just feels so 'sunset valley' if supposed to be hollywood-esque i was just expecting some more medi starters (they usually only do big houses spanish colonial style) or maybe something modern, chic and central... a few monochromatic missions is fine, but they're all over the place
my pet peeve abt this world is the fact that this is a superstar world but it's listed as suburban in the start screen lmao. i wish they put apartment lots in here!
Even more small Mediterranean houses would be better..I saw so many cute ones in LA! But yeah, they should have given us a couple apartments like how they did with eco lifestyle in sims 4. Not an apartment pack.. just an option to live in
I am surprised that only have 3 modern styles and 1 Mediterranean so far and many, many suburbans. I guess Starlight Shores is not as glamorous as I thought. Now I know how it has been in the polls for so long and never win until now hahah. I just noticed that they have a lot of detached garages than attached.
I think it’s good that the interior design is ugly because that’s what makes the sims realistic. People in real life have horrible taste too where they mix mustard color couch with purple curtains. For example, my grandma’s kitchen has mint green walls. It’s a part of life.
I was kinda disapointed when this EP came out. There was no boardwalk lot from trailer anywhere in this town, and other venues seemed boring and mismatched. The gameplay seemed more inspiring and giving more emotion in trailer. The town seemed to be burnt out by many things - maybe it was renting prices, maybe the feeling of hopelessness of not being able to become a star, or not being famous and rich enough. I think it was already the era of instagram and influencers stuff. Residents of this town may not felt that way, cause they're colorful and had their own individual features, but grey and depressing houses mirrored that hopeless and dull part of living in city like this, where all is about fame and money. There's not even much houses for family type of gameplay, the town itself doesn't even have any central park for family activities. Also the sims who are stage artists are usually low income, spend their whole day by "singing telegrams" or doing performance on the streets that nobody even care about, and they seems to irritating most of players most of the time. The whole concept just get lost somewhere, and gameplay seems to be more depressing comparing to the trailer. Maybe it's more realistic, but I doubt it was intentional.
i think those are all fair criticisms, to be honest youre right, it is more realistic... but likely not on purpose. I still prefer this style, but it is missing some things like a walk of fame, and like you said, a central park for family activities
Recowcski: Oh my God I didn't even see this Me: Ikr?? There's just a huge obnoxious bright yellow arrow sign just in the living... Recowcski: look at this GREEN KITCHEN!!!!
Lovely to have you back 😀 I've binge watch all you're videos I see Kyle chilling in the background love it. You made me giggle to myself when you said.....powder that goes on your nose with the vanity unit and the fact that EA doesn't use bath combo's but bathtubs oor the cheapest shower units in the game packs. Well I'm looking forward to your part 2 of Starlight Shores and keep it coming 😉 😀
Mine too... I like how it’s not THAT big (still 10x bigger than a sims 4 world, mind you), and I like how there are several different styles of house to choose from, so you can just put an empty lot near the style you want to live in, but of course, build your own gah
id love to see you design houses you love/hate from across all of the different towns when you finish this series. it would be so good to see how your style would change them :)
Handysims Dream looks fun and interesting to play and renovate too, like a rag to riches challenge. Is her surname Law? If it is is funny. Keep up with your great work with this videos, i love them
i have two theories as to why this world is so "older worlds-ish". 1: it seems like most of the houses were built first, and then the sims were created (e.g two girls loving yellow w nothing yellow in their house) 2. this POSSIBLY might've been planned as the third expansion world. It is so similar to what EA used to do for their builds in 2009-11 that its leading me to believe that either showtime was planned to be the 3rd expansion originally or this world was supposed to be shipped with late night instead. I have no proof for this but it makes a lot of sense when you take the builds/world into account
I love this series so much, really getting me back into TS3! When you're done with all the EA worlds would you do custom worlds? Just curious if that's something you'd consider :) Also do you have a link to your discord? the last time I tried to join the link was expired.
discord.gg/KuDd4yAE i will likely switch to a different sims game, or just do the empty/starter houses in the sims 3 worlds, i dont think i'll discuss custom worlds though
Watching your videos has gotten me to delete my CC so I can play again. Thank you for getting me to find my love for this game again. The couple in Lucky Springs, the older man and super young girl :) that is a fun household, you should play them :) :)
This world's builds were the most disappointing to me. I liked your review alot. The commentary was spot on. ☀ btw-did you notice the grey, stormy looking sky that was going on as you showed the outsideof eternal estate? That was really cool.
I always use a lighting mod from “brntwaffles”. Just google them and pick one you think looks pretty! They’re all good just make sure you only have 1 in your game at a time
Hi Rekowcski, (formerly TS95 Studios here). A little late to the game, but wow, I can't believe how bland the lots in Starlight Shores are. Having been to LA in the past, even some of the middle to lower income houses look better and have more character than a lot of these. What the heck was EA trying to reference when building?
yes, i think the grey mission houses could have been diversified with some medi style starter houses... maybe a fun colour like orange or something, think sims 4 swatches we get some good builds in part two, however they are mansions not the lower cost houses we all love
Hey friend. You have inspired me to renovate the Landgraab Estate. I finished it too. It's furnished but not occupied by the Landgraabs. They moved out, don't know why. The Altos did likewise too. So I am the only resident of the richest part of the neighborhood. So when my sims grew up. I moved some into the LE mansion. I do love the single story homes you've rated. Gives me an idea.
The only EP of Sims 3 that I do not own, and will likely never own (unless EA puts out a complete Sims 3 collection with massive patch updates or gives it out for free), and while you do love the idea of the fame aspect, I felt this should have been included in Late Night (especially, the singers, so they could perform in bands). With that said, I would have only be interested in the acrobats (would have preferred gymnasts, and perhaps Olympic game competitions including some other favorite Olympic events), and magicians could have been store content or a Stuff pack. Ergo, for me (and I own the entire Sims 3 store, as well as all other EPs and Stuff packs, except Katy Perry's Sweet Treats, for it being overpriced and nonsensical content), I am interested in you can sell me on the builds enough to cave into a sale. And though I am just at the beginning (you just rated the first house),the aspect you hated most, I kinda liked (I think of it fitting for and evil person with that many enemies, boldly saying, "I am willing to die to sting my foes"), although, yet not quite enough to reel me in, so I shall see where this leads me. 🤷♀️
So, after watching the first part, I am not wowed enough with the builds to want to buy Showtime, although I would have rated some of them higher, not because I like the color schemes, but because they do seem to fit the sims. Also, I have lived in many houses and apartments throughout the US (not LA, because it's too expensive), and many places have the fridge and oven placed next to each other. While I agree, it is not aesthetically pleasing, nor has the best functional purpose, I do think because both require higher voltage outlets (unless the stove is gas), it is due to builders cutting costs, as well as more efficient for home owners/renters, having fewer high powered outlets (which are usually consolidated to one circuit, per high voltage outlet). Although, the outlet could be placed behind a cabinet, separating the two, unfortunately, that adds an additional fire hazard to the mix (and that is what caused a family fire when a storm downed a tree into our electrical wiring, as the fire started in between the stove and fridge, because of the dust build up behind the cabinet, which was inaccessible to maintain without, continuously ripping out the cabinet).
YES!!YES!! This was my fourth bough dlc ever, and I always had so much fun with it! At the time I did not think the world was that ugly but...Yuck. Looks questionable now.
What is your favorite pack? What expension packs would you recommend to starters? 🙈 I am 20 and I grew up with the Sims 3 on the Wii but the Sims 3 seems more fun than sims 4.
Don’t buy any sims 4 packs haha. If you like one sim with a career, choose ambitions. If you like a family with kids, then generations might be a good idea. Each EP has a lot of content so u can buy them 1 at a time.
@@Rekowcski Thanks for saying! Cus I often got dissapointed whenever I played a new Sims 4 pack. And a lot of things about the Sims 3 seems better honestly! Thanks for the advice!
truly they had the opportunity to make an amazing copy of LA/hollywood. however they failed egregiously. they failed again in 2017 when making the sims 4 get famous, when they had nearly like 7 years to copy gta v or literally go outside their offices and see what california looked like? both versions of their attempts at recreating this city really frustrate me. so much wasted potential for an accurate representation of the city, again gta v is a perfect example. they really missed their chance with the residential homes and architecture. hollywood is just such an iconic place and they royally fucked it up so bad TWICE!!!!!!!!!! stan twice
when sims 1 is the most accurate representation so far also where the hell is santa monica??? it's missing in every game, there isn't even a beach in sims 4
SOmething I noticed EA did a lot in the sims 3, was place windows backwards. The window latch a lot of the time is on the outside rather than the inside
I'm going through a Sims phase but I only have a laptop to play 3 on so anytime I decide I wanna play I really have to commit to the idea because it's gonna take AGES to load shit up so I'm watching your videos in-between loading screens. I'm here for the green hate 🤣 I was thinking maybe they put it everywhere because of the plumbobs the Sims have?
@@Rekowcski my godmother had a light green toilet and matching bidet AND bathtub in her summer house but that's about the only place I think I've seen them in real life. I've definitely seen a green fridge too but I can't remember when. But literally that's about it 😂
I remember finding Starlight Shores very uninspiring when I first got the pack. I was very excited to try out the new professions (esp. singer); but after seeing the world, I decided to try out in good old Bridgeport instead. Unlike this town; B.port has that feeling of a busy, cramped city and makes a really obvious distinction between the poor and rich parts of the town. Which makes the whole journey of fame a lot better!
what's with all the poorly arranged furniture??? like the couches not being center and angled im so confused lmao and there is so much wasted space... the rooms that are "done" are crammed then theres empty space surrounding them... their ability to space things out properly is awful.
I totally agree. If you have watched other episodes... some houses literally look like a furniture store, not an actual person’s house. Chairs and couches in a “Tetris” formation. And of course some in bizarre colours that aren’t even pretty
If you have ever played bustin out the prospect house reaaaally reminds me of tinsel bluffs. I found this world really underwhelming over all even playing it just got boring after a while
Oh, yes! I've been waiting for Starlight Shores for quite some time. Thank you! You and Kyle are stunning as always, even when this furry is quietly sleeping somewhere on the side.)
@@Rekowcski Well well well.. those colournames are just fancier names for what colours? .. Let's hear it.. reeeed.. come on you can do it.. whiiiiite.. and..
I don’t hate green... I just hate EA greens and more specifically WHERE they choose to put green. I like deeper ones like jade and emerald colours. A green wall? I get it... a green toilet, mailbox and windows.... WHY? Lol
i really like showtime, but the world always felt so uninspiring to me, even without looking at the builds... it just looks so empty outside of the main street? and considering you pretty much have to live in it if you want to play with fame professions makes me never do it even if i would like to... sims living there are cool tho, and even will wright is there which i find interesting
I kinda like the world because its so drab and ugly. And depressing. I am a bit biased because I grew up with a dislike for rich celebs, especially once I found youtube. I also just like depressing stuff, considering I constantly play in Quailhogs' worlds
this pack is apparently the 2nd worst (island paradise being the 1st) and idk the buildings and style are so pretty but i don’t wanna waste money on it…
Idk, I never liked this world to be honest. Everything is scattered all over the place, but at the same time, the center of the town is an ugly clutter. It takes forever for sim to get anywhere, there's no really nice lots to send sims in my opinion, the "main" park is ugliest I've seen. I hate how the green of grass collides with an absolutely horrible cement light gray buildings. What kind of saves the visuals are the outsides of some private properties, but that doesn't matter because they're far on the corners of the map. Idk, this town is the worst in the game imo, so ugly interiors don't surprise me :V. But also, I don't really get why you're complaining about boring and uninspiring builds, that's kind of what they're supposed to be. Most of the houses in real life are boring and uninspiring, very often just a one big rectangle :0.
this world having such bad builds is depressing. it has rlly nice mission stuff and it goes SO underutilized, there are NOT enough mission style houses here :(( but of course i’m biased bc i adore mission stuff. there just shouldnt be so many basic american suburban houses ☹️☹️
these ones are like... diet mission :(
I remember loving a house in starlight shores but watching the video I just realize I was the one who built the house when I saw the lot empty 😂
Empty lots are the best lots that EA can provide us haha
I live in LA and was looking forward to Starlight Shores forever! I forgot what most of these builds looked like. Yes, mosquitos are outside my place at all times :/
The second half is in another league.. don’t worry they actually do a few nice things later on
nothing like coming home from work and watching Rekowcski roast some ugly EA builds ❤❤
i agree... nothing like coming home from work to yell at ugly ea builds
I agree 100% :D
I always felt like Starlight Shores felt much smaller than it should have, and it didn't feel like a convincing place.

Next episode has all the pretty, dont worry x
5:26 The front of the Christmas tree VS the back of the Christmas tree
That’s a perfect analogy... this is why I always put Christmas trees in a corner hah
I told you all these houses were bad xD I see what they were going for, but the majority missed the mark
you warned me... i wasnt expecting my favourite numbers to be 3 and 4 lol
Thanks for the advice!
truly they had the opportunity to make an amazing copy of LA/hollywood. however they failed egregiously. they failed again in 2017 when making the sims 4 get famous, when they had nearly like 7 years to copy gta v or literally go outside their offices and see what california looked like? both versions of their attempts at recreating this city really frustrate me. so much wasted potential for an accurate representation of the city, again gta v is a perfect example. they really missed their chance with the residential homes and architecture. hollywood is just such an iconic place and they royally fucked it up so bad TWICE!!!!!!!!!! stan twice
when sims 1 is the most accurate representation so far
also where the hell is santa monica??? it's missing in every game, there isn't even a beach in sims 4
SOmething I noticed EA did a lot in the sims 3, was place windows backwards. The window latch a lot of the time is on the outside rather than the inside
I have to laugh again and again because of the bookshelf :D once again a great and entertaining video, thanks for that
they put 1 and it looked awful, so they decided to put a second to balance it out i bet
Probably, if you multibly minus you get plus, maybe that was their train of thougts... (sorry, im from germany, hope this sentence make sense)
I understand exactly what you mean, I love math humour
I'm going through a Sims phase but I only have a laptop to play 3 on so anytime I decide I wanna play I really have to commit to the idea because it's gonna take AGES to load shit up so I'm watching your videos in-between loading screens. I'm here for the green hate 🤣 I was thinking maybe they put it everywhere because of the plumbobs the Sims have?
Some people have suggested that, and I think it's the most logical answer. But toilets? whyyyyy lol
@@Rekowcski my godmother had a light green toilet and matching bidet AND bathtub in her summer house but that's about the only place I think I've seen them in real life.
I've definitely seen a green fridge too but I can't remember when. But literally that's about it 😂
i have been waiting for dis 1
Can’t wait for this for other sims games once you are done 😍
Not sure if I’ll do sims 2 or 4 next, maybe I’ll put it to a vote
@@Rekowcski yes a vote would be fun! I think people will go for Sims 2, but who knows 😍
@@emmaA- i dont even know how to structure sims 4 to be honest... most episodes i like 10-15 builds, and thats more than most sims 4 worlds :/
@@Rekowcski I understand! Hoping for Sims 2 then ✌🏼
33:42 there's a garbage disposal in the counter next to the stove!
Ugh see this is the problem with create a style... you can make thing match “too much” haha
Quaint Cottage i love it too! It is my kind of grandma haha and she has a purple car too
I thought it was one of the best, the shell and landscaping were great and the inside looked like grandmas house with a grandsons bedroom haha
EA needs to hire you already 👏🏼👏🏼
😂
Not that I'm not enjoying these videos but where's the next part for Not So Berry? 😱
If you have ever played bustin out the prospect house reaaaally reminds me of tinsel bluffs. I found this world really underwhelming over all even playing it just got boring after a while
I played it years ago, I know what you mean. The second half is more inspiring though, they saved all the pretty stuff for last haha
Oh, yes! I've been waiting for Starlight Shores for quite some time. Thank you!
You and Kyle are stunning as always, even when this furry is quietly sleeping somewhere on the side.)
he makes a more prominent appearance in the next episode!
@@Rekowcski, 🐈 ❤ 🐈
41:16 Oh yeah? And the room you are sitting in has what colours?
teal, magenta and dandelion, suck it
@@Rekowcski Well well well.. those colournames are just fancier names for what colours? .. Let's hear it.. reeeed.. come on you can do it.. whiiiiite.. and..
i love this town and bridgeport.
love the thumbnail
Thank you, I thought it’s a good analogy for looking at a sims 3 EA build
It’s my favourite too! I love it🤩🤩🤩
Green is my favorite color but at least make it like a forest green and not bright fucking lime
I don’t hate green... I just hate EA greens and more specifically WHERE they choose to put green. I like deeper ones like jade and emerald colours. A green wall? I get it... a green toilet, mailbox and windows.... WHY? Lol
@@Rekowcski i agree
what lighting mod do you use???
i use a variety, but they are all from (or based from) brntwaffles
thank you.
i really like showtime, but the world always felt so uninspiring to me, even without looking at the builds... it just looks so empty outside of the main street? and considering you pretty much have to live in it if you want to play with fame professions makes me never do it even if i would like to... sims living there are cool tho, and even will wright is there which i find interesting
the sims backstories are really fleshed out, i was impressed... everyone has enemies haha
I've never played with Starlight Shores before. Showtime overall just didn't appeal to me. Thanks for providing me with further confirmation bias.
I need to mention that if you want to live in a drama filled world where the sims hate each other and sleep with everyone, SS is perfect for that haha
Yellow and black in the begining I think they tried to accomplish gold and black
Call me weird, I like to recreate some of the sims 3 houses in the sims 4. This world looks like it has to good challenging ones to remake.
I do the opposite. I have multiple houses in sims 3 that are from the other games haha
This pack does not feel complete without late night celebrity system which is probably why it ranks so low.
I really wish that the singing career and the late nite bands were more compatible :(
I kinda like the world because its so drab and ugly. And depressing.
I am a bit biased because I grew up with a dislike for rich celebs, especially once I found youtube.
I also just like depressing stuff, considering I constantly play in Quailhogs' worlds
I've always wanted to be a rich celebrity but honestly being a RUclipsr with rent money is a blessing enough in the 2020s haha
I'm high as a kite and i gave the first house a 10, what does it says about me
I love how colourful the second house is
LOL! Best (anti) drug ad ever "i gave an ugly EA house a 10"
if you want to start off with an actual 10, you will enjoy part 2 haha
All of these houses, as ugly as they might be, are more interesting and have more storytelling than any EA Build in the sims 4...
You speak nothing but truth ❤️
lol to the thumbnail
Sims Sims 3 loves Katy Perry
i wish she lived in starlight shores haha
How it's even a pack? It's so stupid...hated it and continue hating
Or not a pack - add-on or anything whatever. it's ugly anyway
Is it uglier than twinbrook?
We shall let the math tell us after the next episode x
@@Rekowcski cant wait to see part 2
Here for ittt
this pack is apparently the 2nd worst (island paradise being the 1st) and idk the buildings and style are so pretty but i don’t wanna waste money on it…
it's my second (maybe 3rd) favourite expansion pack, but everyone likes different things... it's not for everyone :x
Most of the houses in real life are boring and uninspiring, very often just a one big rectangle :0.
this series fuels me and fills me with rage
