The first time I saw a d45 I thought it was too fancy for me. Then I saw this and changed my mind. Years of thinking one thing shattered by one guitar.
Almost makes me want to trade a D-28 1937 Authentic that's paid for. Thanks for the demo Matt. It's your playing that gives away some of the instrument's secrets.
What a dream to be able to play that amazing Martin guitar. Whoever has the 💵 💰 to buy it will be in guitar heaven. It has your name on it Matt!! Gosh, I would settle for a D28. Wonderful demo!!!
Beautiful guitar, hexagon inlay markers would be better Looks like a 42. Is that the proper colour of the wood after the vts treatment, Or have they sprayed it with toner. Like the idea of a bigger lower bout. Would love to try. I'm lucky I have a d42. Great video's
Great sounding guitar! Great playing! The sad part about this is....the person who can afford this and actually buy it will probably be too scared to play it because of the money.
Look at the premiered date of this video. Pretty sure the guitar is CGI and this is an April Fools joke. It is just too perfect. Kidding of course. Super nice guitar and thank you for sharing.
Dayum, amazing sound for a new guitar and at 1/4 of the price of the real deal. Why does Martin insist on put a thicker coat of lacquer on their stock giutars 🤔
Thanks for amazing video. With such a rare guitar, and I think the same model Paul Simon, Neil Young, have, and Chet Atkins had... what is the story behind the guitar? Who did you get it from and how much did the former owner play it? So authentic I think means it's actually an original, right? How many of them were made? 1936 was the middle of the Great Depression, so probably not many could afford this back then. This I think, I'm only amateur, would be a find that would make the covers of magazines.
@@edyue1 Hi Ed! Thanks for taking the time to reply! I don't listen as well as I should. Learning to listen and to be observant is for me a lifelong task ha!
Depends what you mean by "sound quality"?? If it's the rosewood tonality you're looking for then would be worth looking at a good HD28..a decent step up from a standard D28.... however..if it's just "THE MARTIN" tone you're looking for... Then I recommend a D18 reimagined... Martin at the moment are knocking it out the park with the latest d18's... probably about the best new d18's they have ever made!!! But if you're happy to put $5k into a Martin acoustic, then I sincerely suggest you go out and play as many Martin's in your price range.. until you find the right one... Not all d28's sound the same...not all d18's sound the same..not all d45's sound the same!!! $5k.... should net you a killer Martin!!! 👍
LOL at the price. It costs the same to make as their 3K-5K guitars but they added a few touches and raised the price by 50K. Before you reply back....it isn't actually a 1936 guitar so NO its not worth it.
They sound okay.. but so do many other hand made solid wood guitars.. that dont charge the Earth.. If the Martin guitar company is so fantastic how come it took them a 100 years to make a decent guitar lol
I def heard some fretbuzz here and there . I would never buy it for that price. I have a epiphone hummingburd pro, and it doesnt sound much better than my guitar.
No it will not ! If you understand how wealth works, a person with this guitar will play at his every whim just to enjoy it because he or she can. At least I would. Well, I'm just guessing. I dont really have a D 45. Oh, I'm not wealthy. But if I were. Only my fingertips would be calloused.
@@overbuiltlimitedits not that i dont like bluegrass. On demos of martins. You hear it the most. Sure the brazilian d45 is at home. And you hear why brazilian works best for it. But i just want to hear the guitar in all walks. Madagascar rosewood can flop a little when over excited. Which is why it can really sing with softer and slower playing. Brazilian does have a punctuality that only comes out from active playing like this. You only hear the wood alive when its constantly pushed. So id like to hear it played to where we can hear the rosewood die out when played
I could listen to that Martin all day long! Stunning tone. Thanks Matt!
This one has such a gorgeous midrange to it. Totally blooms just like you said.
Easily the most impressive looking and sounding new guitar I've seen. Nice demos.✌️
The first time I saw a d45 I thought it was too fancy for me. Then I saw this and changed my mind. Years of thinking one thing shattered by one guitar.
I agree. I much prefer the old snowflake style like this one instead of the gaudier looking newer style.
Nice job Matt and Graham.
A flagship Martin is always fun to check out.
Almost makes me want to trade a D-28 1937 Authentic that's paid for. Thanks for the demo Matt. It's your playing that gives away some of the instrument's secrets.
That has piano-like fullness and sustain for each note.
Best guitar, best melody, best price.
I have 00-18 want to get A dread one day. This might be one of the best sounding martins ive ever heard
Im lucky to have a J-41 Special with the most beautiful fingerboard inlay. Wish it had a red spruce top like this one!
Surprisingly mellow for a brand spanking new guitar.
I'd love to hear Billy Strings go to town on this thing!
Incredible instrument!!!!!!!
My dream guitar. I will have one someday.
Wonderful,I want one 😊!
My dream guitar.
Very great guitar
$52,000 MAP price...for sure a doctor or lawyer will buy it!
Sounds magnificent 💋💋💋👍🏻🎸
Killer guitar! Flatpicking weapon of mass destruction!
What a dream to be able to play that amazing Martin guitar. Whoever has the 💵 💰 to buy it will be in guitar heaven. It has your name on it Matt!! Gosh, I would settle for a D28. Wonderful demo!!!
Thanks Graham for the demo- makes me think I could use this. But I have to get better with a pick again.
Graham certainly is a great flat picker...Awesome playing..
I happy to say that my 10 year old HD28 sounds just as good! :) I must have got a good one!
Wow! Sounds and looks amazing!!
Hey, I know you from the acoustic letter!

Great video's
The d42 inlay was actually a copied of a d45 inlay in the 30s before they moved to hexagon inlay.
Super cool

The ink pen in the pocket and the rodeo belt buckles makes me nervouse for that faboulous guitar.

Kidding of course. Super nice guitar and thank you for sharing.
Gosh! Tried one at the CF Martin booth NAMM ‘18 & couldn’t really hear anything unfortunately but it sure felt truly mythological
Great guitar !

You have to spray the lacquer thicker to ensure that you don't burn through the finish when buffing to that super high gloss.
@@tommylitchfield3450 at the cost of diminishing the sound 🤦🏻♂️

Great video! You look kinda like Tom Green lol
A GREAT investment for a brave new world.
Dang!
thats fancy
What brand and gauge string is this string with?
Sounds incredible and old...What strings were on this? Martin MA550T? What flat pick were you and Graham using/model/thickness?
That is a rare one!
11:44 I SAW THAT!!! AMAZING TOUCH AND GUITAR....GOT SOME DIP FOR EVERYONE?
That is not Matt...that is Chris Robinson from the Black Crowes
Very nice but most of us could never afford this guitar. My home was probably less expensive.
Sounds like a Martin😊
Playing starts at 5:20

Great review Matt, I really enjoyed it. How comfortable did you find it in regards to its big size?
Can you recommend a guitar for under $5,000.00 with similar sound quality?
Unfortunately no
They make a D-28 Authentic 1937 for $7500 that would be the closest you could get for under $10,000.
....maybe a Custom 15 from the early 1990s.....?
@@19tractor52I had Custom 15, and, no. It sounded great, but no comparison.

wow it sounds like...a guitar!
Beauty👍
Most people can afford any guitar they want they just decide it’s not worth it. Maybe not everyone could afford this one though I reckon lol
Your playing was superb as usual. I could have done with out the blue grass; if somehow lowered the sound. Thanks
Would you prefer “Feelings”?
Where can I get the tab for this song?
Here is what happens when a prodigious guitar is played by a prodigy!
Incredible, but almost too good. It is missing that back-alley feel that an old D-28 has. Too pretty for me.

And it can be all yours for the price of a second mortgage. 🙄

A current D45S is not an original and does not sound as good.
Could you for once stop playing bluegrass? It all sounds the same.
Hi Bo, thanks for the comment. We actually only seldomly have bluegrass playing here on our channel. Usually it's more fingerstyle concentric. Cheers!
