Spider-Man: No Way Home is a 2021 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man, co-produced by Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing. It is the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), and the 27th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film was directed by Jon Watts and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. It stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker / Spider-Man alongside Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jacob Batalon, Jon Favreau, Jamie Foxx, Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina, Benedict Wong, Tony Revolori, Marisa Tomei, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire. In the film, Parker asks Dr. Stephen Strange (Cumberbatch) to use magic to make his Spider-Man identity a secret again following its public revelation at the end of Far From Home. When the spell goes wrong, the multiverse is broken open which allows supervillains and heroes from alternate realities to enter Parker's universe.
A third MCU Spider-Man film was planned during the production of Homecoming in 2017. Negotiations between Sony and Marvel Studios to alter their deal-in which they produce the Spider-Man films together-ended with Marvel Studios leaving the project in August 2019, but a negative fan reaction led to a new deal between the companies a month later. Watts, McKenna, Sommers, and Holland were set to return, and filming took place from October 2020 to March 2021 in New York City and Atlanta. No Way Home features several actors reprising their roles from the earlier, non-MCU Spider-Man films that were directed by Sam Raimi and Marc Webb. The return of previous Spider-Man actors Maguire and Garfield was the subject of wide speculation and numerous leaks despite the efforts of Sony, Marvel, and the cast to conceal their involvement.
Spider-Man: No Way Home premiered at the Fox Village Theatre in Los Angeles on December 13, 2021, and was theatrically released in the United States on December 17, as part of Phase Four of the MCU. The film received positive reviews from critics, who praised the story, direction, action sequences, and the cast's performances and chemistry. No Way Home has grossed over $1.3 billion worldwide, surpassing Spider-Man: Far From Home as the highest-grossing film released by Sony Pictures. It became the highest-grossing film of 2021, the 12th highest-grossing film of all time, and set several other box office records including for films released during the COVID-19 pandemic. A sequel is in development.

@@bbdrix23 you correlated Spider-Man kicking Ock to the MIT lady, the only way that could at all be relevant is if he kicked Ock after she already screamed; if we went with the whole being motivated to save people somehow nerfs you in combat. So why is your major point relevant if an angry Tom on the offensive kicked Ock to a lesser degree than Tobey if the MIT lady only screamed for Tom after that kick?
The moment Andrew fixed Tobey's back marked the end of all the Spider-Man villains.
Also Tobey let Goblin stab him in the back in the final fight scene to ensure he killed the nerves in his back so even if his back problems return he won't feel it.

People forget that Norman in both his fight with Tom was never in his “prime”. What I mean is he hardly used his gadgets against Tom in a 1v1. He never used his pumpkin bombs consistently or more or less Tom never took one straight to the face. The closest thing we see is when he pushes to pumpkin bomb away from May but even then the explosion looks like it went off near his chest where the Iron Spider logo was which adds more protection. He never had to deal with the goblin razor bats, the glider’s machine gun fire and Norman compared to when he fought Tobey looks more like he was playing around with him compared to when he fought Tobey where he wanted to actively take him out.
Another point that people don’t bring up is that Tobey at the time he fought Norman was very inexperienced compared to Tom. Tom at this point fought against super soldiers, he fought against villains, and aliens etc. however with Tobey this was his first fight against a superpowered being at the time and still did better on his first 2 fights (the parade, and the burning building) than Tom did. In his third fight Tobey had to deal with saving multiple kids and MJ, get thrown through a building and then taking a pumpkin bomb to the face wearing basically his Pajamas. No Stark tech, no years of experience, no 3D printed suit, just his own raw strength against a pissed goblin going all out.

Idk my thoughts on it are this: if people are unwilling to scale comic book Spider-Man to those characters even tho his high end scaling is far more frequent and consistent to them, then why would they expect us to use that scaling to Tom’s Spider-Man. Also keep in that the Thanos feats are all over that place as in that same movie characters like Peter Quill have also punched Thanos hurting him, and even Captain America staggered Thanos in infinity war. It’s a weird argument. If Peter goes from knocking himself out by hitting his head on the ceiling to hurting Thanos, then by that scaling that should also apply to doc ock who was fighting and besting that same Iron Spider suit to the point the nanotech was falling off of tom with each strike. So does that mean Doc Ock is some what relative to characters like Thor and Thanos? It’s more suspension of disbelief imo.
did you forget that green goblin literally bodyslammed tom through 6 floors? and if he would've used the pumpkin bombs in the apartment he would've killed them all. and green goblin did toy with toby, he toys with every victim or hero he comes across. that's his thing.
He immediately bested Andrew and was able to physically stop and enraged Tom, that was the movie letting us know who’s on top.

I always felt Maguire was the strongest and most experienced Spider-Man. He has the advantage with unlimited web shooters and decades of experience and plus the most impressive acts.

A minor grip I had about NWH was it would he strengthened the film a bit if Maguire referenced a more recent fight he has that we didn't see. Like he fought IDK Tombstone or something random to show he is still at it 100%. I was going to say Kraven The Hunter but they probably couldn't have used that one.
I agree, also, it may like Colossus, he gets far stronger as he ages and matures. Since he has had more time to assess his power levels.

Tom is mounted vertically around the mans neck, pause, if he were back to floor then ofc much difference is being *allowed* to repeatedly punch someone in the face multiple times while laughing. You could apply force via feet to a stable surface in aiding your ground to stable your force especially when using leverage with the ability to lean a bit more back.

Tom tried to kill Norman with his own glider, thrusting it in a down-words angle towards Norman, meaning he was using all his weight and he was upset he was so he was also using his full strength. However Toby managed to catch it and prevent Tom from pushing it any further.
If that don’t show you who’s stronger then you’re just forcing it.

One of the main reasons they had Tobey's Peter stop MCU from killing Norman was to demonstrate how much stronger he is. In a test of strength, Tobey's Peter clearly had the edge.

I don't know why so many people read into that scene so much. You need to keep in mind that they both have superhuman strength, so regardless of what Tom was doing, Tobey would have been able to stop it. It does not prove that he's the strongest.
That's also definitely not the reason they had Tobey stop Tom like that. It was because he's the oldest, with the clearest mind. Andrew's Peter had gotten bitter by this point. They mention this.

I would even argue that Spider-Man 3 Tobey (even without the black suit) was actually the strongest he has been as he's quite a bit older in NWH and probably past his prime at that point. Tobey's Spidey probably started to show signs of slowing down in NWH due to his age while still wiping the floor with the other two in comparison.
I honestly don't even know why some people argue about the power of the 3 live action Spideys. Tobey's is definitely the strongest, fastest and most durable of the three.

Of course we don't have proof of that but I think it would make sense to assume that he got atleast a little rusty. There was also that funny scene where he had slight back issues so I guess he hasn't been totally unfazed after all these years as Spidey.

Bro tobey is LITERALLY spider man. He produces his own webs, crawls walls without any equipment, etc. Dude is physically spiderman, making him physically the strongest.
That would imply that he’s physically stronger than earth 616 spider-man which is the comic book one. Who doesn’t have natural web fluid. But if the comic spider-man fights Toby’s spider-man the comic spider-man would win. Having natural web fluid isn’t what makes someone spider-man. The other two live action spider-men have the ability to climb up walls as well. That’s not a good argument as of if he’s stronger.

For me I'd say: Strength and durability goes to Tobey no doubt; Agility, acrobatics and swinging I'd say goes to Andrew; and Tom is the most versatile of the three due to his technology and other gadgets.
Tom is the most versatile because I'd argue that he has the best spider sense. Having teamwork with the Avengers and fighting Mysterio that forces him to enhance his Peter tingle and the result was he detected Green Goblin changing persona.

That Sword Vigor is one shot fking insta kill to anything and it's confirmed in the comics. He'd wash a lot of spider-man versions let alone mcu.
One thing that stood out to me was how in Homecoming, Karen stated that a fall from the top of the Washington monument would be most likely be lethal to Tom. Compare this to Spider-Man 2 when tobey gets his “web block” mid swing and falls from an extreme height on two occasions (hard to say how far but at least a similar height to the Washington monument, if not taller) and he gets back up instantly looking more annoyed than hurt. Ik there are plenty of other examples to prove that tobey is far more durable than Tom but this one came to my mind when I was rewatching Homecoming. That being said, Tom did survive the fall when vulture dropped him into that lake. And at that speed, hitting water would be like hitting concrete.
While I do agree Tobey > Tom, I wouldn’t use Karen’s word like that, as she most likely did not fully understand Tom’s true strength and it would be lethal for a normal human.

I think of it this way: Toby transformed far more when he became Spiderman than Andrew or Tom. The proof being that Toby changed to the extent that his body actually made and shot webbing. As part of this greater transformation, his strength and durability also increased far more too.

To be fair, pound per pound i think they have the same strenght. Its just that tobey seems slightly muscular than the others, making him stringer in general. Im biasing on the whole " strenght proportional to a spider" tho.

@@marcobrusas2001 it depends since the ferry feat is more od a endurance feat than a strength feat. With the fact that tom barely held the ferry before iron man saved him. And if we apply the feats from Tom and comapre it to tobey holding off tom from killing green goblin then we can assume that tobey is stronger.
@john Marston agreed. I seen a video of the ferry comparison to the train. But they didn't mention the fact Tom held the ferry for like a hot second before Ironman saved the day. And eventhough alot of Tom's webs broke before he held the ferry, there were still some holding.
@@marcobrusas2001 The Ferry wasn't a test of strength, it was endurance. Tom didn't try to pull both parts together, he tried to keep them from falling further apart. Not to mention, Tobey had to hold the train off for so long, while increasingly becoming weaker. Whereas, Tom, I don't think, could even hold the Ferry for over 10 seconds before Iron Man comes. The main difference is that, without help, Tom would have actually failed, which makes the Ferry scene a moot comparison all in all.
The one argument that proves Tobey’s Spider-Man is much more powerful than Tom’s is if you scale them around Goblin. Tobey was able to defeat Goblin heavily injured, taking a heavy beating from Goblin beforehand, was flinged by Goblin into the abandoned site at the height of the bridge at the speed of the glider, and tanked a pumpkin bomb to the face. Tom was injured as well but it’s safe to say that he wasn’t nearly as injured as Tobey. Tobey was still able to stop Goblin WHILE NOT bloodlusted, in contrast to Tom needing to be bloodlusted to stop Goblin. There is consistent proof that Tobey was able to best Goblin while not bloodlusted in their first fight at the concert, and at the burning building fight, while Tom was easily dominated by Goblin in their first fight. And we can’t assume in Tobey’s final fight that he was bloodlusted because there was never any indication of him determined to kill Goblin unlike Tom’s, I’d just say he was more determined after the MJ threat.
In brief, Tobey beat Goblin while being way more heavily injured than when Tom fought Goblin, with less “effort” in terms of bloodlust. In that fight too, Tom was having some difficulty while Tobey completely dominated Goblin after the MJ threat. Tobey > Tom.

Goblin still reacted to his attacks and dodged them. Tobey's fight with goblin was a completely different case. Tobey and goblin were pretty even in their first fight at Time square. Tobey destroyed goblin in their second fight. Tobey did get beaten a lot in the third fight but the moment goblin mentions MJ, Tobey ended the fight in just 11 hits. Keep in mind that goblin did have his helmet on when fighting Tobey.
I have mixed feelings with power-scaling since writers and directors aren't always thinking as in depth as power-scalers are. That said I do agree that Toby is the strongest, mostly because of the train.

I think they have same basic attributes but their improvements has something to do with their respective villains. Most of Tobey villains are more strength-based than Andrew and Tom villains, Andrew fighting Lizard and Electro demands him to be more accurate with his stunts and dodges, and Tom fighting Vulture and Mysterio (especially Mysterio) enhances his spider sense that he was able to detect Green Goblin changing personality.

I mean when you think of it, it checks out. The only villains Tom fought one on one and beat fair and square were vulture and mysterio which on their own, aren't very powerful. Toby took on Goblin, Doc ock, venom, a new green goblin, and sandman some at the same time. As it stands now, Tobey is definitely the strongest. He has the advantage of having natural webs and the knowledge that he can block up the other 2s web shooters. Casually holds back an enraged tom from impaling green goblin. He’s physically stronger than the others and wiser in battle since he was a bit older in his world by the time he comes into the MCU. That being said I do think that Tom will end up being the strongest (in terms of prime vs prime) later on as he gets older. He’s going up against these guys as a TEENAGER so imagine what he’d be like in his 30’s.

I tried to explain these theories to my Nephew but he loves andrew so much. Also i wanted to point out since his webs are organic. He can fight way longer than the other two if it was spider man vs spider man.
Brief in the movie andrew and toby fought they've never encounter each other before. Toby was able to quickly access his opponent combat abilities which is his web shooter.
Then proceed to web them not allowing andrew to use his web shooters anymore or break his web off easily.
The great thing about this movie is all the characters respect each other and help each other save the lives of these villains. They had a purpose and weren't trying to out play each other either, toby is the goat 100%

One thing you need to remember about 20:13 is that the space between the bars of the torch of the statue of liberty are wide enough for tobey to fit through to escape, he's done it in Spider-Man 2 when he slips through the tiny spaces of the walls of the bridge during the train fight. The reason he didn't in NWH is because doing so would lead Sandman back out, he needed to keep Sandman contained long enough to be able to administer the cure. Another thing to keep in mind is that during his insane beatdown on Norman in Spider-Man 1, he's STILL holding back, because we see Norman easily destroy the Goblin helmet in NWH, but in Spider-Man 1, Tobey's able to hold back just enough to the point it he doesn't break the helmet and still deals damaging blows to Norman's head.

Tobey has accomplished much greater feats which showcase his brute strength. Although Tom keeping the boat from falling apart was a major feat, stopping a train at top speed is far more impressive. Why does everyone say he held the ferry? He held only 2 webs the rest of the ferry was covered with webs from him and he didnt even hold it for 5 seconds before iron man came and saved him. Tobey literally held all the webs and stopped the train by himself in 1 minute or so

This is my opinion. Strength obviously goes to toby. Speed goes to Andrew. In my opinion Tom's spiderman has many options due to the technology at his disposal, meaning he can deal with different situations better than the others.
I'd agree with this, Strength and durability goes to Tobey no doubt, Agility, acrobatics and swinging I'd say goes to Andrew, and Tom is the most versatile of the three due to his technology and other gadgets.

The fact that Tobey (while holding back, and not really fighting back until he was on his glider, but still holding back) managed to take attacks from New Goblin (who is on par with his father Norman, if not stronger and has more rage) who is enraged and has the intent to kill him, and still managed to knock him out, and taking attacks from sandman while being restraint by venom, and then seconds later can move just fine despite nearly being killed to death (and stated that both his battle venom and sandman are far the toughest fight he ever had, making them stronger than new goblin, who is on par if not stronger than his father, who manages to damages Tom Holland who is also holding back ) proves that Tobey is physically the strongest/powerful, has most endurance and has the most experienced out of the two live action Spider-man

I absolutely agree not only does Tom struggle even while at full strength, and with the assist of the iron spider armor, but, not only is Toby, actively losing his powers, mentally and physically fatigued, but when he pulls himself out of the cops arms, he’s also doing so from a weaker position of leverage and the force at which he does so pulls the desks so hard that they knock duck out, clean through the window

In the original spider-man movies, Aunt May had a significant role in Peter's development and she had many scenes with Tobey Maguire's Peter. In MCU movies however, the attention was never given to Aunt May. Iron-Man and then Happy were mentors of Peter in the first two movies, respectively. Suddenly the writers tried to emphasize the role of Aunt May in the third movie but apparently, they failed to form the basis of it and it looked weird.

The fact Tom's spidey could be handled by Norman in single combat is very telling. When Norman fought against spiderman, "Green Goblin" was telling Norman the only way to defeat spiderman was to attack his heart. In other words, he had to take people hostage to fight Tobey's spiderman because he knew he would likely lose a straight-up battle. He had to severely demoralize and emotionally exhaust him first.

Toms spider sense works when it wants to. As with each spidey. But andrew or tobeys spider sense is leagues better.
Such a well executed video and argument for Tobey’s strength! Even with such a thorough analysis there are some things that I remembered from toms tenure that can add more evidence to show Tobey is stronger. Tom relies more on technology as Spider-Man which is also cool but allows for him to have to use less formal combat like Tobey does. Even in Tom’s first fight in No way home he takes down Doc Ock using the iron spider suits nano tech,as you mentioned in the video, but that fight is only one instance of his reliance on tech. Tom when fighting the vulture wasn’t strong enough to pull the vulture down and had to resort to using taser webs. When toms Peter had to fight vulture later on the beach(mind you he did fall off a moving plane that crashed on the beach 20 seconds before) he didn’t fare nearly as well without his enhanced suit. Tobey’s spider man had defeated Norman Osborn within the first year of having his powers as they were not fully developed. Tom who has been Spider-Man fighting in action for at least 2 years, he was 17 in this movie and was 15 in civil war, didn’t do much damage to Norman and certainly didn’t do nearly as much damage as Tobey did in his final battle with Norman. You also mentioned bloodlusts of the two Spider-Men. Tobey in his bloodlust could beat toms in both ways. We know thanks to endgame that Peter not only has a natural bloodlust but also a built in one called instant kill mode. We only see it used in homecoming and endgame but from what I watched and read it can make his webs stronger/more dense and shoot at a faster speed as well as impale people with his spider legs. In this state Tom has slightly increased speed and more artificial strength that only has the intent to kill. We saw it in action as it took down some aliens in endgame but still Peter had to retreat after being overwhelmed. This is another instance of Tom’s Peter relying on tech in the heat of a battle. That being said Tobey’s bloodlust saw him not only defeat the green goblin with ease but also battle dock ock at the end of Spider-Man 2 when he saw the threat he was posing to Mary Jane. He also defeated dock ock with ease right before having to go back and save Mary Jane. Overall the natural strength exhibited by Tobey without the reliance on tech shows how his take on Spider-Man uses more natural strength. He can also take on tom’s bloodlust in its natural form(as seen when Tobey was stopping Tom from killing Norman Osborn) and I believe in instant kill mode as well. Overall I think Tobey’s take on spider man would match up alongside the avengers a lot better judging that he is stronger than toms and could take on and maybe even defeat hero’s such as Captain America and Black panther. I would love to hear how you think Tobey would match up against other mcu threats and other avengers/hero’s in the mcu. Drop somewhere I could text or dm youd so I can hear your perspective on this.

Keep in mind that Tobey was giving green goblin a good fight and this is a Tobey spider man who doesn't have much experience with his powers and was still learning and growing, whereas Tom's spider man was getting wrecked in his first encounter with green goblin who wasn't even wearing a helmet, and this is a spider man who has more experience up to that point than tobey did in his first movie.
Jese!! You made a 40 min video on it!!i can't watch it at once but definitely gonna complete it! You definitely have done hard work for this vedio, no doubt.
I just want to make some points:
1. They were still a few webs holding the ship together when he started to hold the ship himself but when Iron Man came they did all break at that point. Also, Tom isn’t holding the full weight of the ship, only two halves from falling over which decreases the weight a lot. Then the water resistance which decreases the weight again as if there was no water there then it would be full force gravity and that’d be much harder. Lastly the ship is moving apart at a slow pace because of the water and when Tom jumps in to ‘hold’ it together the ship is still moving away at the same speed until Iron Man shows up; which means he technically wasn’t holding the ship together.
2. Speed is always over weight, I really want to do the maths and include all of the factors but I’m pretty certain that Tobey is sustaining more strength here.
3. As well, the scenes as a whole were there for a reason. Tobey’s was incredible and showcased his strength, I mean, just look at his face. I’m glad he had his mask off or otherwise it wouldn’t have the effect that it did have. Tom’s scene didn’t feel like an accomplishment like Tobey’s did and that was for a reason. Tom didn’t succeed, Tom didn’t stop the ship from moving apart, his 2 webs in either hand didn’t even stop the speed that the ship was moving at to begin with. This scene felt like a symbol for him getting in over his head. So much so that Iron Man had to intervene to save everyone.

Also tobey has the best spider sense. He literally analyzed a room in milliseconds in the first movie. Also sensing the green goblin from a mile away.
All of this is why I would love to see an ultimate spiderman live action. Using Tobey as ultimate spidey. Stan Lee himself once said that spiderman by the time he reaches ultimate spiderman in the comics is the strongest character in the entire marvel universe. Tobey's spidey would make an awesome candidate for a live action iteration.

Another important fact is that, right after Electro took the reactor, he hit Doc Ock with his electricity, and threw him out of the building, but Ock quickly recovered. Tobey's Spidey (while weakened and subconsciously nerfed) was able to seriously injure Ock and even knock him out with one punch. Not even Electro was able to do that with his attack, and even without the reactor he's an opponent capable of taking down Tom and Andrew's spideys. Not only does this mean that Tobey's power is kinda superior (or at least comparable) to Prime Electro, but it also means that he's more capable of knocking out his opponents in a way that none of the other characters have been able to.
We also have the fact that Ock was able to contain Electro and his electricity in the final fight (it was a surprise attack, but Electro still couldn't escape), both of which are stronger than Tom and Andrew's spiderman, while it was literally explicit that Ock is no match for Tobey, since a weakened version of him was able to escape from Ock
Tobey Spider-man has had more instances of demonstrating and showing more strength, holding a giant wall from falling, actually holding a cable car instead of just webbing a car like Andrew, Stopping the train holding onto webs instead of Tom barely holding together ship halves. Tobey Maguire really demonstrates the "SUPER HUMAN" aspect in the spider strength the best of the three I feel.
Disclaimer: I LOVE all three iterations of the three Spider-men and am a huge fan of each one. I love all three for different reasons. But I do have a soft spot for the original Sam Raimi films. I find the Raimi films the superior Spiderman "centric" *Films*
The "With great power comes great responsibility" and sacrifice it takes to be spider-man theme emanates in the Raimi films best over the others.
Finally writers and directors that are true fans of what they are making

The situation where people compared Tom trying to pull the ferry together where as tobey was stopping the train is crazy because some people really considered toms feat to be greater even though he never managed to pull it together at all, if anything it was pretty much doomed to collapse until iron man used his thruster robots and welded it back together, Tobey stopped a MOVING train going at full speed FILLED to the brim with New Yorkers, the ferry’s halves might’ve weighed quite a bit, but it’s still a water craft so it’s not insanely heavy, a train is straight up a cart made completely out of solid steel, cast iron and some aluminum, the weight of a single train from an nyc train weighs 82,000 pounds and the train in Spider-Man 2 was a LARGE train at least 6-8 cars in length meaning the total weight would be around 246-328 tons, while a Staten Island ferry DOES weight a lot more at around 3000 tons that’s the total weight of the ferry itself on dry land not in the water, the water itself would make the ferry easier to move around or in this case pull together, however of course tom didn’t manage to pull it together at all, if anything the real impressive thing is how much force Tony’s small robot thrusters produce by themselves, but getting back to tobey the train at top speed would’ve been going an easy 50-60 miles per hour, I don’t know if y’all know this but a massive heavy object going THAT fast produces an insane amount of momentum, an unstoppable force if you will, and tobey quite literally became an immovable object and overcame the theory through sheer physical strength, he did that AFTER fighting doc oc, having his identity revealed to a large portion of New York which like tom causes him massive amounts of anxiety, and basically overall extremely depressed since the video mentioned mental nerfs
P.S I also forgot to add the weight of the passengers on the train itself, the weight could’ve easily surpassed 400 tons with everyone on board, tobeys Spider-Man would’ve been feeling insane amounts of g forces and crushing weight in that 20 second time frame it took him to stop the train

It is kind of crazy that, Tom with all of this advance, gadget and technology at his disposal, he even has suits that would protect him from damages, still had a hard time fighting Doc Ock in their first fight where as in Spiderman 2 , Tobey did better, he actually went toe-to-toe with Doc give the man a run of his money all the while it was the same time where Tobey having issues with his powers, no gadgets or technologies, just his wits and pure strength, throwing hands with someone that has 4 limbs.
Green Goblin said himself that (normal) Tobey is unbeatable while laughing at (full power) angry Tom with nanotech witch gives him additional strength
